The National Hat Museum in Portland Oregon https://www.thehatmuseum.com/ has shut its doors (another Covid victim) and they have sold the Victorian home it was in. The current collection is well over 2,000 hats and they are trying to figure out what to do with it as the prior owner passed away. I know that your friend Dita is a collector and lover of vintage hats, as is other people like Rachel Maksy. I was hoping that you could talk to anyone you may know in the industry and see if there is any way to move the collection or re-open it in a different location. It would be a pity for such a huge amount of fashion history to be lost. It looks like they are starting to sell some off on etsy. As a lover of hats and history I hope a solution can be found. It sounds like the current director of the museum is asking for any help or ideas.

I made my mother a structured beret and matching gloves for Christmas last year. Wrapped it all up in a vintage hatbox (also found on the Internet) and ended up with a present I really didn’t want to give away!

I don’t know if you have heard of dharma trading company, but they sell all kinds of fabric dye supplies, many of which are specific to synthetic fabrics and produce a much better result than rit dye. They have a website and are very knowledgeable and helpful. Hope that helps you in the future!

Pancake is such a little SMOOSH (that's my own term for adorable animals and is always said in a high-pitched voice, usually reserved for precious puppies and kitties). It would be wonderful to see more clay figurine projects if possible and I concur with everyone else that hat projects would be lovely to see as well! Three hats that I think you could do justice to recreating would be the "Titanic" hat (the one Kate Winslet wears at the beginning of the movie), Audrey Heburn's black and white hat that she wears in "My Fair Lady" in the scene when Liza attends opening day at the Ascot race, and lastly the white and red hat that Julie Andrews wears in "Mary Poppins" when she's in the chalk drawing with Bert. Also I'm so sorry to hear about your allergic reaction (I saw that in the last live stream)! I suffered an allergic reaction too to meds that lasted daily for months in 2021 (hives, itching, swelling, neurological episodes, chest pain, and suppressed breathing), and I still react (with hives, itching, and sometimes neurological episodes) to a range of chemicals and medications (according to my allergist my immune system went into bonkers hyper drive). What has helped me is eating anti-inflammatory foods (broccoli, etc) and also having Allegra (over-the-counter antihistamine medication) in the house just in case I have a reaction that gets out of control. According to my doctors, Allegra does not surpass the blood-brain barrier, unlike Benadryl, which is a first generation drug. I took Benadryl to control my allergic reaction initially for weeks and that landed me in the hospital with neurological (seizure like) episodes. Also if you don't have an epipen you may want to ask your doc to write you an RX so you have it just in case for peace of mind. Sorry this is a long post-just hope my experience helps! I empathize wholeheartedly, and hope you get well soon!
