Bright Blue Sky (Verse)

Here's a new one for you all. Hope you're excited for the new record. I know I am!!

This riff can be broken up into a few ideas or motifs. A good riff can be thought of this way, where you have a few short ideas (3-6 notes) and the order of them is shuffled around. You can learn this riff by breaking up this way as well. Below are a few of these motifs:

-----------------
-----------------
-----------------
-----------------
------3-----3---
-3-5---3-5-----

---------------
---------------
---------------
-1h2----------
-------1-2-3--
----------------

------------------------
------------------------
------------------------
---------------1p0----
-6h5-3--or--------3--
------------------------

There's a few position changes required to play this too, which is important to be aware of. It's mostly in the 3rd position, but in measure 5 you'll shift to position 1. In measure 10 you'll switch to position 2. In measure 14 you'll switch to position 4. Knowing this will help dictate which fingers to use for what notes.

TAB is attached, drop any questions down below!

Here you go! ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- --------5-3---------3----------- --------------5-3-------5-3----- --3---------------------------6-- -----------------------------------

Hey Tristian, the verse chords are C, Bb, F/A, C, Bb, F/A, Eb, C. And then the tag with the ooo la la laa's goes: C, G/B, Bb, G

Hey Phobs! Question about this riff. After the first chorus there is a little fill going into the second verse. How do you play that?

What's happening chord-wise in this song? Sounds like a lot and I'm very intrigued!

Ahhhh thank you for sharing this! Bright Blue Sky became one of my favorite songs pretty much immediately, it’s exciting to see a post on it so soon. Suuuuper pumped for the new album, and to see y’all on tour soon πŸ’«

I'm so thrilled to already be seeing parts from the new record here! I love this part of BBS. :))

Escher Cattle

It's the part that gets stuck in my head most often lately, super catchy! I tried this by ear the night of the release, happy with how close I was. This album is going to be such a banger!

Krissy

No reason other than it just felt right!

BBS is such a beautifully constructed song! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album :)

Shiro

Super fun riff to play from a great song! Looking forward to learning the chorus and solo as well. Question: what was the decision to include lap steel on the song? It's very understated but nice to hear during that slower part.
