Watching mother bats with their young is absolutely adorable!

Madam Thistle

I enjoyed this 1000 percent to quote someone.....I watched this...and the next day ran out to Michaels and purchased over 150.00 in silk flowers......mind you they were 40 percent off....i even had to run to another Michaels to find the venus fly trap stems...I love my arrangement, would normally not go this big or grand...but i figured why not...its stunning and nirmally things I make in my opinion just dont turn out the way i expect them too...this by far exceeded my expectations...i would like to turn my small diningroom into a more parlor like look and feeling....needing to find a chandlier now and some curtains......again thank you 1000 times over...fun event

Shirley

I love the contest idea! Thank you so much for considering this ❤

Hope Ohana

I did this for home and call it my Phantom Floral Arrangement. It looks slightly like a funeral arrangement and I love it! :) thanks for the inspiration!

Sufani Garza

Thank gosh your keeping it whew bc all the special things you put into it art work it's you which we love your style and skill

Amelia Botello

Air bnb for only whenever you want and are comfortable for people like us who want to stay and visit it that area or whatever but that would fill up I think but can be very when you want. And or on certain weekends. You could still do the give away or contest for special times.

Amelia Botello

I love your tangents, and a vegetarian owl would be amazing. Bats are drawn to flashlights. If you need light to navigate your way to another room, they may not be as drawn to a toned down light in another color.

Carla DeLauder

Did Christine mention, or can anyone tell me, where she got the artificial flowers? I know the flytraps are from Michael's, but what about the others?

Samantha Gerard

Thank you for the cool video. I can’t wait to try out some of your tips. I’ve always loved seeing your arrangements in your California home.

Carol Brown

Just a little tip for anybody struggling with size. I am a qualified florist and we were always taught the 2 thirds to 1 third rule. So you're arrangement should be two thirds bigger than your vase or vice versa if you're doing a lower arrangement.

Claire Fern-Smith

I just did a beautiful floral arrangement for my foyer! Thank you for the inspiration!!!!

Dandrea Boyle

Welcome to Upstate New York! I'm with you, bats are adorable. Pro tip, though-- any bat in a room with a sleeping person should be treated as a rabies exposure (sounds crazy! But it's true!). So hopefully they are staying clear of your bedroom! 🤣 Best of luck bringing the house back to life.

Sarah Berke

I'm a new subscriber so I'm just now catching up on all of the previous videos. I appreciate that you're a kindred spirit in inability to care for plants. Even a cactus or succulent doesn't last long in my care... but somehow I am fantastic at caring for animals which is far more work. It's a mystery.

Alexandra Conrad

Lol the bat joke got me! 18:57

Lucy Wolski

Oh and my husband had no issue with me adding funds to your account by joining pateron......who is this man by the way????? I also ordered your dessert book it should be here saturday...thank you Amazon

Shirley

So I had to run out to Micheals...spent over a $100.00 even with a 40 percent off all fall florals....and made me an arrangement...i would say I am normally am not into skulls, bones and gas mask...but some of your style has rub off on me...i have decided to collect crystal balls, ravens, and spider webs and I will leave them up year round...the arrangement I made is equal to size as the one you made and I added the venus fly trap as you did...my neighbor came over and said wow its very funeral looking.....I was pleased that was my intent since I have it sitting on a round table with a lace black table cloth with a lighted crystal ball...thank you I had fun....even put ricks in my vase and that green syrofoam stuff in there...i think i need to added that white fluffy stuff you used...my michaels didnt have it....my husband nit known as my captive even commented on this arrangement...its a winner...thanks for easy instructions and visual. I must say some of your utems are a bit to complex for me.......

Shirley

Ah NY bats... brings back memories of getting my rabies shots at age six. Hot tip: if the baby bat you found bites you, don't let it go back into the wild before you tell your mom.

Mary

Aaaallottt!

Sarah Cortez

The wobbling of the vase on the stool made me nervous, but the finish product is beautiful.

Kerry Shepherd-Bolt

What will it cost to heat your huge house in the winter?!!

DMCM

Anticipating a peek at your kitchen....

Eva Cranky Pantz

Oh man, ok, PLEASE keep a warm blanket in your car in the winters in case you get stuck. I always kept coarse kitty litter in the trunk which helped me when I got stuck in snow on hillsides. And don’t neglect chains or snow tires!

Lauren Wagstaff

Why oh why did I wait so long to become a Patreon member! This is just delightful! I am thrilled that I joined up.

