Progress update for 30-04-2023
Added 2023-04-30 14:08:23 +0000 UTCHey there everyone! It's time for another update! In the last few weeks we've been busy planing and coding a much awaited version, namely the potion making. Potions are a rather central part of the game, as they are what drives the plot; the player finds a random potion and drinks it by accident, starting everything.
So far the potions have very much been fantasy potions. Even the name, potions, show that they have almost always been plot mcguffings; They work as needed by the plot, and had little depth to them. In the upcoming update, we hope to change that.
In the next update we hope to explain a bit about why the potions exist, what they do, and how the player can make their own! In the current game, one piece of feedback that we've constantly had was that it is VERY luck bases what potions you get, and as such what the game is going to be. That was partially designed, but we want the player to be able to have some input in it. The way the new potion system will work, is that each potion depending on their type has a set of components.

If the player doesn't like the potion they got, they can instead choose to split it up in the components its made up of. The names of these are fairly obvious; Growium, shrinkium, Double Protein Helix, Breastium, dickium... They are either something that happens, or a body part.
The player can then combine these for either effects the player already knows... or... completely new effects. Like increased vascularity. Extra motivation for an entire day or boosted instant effects! A LOT of fun can be had here, and we can add a lot of flexibility.
But thats just the gameplay side. From the story side, we've barely studied these strange drinks that allow for so much chance. Because, while we know who made them, why did he make them? And what are the long term effects? We plan to explore that, while we also start including...
the long expected rival. ;)
Regarding the beta's! This sounds like a LOT we're adding, and it is! The problem is, it is all in very big chunks. And as such, while we could share them, it'd mean half-broken features most of the time. We are working on a new beta release, don't you worry!
