It's amazing so far! Your craftswomanship is next-level, and you must have the patience of Job! All those little pieces--I can sew, but it is VERY rudimentary sewing. I can't wait til next week to see the finished product!

I've watched this several times. Mesmerizing. You know, this has a sort of "Silence of the Lamb" vibe. Maybe the dress form should be called Clarice????? :o

Depending on what fabric you use this is completely doable within that budget. The glue isn't expensive and a little goes a long way. Plus if you use a stand like she already had laying around or find one (there are a lot for sale or even for free on fb marketplace) that is another cost cutter. I agree that what she has created so far already looks more expensive than it really is and that's a fantastic thing in my book.

Speaking of woodworking, I have a possible suggestion for a future project I just wanted to throw out there in the air. What about making frames? I have a huge collection of antique frames, but sometimes I am painting a piece that just doesn't fit with them aesthetically or physically and I am on this, sometimes in vain, search for one that will work. Just tossing it out there. Beautiful work and I can't wait to see the finished product!

Didn't you say ages ago that this project would be around $100-$150 ? There is no way?!

Great project! I have always found a dress form with some padding underneath to be helpful when using pins and getting a sense of the stretch over a softer surface of different fabrics. I think I will be adding a long zipper in the back so the linen cover can be dry cleaned.

OMG, Christine, this is so amazing! My dad was a sculptor and art professor. He loved working with glue and sawdust, so it is fascinating to me that you knew to do that. He would have been very interested in this project and your talent. I have been sewing since I was 8 (I'm 63 now) and I am blown away by this project. After I retired from my original profession (librarian) I went to work as a manager for Joann Fabrics. I know exactly which linen you used. And you definitely chose the right one. I can't wait to see the last episode and see your finished product! Bravo!!!

What an incredible episode, so impressed by how stunning the cover looks on the dress form! A little tip for the future that you might find helpful - I'm a costume maker and we use this technique sometimes in tailoring - you can make something called a 'damp stick' by rolling up tailoring canvas and tying it together (a bit like a sage bundle). Then you dip it in water and apply the moisture only exactly to where you want steam, and then use a dry iron to create that steam - this way you don't add moisture and risk shrinking the rest of the fabric but you can get perfect pinpointed steam <3

Dumb-ish question, if the stand is glued into the form how will this be used for testing alterations on some near finished skirts and pants?

I don't even sew and I still love watching these. The talent is amazing! I can't wait to see the finished product but have even less patience for the arrival of the Halloween season! (even though all year is still spooky season). I watch these videos on repeat while I do my own paintings and art all through the holiday season.

This dress form is incredible and I know from personal experience that having a form to fit on is so much easier than fitting on yourself and alone. I don't have the skills that Miss Christine has, but I used a pattern by Bootstrap Fashion for their personalized dress form. You enter your measurements and they product a pattern for you to sew together and then stuff full of polyfill, batting, etc. I put an old plastic dummy form into my sewn form then stuffed polyfill around it. Worked out great!
There are great reviews of the bootstrap dress form pattern and lots of youtube reviews. Highly recommend.
I don't have the same skills or tools that Miss Christine has, but this is another options for those who might be interested!
Hope you are all safe and well!

I’m an expert sewer, and I feel a little out of my depth trying to attempt this! I’m a little disappointed you didn’t go through the process of how you decided where to do the lines to create the pattern pieces, and what your method was for this. Even for someone who’s been seeing since a young child, this doesn’t look like an easy feat.