Melinda

I would love to use flowers BUT my youngest cat eats them. Even fake flowers. He chews on them! Any tips for how to stop that from happening?

Lauren Wagstaff

Yes, Oribe has been a savior for my hair (in NC). Upstate NY can get humid too. I use Oribe’s Gold Lust (isn’t the name wonderful?) oil, but sparingly. It gives a scent like no other, incredible shine, and is light enough to not make my medium-fine hair look oily.

Lauren Wagstaff

I would personally LOVE a whole tutorial on your hair! It always looks amazing.

Tori

The instagram hashtag this patreon community is using to share their craft along works is #creatingwithchristine. She'll definitely see it. Also use the tags #christinemcconnell #fromthemindofchristinemcconnell

rachemus

For dress patterns, Reach out to Gertie of Charm Patterns. Her Patrons have been asking forever for a collab and she said she would love it, and even have pattern ideas in mind. So I can see you guys designing a dress for patrons. Please make it happen! Pattern after dress form.

Jessica Harmsworth

Morgan Donner has a really great dress form video you could probably use as research!

Katy Liljeholm

Hey Christine! Welcome to the east coast! I use Oribe’s anti-humidity spray to keep my hair from going flat the minute I step outside here in Virginia: https://bluemercury.com/products/oribe-impermeable-anti-humidity-spray?variant=31691482398795. They also make a good texturizing spray that I use to give the top of my hair volume. I feel like most hair sprays are too heavy to use on top of my head. They also tend to stay sticky in the humidity. Can’t wait to see the rest of the house!! :)

Kelsey Linnehan

Thanks for teaching me a new way to do my flower arrangements! I use artificial ones as well, and your tips will help them look better, and not fall over - usually in the most inopportune moments!

Suzanna Dunn

I loved this and can't wait to see more of the house. Can't seam to figure out the time difference either, but one day I will catch a live stream.....haha. Here is to the most creative women I know <3 Have a wonderful week Christine and all my fellow patreons. Greatings from Nina in Norway

Nina Rese

I've been watching this every night. It lowers my blood pressure and I'm able to relax. Christine is so soothing. I am so happy that we have contributed a tiny bit for her to get the house of her dreams and to let us share in her journey to make it special

Sarah Cortez

So excited for the tour can't wait to see the house!!!

Albertina Starr

Have you heard of the inkwash artwork done by Stephen Gammell and Brett Helquist for the Scary stories to tell in the dark books? It is amazing and so haunting! I remember reading these books in elementary school and the chilling artwork actually made it a little hard to read the stories. I'm not sure if this is something we can do for a DIY project in the future but it is just so darn cool I had to mention it. I hope everything is going great with the move!

Katherine

Right? The suspense is killing me. lol

Belle Summer

I wonder if we can make, or convince Christine to make a FB group for her patreons? I know a few different youtube channels that do that for their Patreons.

Belle Summer

I wish I could show you guys how cute my floral derangement came out

Moe

When is the candle lite tour???

Jeannette

I’m so excited for the videos coming out soon. The suspense is killing me XD

Janaya

I’m just watching this again and I feel like the sound is much better in this new house.

Vicky Neish

Watching flower arranging is weirdly soothing.

E. M

Christine, I love that you put the Venus Fly Trap flowers in your arrangement!!! What an awesome idea!

Oaknwichlane June G

I loved this episode!! It was like bob ross relaxing watching you arrange the flowers!!❤️❤️❤️

Randi Frailey

I've made it to the part where you're talking about you hair. I'm in Florida and I know lol. The beach waver curling iron is the best purchase I've made in a long time just fyi

Felicia

Ahhhh I absolutely cannot wait for a candlelight tour!

Tiffany

Welcome to the neighborhood! I'm new to patreon from central Vermont. My father engineers equipment for maple syrup production and installs sap collection systems for people throughout the region, so I've been to that area many times for jobs, its totally gorgeous!!! I hope you love the new digs, it looks like quite the place! Some sage advice... It gets cold earlier than you might anticipate (we tend to put the "ber" in October around here) so master those heating systems right away. Getting them professionally cleaned and prepared is the way to go. Don't use space heaters unless you REALLY like paying the power company. My ex was using a space heater in the basement, unbeknownst to me... I got the surprise when the power bill was over $1,000 higher than usual that month. I buried it with him, naturally. On that long winded note, I'd love to see some winter wardrobe creations. I need ideas, its almost a law that you can't have elegance and warmth in the same ensemble, but I'm sure you'll come up with something amazing!🤩 I'm 5'10" so, I'm sure you feel my frustration being statuesque in a petite world. Lol

