Attack on Titan Episodes 3x19 - 3x21 Question!
Added 2024-10-18 16:30:02 +0000 UTCGood Morning Everyone!
For those of you watching AOT with us, we wanted to give a little heads up and also ask a question. First of all, this show is awesome. These last few episodes have literally been MIND blowing 🤯.
For Episodes 19-21, we were told there was going to be an ONSLAUGHT of new complex information. To be sure we don't miss anything, we'll be watching these in English. However, when it comes to the edit we release on Patreon & Youtube, we can include either the DUB or SUB reference footage below. We wanted to see which you guys preferred. So the options are:
Option 1: Just include the version of the show we watched (english) in the edited version.
Option 2: For the edited video, include the Japanese version on the bottom.
Option 3: It doesn't matter
After episode 21 we'll go back to watching in SUB : )
-Thanks for the help! D&F

2024-10-19 00:21:16 +0000 UTCI’m a big fan of the original audio, but I have to admit that specifically episode 20 and 21 are brimming with info, to the point where I know that people not used to dubs might have a problem with it. Episode 19 isn’t really info heavy imo, but what’s one more episode. Bless the TV makers in my country for making me watch my weekend cartoons with the original audio and Dutch subtitles when I was a kid. Half my English vocabulary is basically learned from “Eek! The cat” and similar shows.

2024-10-18 21:43:22 +0000 UTCI understand your concerns, but I think it’s always best to try to stick through the original when you commit to it. For no other reason than the more used to it you get, the more you are capable of the next time around. Even if you aren’t able to pause and go back during your recordings, I don’t think anyone would mind you going back in the post episode discussion to rewatch. You can even cut it out. But it makes for great discussion either way. It’s a bit of a learning experience, but that’s not a bad thing. Just some food for thought.

2024-10-18 21:22:15 +0000 UTCVery true. A lot of stuff feels lost in translation in the dub whereas in sub you have it word for word. Also the intensity can really be felt in sub

2024-10-18 19:23:20 +0000 UTCIt’s not an information overload at all. You guys should definitely watch it in the original Japanese

2024-10-18 18:54:39 +0000 UTCHere are my thoughts: 1. I don't know who told you episode 19 was information overload, it's really not it's like any other normal episode (something like 3x1) 2. While ep 20 is quite information-heavy I actually believe you will miss more stuff in dub than reading it in the sub (people usually prefer reactors to pause and take in information or rewatch this episode anyway) 3. Episode 21 is quite similar to 3x6 or 3x7 information-wise so I believe you can handle it (but it's not really as much of a problem as ep 20) 4. The performance in episode 20 specifically really sells certain aspects of the episode and Imo the sub excels better at it (a certain character is famously known for his extra-ordinary voice acting) 5. At the end of the day it's your choice so do whatever suits you best (if you do the dub don't forget to enable subtitles aswell) 6. Finally: it really doesn't matter whether you watch ep 20 in dub or sub, you will not be able to grasp all of it on first watch either way (so don't worry no one will judge you for not comprehending it fully)

2024-10-18 18:19:53 +0000 UTCCould also include the dub with cc during your watch and/or the reference footage. Sometimes when I watch reactions to english shows, I can't always hear the show volume perfectly, so idk what the reactors are commenting on. Having cc makes those reactions easier to watch since you can see what was said in the show that they are commenting on, while still keeping the audio version you watched. Idk if all shows have cc available with english dub, so just a suggestion lol

2024-10-18 17:50:26 +0000 UTCPersonally I would prefer to watch it with u guys the original way so if u watched the dub for the next few it would be better to just watch the dub uncut as well with u guys. It definitely gets really info heavy these last episodes and next season. Either way Saturday can’t come fast enough!!!! I can’t wait for next week as welll

2024-10-18 17:31:07 +0000 UTCPersonally I feel the original version is far superior so I’d recommend you watch with sub first*, then dub if you feel you missed stuff, then save the discussion after you’ve watched both. Those episodes are definitely worth multiple watches. But ofc you do what you feel works for you! *) well, growing up in a country where every foreign media is always subbed I’m probably biased towards always watching og versions..
