This episode we gave a little more reason to hate Patricia as we build on her character to give us a legit enemy someday in the series! She's being mean to Starlight and her entry into the kite festival. Granted, I think Starlight wavered maybe a bit too easily, but with six panels, we are short on time. Starlight probably would have been a bit thicker skinned than this most likely. But out of nowhere, Johnny, Starlight's enemy-turned-friend colt appears to give her some quick encouragement.
I will be honest, this episode seemed so corny. We originally drew it completely different without the Patreon ponies. We struggled with the final three panels and have several versions. Not too happy with this story-wise, but loved including all of you in it.
We tried to figure out how to show the competition in future episodes, but decided to not show it and leave it to the minds of the readers. It's hard to make a kite competition funny. But there is one element of this event that is saved for a secret episode... Stay tuned.

2023-10-21 11:11:08 +0000 UTCPS. Despite the similarities, my OC's hat was not influenced by Gravity Falls. It was quite a pleasant surprised when I first learned that the show has a main character with a hat in that shape and palette as his distinct trait.