Morticia Kensington

You filmed this on my birthday, and this membership to your channel was a little gift to myself. I had wanted to sign up even since I discovered that Netflix made the horrible decision not to go for another season (a decision I hope they are now regretting ~ lol). It has been one of the best birthday gifts ever! You are such a gift to this world, a sweet light in the darkness of this wretched year, and I am forever grateful that you were such a terrible secretary. Thank you for being you, and for sharing it with all of us <3

Jenevie Shoykhet

You mention wanting an owl. In my area there are a couple rescues for wild birds of prey as well as a few others. Their workers are mainly volunteer, so that might be a way to interact without actually having one as a pet. If there are any in your area, I mean. My daughter worked with one of our local groups for a while and it doesn't sound like owls are particularly friendly. Beautiful but they don't like being held captive even when you're trying to make them well. The buzzards were friendly, though.

Stacey Friend

Ditto for Joann. They'll take multiple coupons per visit (the Michaels in my area limits you to one coupon at a time). And definitely shop post season and stockpile for future projects!

Amy Mullen

I teared up when you started to talk about your struggles and how grateful you are for all of us. You are definitely worthy of all the support and love from your fans. PS I’m a floral designer ( silk and fresh) and a tip on cutting floral styrofoam -run your knife along a candle. It will slide through the foam like butter! you can also score it and pop it on the scored line. It will break cleanly Can’t wait to see your progress on this ghoulishly fantastic home.

Shelley Anders

I can’t imagine how magnificent your Christmas tree is going to look with how you described the largeness of the house!!

Jillian Zieber

For anyone looking for other spooky plants from the real world I found these as well that we have been using at my place. Snapdragon Skull Pods https://www.grandinroad.com/skull-twig-stems-2c-set-of-six/1286720 Chinese Lanterns https://www.grandinroad.com/black-chinese-lantern-stems-2c-set-of-three/halloween-haven/halloween-wreaths/1384812?uniqueId=1384812&prank=13 Just a couple ideas for you all!

Nicholas Frig

Watching the section about her hair and laughing.. then thinking.. oh snap! I know you guys showed up late this summer, and upstate, but you can't possibly be considering air conditioning a house that size, right? Maybe just like one bedroom? (Though cooking, especially anything that involves an oven, in a NY summer without A/C is the exact opposite of fun.)

Izile

Having lived in VA my whole life can totally relate to the hair. Ive probably used my weight in anti frizz stuff in my life. But mostly my hair is up because I don’t want to be bothered.

Katrina Dixon

Christine: “I’m a gigantic fan of artifice, and artificiality.” Me: Why did the term “Mortuary chic” just pop into my head? 😂

Sharita Piazza

*Cue internal screaming at the announcement of the contest*

Sharita Piazza

Hi! Just wanted to offer a solution to your hair troubles: Cynthia Sylvia Stout by Lush: Perfect for hair that tends to go frizzy in damp or humid environments. Vegan. Good luck!

Hanna

Finally getting around to watching this. So cool that you are planning to host guests at the forest house. I would love that opportunity--esp. if I could bring my little dogs :)

Melanie Parker

I love your flower arrangements! So gorgeous! But I recommend picking up some hand-held bolt cutters for future wire cutting adventures. I use bolt cutters for cutting wires to make my OOAK fairy wings and they save my hands. So much easier than using standard wire cutters. 😊

Nerdyfae

If you don’t eventually have a room behind a bookshelf, I will be disappointed. 😉

Linda

Hi Christine, I'm watching your live feed just tonight. I see you are in the market for retro 1950 stoves. Goshen Masd has a store called Good Time Stove Co. They have several refurbished stoves that remind me of your Calif kitchen. Theyvarecamazing. 188 Cape Street Goshen Ma .Phone 413.268.3677.

Linda

Thank you for this- Recently my aunt passed away from cancer (she was only 50) and she left my mom with a waterford crystal vase and two faux roses. I made a full floral piece with those two roses at the center with the help of this tutorial. My mom loves it too. Thank you so much xx

Marlena Heberling

I shared my arrangement on instagram today, I think it turned out well!

