Welcome to the Zone of Prestige! I would like to take this opportunity to confirm that it is in fact the most prestigious zone.
For those of you who aren't aware, this is a Lord Phobos (that's me!) original track. You can hear it on Bandcamp at: http://lordphobos.bandcamp.com
Pro tips:
- Every note on the 5th string is palm-muted. I would suggest tilting your right hand wrist in such a way where your palm is always resting on the A string to mute it, but the other strings are open.
- Down pick every note if you have the endurance. It makes the volume and 'tude between each note consistent.
- Wiggle the notes on the 3rd string, you goofball!
- Did you know that if you click on the little gear beneath the embedded YouTube vid, you can adjust the playback speed and hear the riff even slower? It can go as low as 25% speed.
Theory Talk:
This entire riff is in an A minor pentatonic scale. It's easily the most popular scale for guitarists in rock music, pop, R&B, blues, funk, and anything else written in the last 70 years!
If you don't know what a scale is, it's basically a collection of notes that are always going to sound good together. I'll often times write a riff by just shuffling the notes around, experimenting with the rhythms, and whatnot.

---------------------5-8--------
----------------5-7-------------
-----------5-7------------------
------5-7-----------------------
-5-8----------------------------
Because it's in the key of A, the open A string works too (which is why I was able to sneak it into this riff).
TAB is attached as a PDF and a Guitar Pro file. Enjoy!
