I hope you enjoy the final chapter of making the dress form :D
-Christine
PS If you did get asked to collab with the Sims, here is my vote for items to recreate. 1. The Dress Form 2. The Bed in the Guest Room 3. Your Portrait WITH the removable eyes function & your Moms 4. The Grasshopper Pie 5. The Victorian Lamps and the Lampshades 6. The Umbrella 7. Both of the Wallpapers you did 8. The White Dress with the Spiders 9. The black top & black & white skirt combo you wore to RI. The Fireplace in the Christmas '23 episode 10. The amazing candelabra in your dining room on the table and lastly a Gingerbread house

Christine would it be too much of an imposition to ask if you could post a picture of the dress form on a public site like your Facebook. It was so unique and cool I wanted to suggest one for a digital version in the Sims 4 on the forum for the game. They have been making a lot of cool gothic style items lately. I wanted to be able to show what I am talking about but also give credit to you as its creator. Likely EA won't recreate something made by a public figure but they might make something that's an homage and that would suit me fine. If you aren't comfortable with thats fine I respect that. I'll look for something else, yours is just my favorite and I thought it might give you some hype. You never know they might ask you to collaborate.

Christine, Have you used the dress form yet in an episode ? Yes I know I’m late to the party! It was fascinating to watch you work through this art form.

I absolutely adored this little series. I’m sure I’ll never need a dress form, but it was wonderful to watch you work it out and see it through to such a beautifully finished result.

Firstly, the dress form is amazing and I adore it. But wasn’t the original intent of the dress form video to be able to create one for ourselves in order to follow along with dressmaking tutorials? Theoretically it’s possible to make a dress form this way, but this seems beyond the skill level and time available for a lot of us. Even if we’re only doing the basic dress form and not any of the fancy woodwork.
A non-duct tape alternative for us mere mortals, Bootstrap Fashions has a body replica dress form pattern generator. You plug in your measurements and they generate a pattern.

Well, I'm not sure I will make my own full form in the future, but this did motivate me to finally make a nice fitted black covering for my adjustable form, with a little padding in a few spots to make it closer to my shape since I rarely make use of it for commissions. 👍

You did an amazing job! This was a tremendous amount of work and the love of the project shows in the final form! Oddly, I am using much of these same tools building large props for my Cruella De Vil Manor and you gave me ideas for using larger dremel bits that will help me as I sculpt many details to the coat of arms and other finials to her gated entrance. Stunning work Christine. I especially loved how you aged the fabric!

This is incredible! I do have a question, will the dye on the fabric be safe/stable when you start making dresses? I'm just curious, since whenever I dye fabric, it's a whole process washing it out, and soaking it in vinegar so its stable and doesn't bleed! Excited to see you make dresses!

Simply remarkable! Have you ever considered using woodcarving tools for some of the woodworking? You'd have less airborne sawdust and the wood shavings would be easier to clean up. Also, you could devise some sort of vacuum attachment to your Dremel.

Beautiful as always. Girl, coveralls were developed for a reason! I wore them in my shop class in undergrad and they are still my go-to for messy projects. Its so easy to throw them on over whatever you’re wearing, and then take them off and leave the mess in the mess area. Tools have alot harder time catching on the thick tough material traditional workwear is made of. I wonder if you would have been better off in thick leather/canvas gloves as well. Be safe Christine!

This project has been so engrossing to watch and the finished result looks absolutely wonderful! With a dress form that looks like this how could you fail to make beautiful, feminine designs and I am so looking forward to seeing them. As an idea for suitable attire during these more 'heavy duty' projects you could make a coverall type dungaree item of clothing. I've got in my mind the sort worn by the U.K. women's land army during WW2. You could make so many additions/adaptations to make it look amazing.

Ohh my lord ! , I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a masterpiece develop in front of my eyes , she is absolutely stunning 😍, the aging, the carving everything, I absolutely love wood , I have a shed in my garden with heating lights and all electric, I live on Lord Derby’s Estate here in England and I get all my wood from the woodlands,it needs seasoning but it’s all beautiful, I’ve had the glove thing happen to me 😱, it’s terrifying, I’m in love with all your carving on this but I’ve got to say my favourites are the leaves , just out of this world, your welcome for the flax info , I’ve actually made linen with a tutor that came to the estate good few years ago , he was with us for a few months and brought his vintage french loom ,very tiring work , but the bleaching and all the steps were fabulous, I only ended up with 40x30 inch piece 😂 as there was few of us , you are a genius Christine, ❤️❤️❤️

Christine. When I need to age anything i use a mixture of coffee and the grounds. I put in an old pan and heat till boiling. Turn down flame and let simmer. It will get darker. Test to where you want the color. Apply with brush, sponge or spray. You can even dip into the mixture. In the summer I let dry outside on the grass The sun will naturally dry the item. I also use the grounds to make darker areas. Grind into the fabric. Twisting the fabric to make creases and worn areas. My other technique I use power walnut dye. I order it from the internet. Mix with water to the color desired. You can make it yourself but it is a mess to make. Write back to me with your thoughts. Love you, Lesterle. (Phila, Pa I also have other techniques to make items look primitive, worn and scrappy looking. Please excuse the miss-spelling. I am sight-impaired.

It turned out so very lovely! It looked great with the moody lighting, but I'd love to see it in it's full finished glory in bright light too so we could appreciate all the details. :)

Oh gosh. It's hard to tell from the footage, but I think it's possible that the young rabbit may be a dumped domestic one. I'm thinking this because of the fuller body, more solid-colored coat, fullness of face, and lack of a white tufted tail which is a characteristic of both the Eastern and New England cotton tails that are native to New York. If it is a domestic rabbit that has escaped or been dumped, then it would be best to try and catch it and take it to a shelter. Otherwise, it won't survive long out in the wild. Unfortunately, a lot of people dump their pet rabbits, it's how I got my first one actually, after rescuing it from outside. She was from a domestic litter that was born outside.

I use a similar technique for a very small project using cardboard boxes as well, it was so fastidious and not looking as good as yours 😅 Seriously “bravo” for this project! Really enjoyed it, it’s soooo cool 😄