Samantha Farrell

We are so happy for you and Captive, Christine!💖💖

Sarah Cortez

I would find it so crazily funny/awesome if (when you're settled and life has normalized) you dressed up in one of your amazing outfits and delivered one of your spooky baking creations to your neighbors! Talk about getting a "taste of the neighborhood".

Karen Norton

Seriously can't wait to see the rest of this amazing house!! And, hi from New Zealand ! <3

Cheryl Browne

Oh my gosh, can I PLEASE bartend for one of these magical parties you're talking about?! What a dream.

Veronica Ewing

A lot of the time I will use fake flowers all over the house, but I do love fresh flowers, so I will buy one bunch of roses or sunflowers and put them on my living room coffee table as a fresh accent to the home.

Veronica Ewing

I LOVE the idea of a contest for someone to stay in your Cali forest home!!! I would give just about anything to have that opportunity and to see all your work in person!

Veronica Ewing

Note for those who commented about project cost: Always check yard sales & goodwill for old vases. (I now have them a stash of them in my attic) Also, the Dollar Trees in my area carry tons of the basic craft supplies including the foam used here. I stock up on glue sticks, floral tape, foam & rocks there. It helps to keep your cost for completed projects down. *Don't forget Michaels 40% off coupons for keeping greenery stashed at home ;)

Angela Pogue

What is the name of your new home?

Christine M

Loved this vlog! Flowers&vase perfect for your foyer! Dress looks lovely along with your “Happy Face”! My kitties love your voice and started kneading their paws during vlog😂🥰🦇🕷🥀

Tammy Robinson

Great Episode! So nice to see you in your new habitat!!! FYI - I just read that a full moon rarely occurs on October 31st, but one is happening on Halloween 🎃 Night 2020!!!!!!

Dianna Roberts

Hello! Being that Christine and her Captive live there, and as much as they love us “Stalkers”, I don’t think that it’s my place to share that information, that’s up to them what they want to share and how they share it, I respect their privacy. I hope you understand.

Noelle Mancini

Just finished watching. You said you would like to make a pattern for one of your dresses, Christine. Do you know Gretchen „Gertie“ Hirsch. She is a vintage pattern maker from NY state and mentioned, in one of her streams I think, that she would love to make a pattern with you.

Illyria

Sorry I missed it live! We spontaneously decided to drive to Deep Creek, MD yesterday for my birthday a day early. I enjoyed the episode, though, and did a few small fall arrangements. Still need to did out last year's flowers. Can't wait for the house tour!

Stacey Friend

It was so ASMRy with all of the rustling. I loved it! Can't wait to see the candlelight tour!

Awen (Ah-when) Waters

Oh, I am so sorry I missed this LIVE! So happy you have made it to your new home! Congratulations....love it so much! All my best to you on your journey!

Pamela Kay

Don’t worry, the humidity will calm down next month. It’s just a summer thing.

Genevieve Fernety

It was in mine as well!

Nicole Kinna

My cousin is just over 7ft tall and loves Halloween, I'll see if he's available for parties 😂

Hillary A Mills

OMG! I would die to see your home in California. 😂 the bat joke had me rolling and I was like girl... that might be a problem until you said you were kidding. ❤️

Rebecca Valentine

Such a great house. We looked at it as well, but we couldn't find a way to work in that area to pay for renovations. Very happy you got it as we know you'll make it even better than we could. Those Victorian ceilings are an intimidating feature, we love ours, even though they aren't quite 13 feet like yours.

Adam Wall

I am happy to tears for you! Thank you for letting us along on your great adventure 😻

Rachel Johnson

Do you have the original link? It would be great to see the original listing :)

Megg Sohn

Congrats on the new house. I love the murder mystery dinner theatre idea! Living vicariously through you :)

Katie

Thank you for the video ! I have never made a floral arrangement before but now I want to try it out and find some interesting artificial flowers. Can't wait to see the video tour of your newly acquired Victorian home. In fact, this has made me want to watch one my favorite horror films, Crimson Peak. It is just beautiful to watch.

marie davis

Bats are sweet. I always wanted a flying fox. They look like a puppy with wings. That's so perfect that you have a creepy house with bats! I'm so glad you're making them houses.

Susanne Tassin

Great video! Thanks for sharing your talents. Looking forward to more fun projects.

Beth Childs

I grew up in Massachusetts, so I know humidity. The good side is thunder and lightning, crickets and frogs singing, fireflies and bats. The bad is floppy hair.

Alyne Whiteswan

Do you need a Mrs.Danvers? Lol! I love houeses like that! You are living my dream. :)

Alyne Whiteswan

I see an image of a girl in the window to the left of your head, looks like she's sticking her tongue out. Look at the 51:30 mark.

Tanya Hutchinson

Such a fun Sunday video today! Thank you lady! And thank you to all the Patrons here that have made Christine's dream come true so we can watch! <3

Megg Sohn

Lol you got me real good with the bat joke 😝

Robin Antonson

Thank you for posting, it was very entertaining. Can't wait for the two videos coming. :-)

Mononoke Adams

Awesome!

Mononoke Adams

LOVED the update, thank you! Okay, speaking as a fellow stringy white girl hair owner I will tell you this: all the ways you did your hair before will change. It is going to take some trial and error. But I promise you will eventually get the hang of it. Just be open to a whole new approach, do lots of google, and you will learn how to handle your hair in the new environment. I laughed so hard when you pointed out it gets flat on top and poofy on bottom, it does! It feels like unruly cotton candy! But with time you learn new tricks. I love you and your stuff so much, I am so grateful we get to be on this journey with you!!

Eris

I was considering the fly traps at Michael's but had no idea what to do, but now I do thanks

Summer Rose Barnes

Stock up on lotion. NY is murder on your skin in Winter. Apply for the STAR program if you haven't yet. It reduces your property taxes in New York.

Jackie Beiter

Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing more video vlogs of your gorgeous home. 🖤

Carla Perea Seminaro

Thank you for sharing your adventure with us!!

Piper Dohring

This was a great livestream - loved watching you floralize! I am so excited to see the house!

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Helpful east coast high humidity hair tip. Wash your hair with a good hair soap, like Liggett's, rinse with water and and then finish with 1/2 tsp of citric acid (sometimes called Sour Salt in the stores) dissolved in 3 cups of warm water. Leave in for a minute while you do something else and rinse. When I used to wash my hair with shampoo it behaved abysmally in summer. Conditioner never helped. BTW, you won't need to worry in a few months. The air is dry in winter, you'll get used to having summer hair and winter hair. Winter hair is nice and silky.

Liz Mednick

Thank you for the stream!!! It was fun!

MiLora Tur

loved the live stream Christine!

Essepes

yes, dress form video!

Cassandra Maile

Audio is perfect. Video is slightly choppy. Stop motion.

Anna Dewart

love your dress. that green color is my favorite. I love the leaf broach :)

Janaya

My wedding is Halloween this year. Any ideas on how to make it classy scary? (We are only celebrating with our 4 friends so its small and quarantine safe)

Brooke

Advice on dusting? My fake flowers just feel like dust magnets and then it screams fake when covered in dust.

Melissa Plunkett

How is the foundation?

Eliabeth LaVersa

It seems like the logistics of an overhead camera will be a pain!

Tonya

That foam you’re using the soft one, it’s usually is marketed for wet arrangements meaning it can soak up water for real flowers

Dayana Alvarado

Yes, it is an East Coast thing...

Krista C

They are probably sooo happy to have someone in the house!

Krista C

Yeah, we East coasters are nice. Lol.

Kimberly Hope

I would love to attend Craft Camp at your house! We could stay in local hotels, but how cool would it be to get to do crafts with you there??

Camp Wulfstan's Glade

Melissa Plunkett

Do you have plans yet for how you are going to decorate for Halloween?

Melissa Plunkett

Aveda control force hairspray works amazingly!

Irene mitola

My curly hair is humidity friendly.

Carmella Ramsey

Same in Texas. The big hair is for a reason. Aveda has great products to help.

Melissa Plunkett

Humidity- Welcome to the East Coast.

Nancy Jones

Janaya

That dress is lovely! Did you sew it yourself?

Clare Buswell

Graveyard dirt would be excellent

Rachel Guy-Whittle

Melissa Plunkett

Amelia Kimmel

bats in Kentucky eat the bugs out of the yard

Anna Dewart

Beautiful vases.

Nancy Jones

I grew up with bats in my back yard in California and loved them!

Tamara Lynn Chambers

It would be really cool if you wrote hand written letters for future owners to find. Continue the legacy!

Alexandria

That’s what I’m wondering too

Brittany Paulson

WOW how generous, to create a Patron get away.

Agatha Crookshaw

Does anyone know if she see’s these comments. Or should we be commenting somewhere else?
