Thank you so much for showing me how to make solid perfume! I used to loved wearing gorgeous perfumes, my favorite was Poison, but I've found my hay-fever has gotten worse and worse over the years to the point I can't wear atomized perfumes. I'm ok with oils or solids, perhaps because the oil stops it from evaporating off my skin as much so I'm not constantly inhaling it. I never would have thought to spray some of my Poison into a glass and mix it into beeswax and jojoba oil. I'm going to have to look for the perfect container and have a try!

Don't feel bad about using the cigarette cases for the makeup and removing the holder. You are repurposing it to something far more beautiful and happy. Those cases probably lead someone to death from cancer.

Wow. This was one of the most helpful and inspiring how-tos I've ever seen! About a year ago I started creating a vanity in an antique secretary that was a family heirloom. I make a lot of my own cosmetics and was already using some vintage bottles and jars for things, but this is way beyond anything I might have done on my own. Custom cigarette-case compacts? New lipsticks made old? Swoon. Can't wait to discover more ways to make things beautiful.

Thank you for posting this! My beautiful, 90 year old mama recently passed away. I was left her collection of all her old cosmetic and beauty containers. I didn’t know what to do with them. You’ve given me a way to keep my mothers memory alive as I use these antique containers!!!!

Great to see all these additional tips! I scrolled through, but didn't see if anyone has a good recipe for making the solid perfume using alcohol/water-based fragrance. I've seen a lot online using oil-based, but I'm not sure how to get a commercial perfume to blend with wax and jojoba oil. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hello, Christine!
THANK YOU for this video, is was the reason, why I registered as a patreoness. Storing my makeup in beautiful antique containers is something, that I always wanted and was looking for. And your free video on Youtube just blew my mind! I am so happy I found you, I wish it happened much earlier! I only wish your videos were longer and more detailed... It would be very nice, if you could list products you used in the description, it would make the content just perfect :)

Thank you so much for this Christine. What a great video! I subscribed especially to see this after I saw your makeup tutorial on YouTube. It’s really inspired me. I just went on a mini vintage make up buying spree on eBay and Etsy. So dangerous! Although my way to get a hold of a Dior bottle you’ve gotta spend about $200 AUD on ebay
In the past I’ve depotted a lot of my make up but I’ve never thought about putting it in any of my vintage make up compacts! Now I can’t wait too!

So I’m in the middle of making one, I think it’s going to work... I just have to rethink a few things because it’s a really thin case. Excellent overall size, I’ll end up with 2 Inglot lip sticks, 4 Inglot eye shadows and 1 Inglot blush, but very slender mid century style, I had to shave down the model board... hold on... thin plywood... I’ve just had an idea!!

Etsy is great for compacts and vintage bottles too. Found some great ones for pretty decent prices. Even found the exact lipstick tubes (though they range in the mind $30 area) and the Christian Dior bottles (around $100 per bottle). If you decide to get perfume bottles make sure they are not lead crystal/glass as that is dangerous to store products in.

Not sure if this would be helpful to anyone, but I once re-filled an original milkglass Pond's container with Pond's and the zinc lid didn't have enough of a barrier (despite me adding a paper lid liner) to keep it from oxidizing and ruining the product. HOWEVER you can buy that really thin cork that was used in a lot of these old style containers to line the lids still on Amazon in sheets and cut it to fit and works well. :)
If your container is missing one it's super helpful, especially if you want to keep it somewhere where it needs to be more tight fitting so the product doesn't leak (I travel with mine).

I'm not much of a makeup kinda gal, but this would be the best display. As always, you exceed in everything you do and I'm left with a sense of awe. There were items in this video that reminded me of my childhood that I had forgotten....my Aunt and Mom had the fancy bottles and the perfume broches and because they were always there, I didn't consider it vintage, but I wish I had held on to some of those things that I played with .

Christine, these are amazing. I have a question, though. I'm old enough to remember the 60s and 70s iterations of these types of female accoutrements and I remember that they were gold- and silver-tone that was sometimes not so sturdy. Did you have any problems when sanitizing these with boiling water or alcohol? Did any of the finish come off or streak?

So what she did, was freeze them first so make them more stable during transfer. then you pop them in your new tube... however.. sometimes if you handle them to much or if you bump them you can leave fingerprints or blemishes on the lipstick.. if you don't want them there, take a hair drying on a low setting and blow the warm air at the lipstick tube to smooth it out. This isn't required for personal use, but she may have done it since they are give aways. Its in Dita Von Teese book, Your Beauty Mark.. highly recommend.

Thanks for another amazing idea and episode Christine :) Such a great idea to bring these wonderful antiques "back to life" and to help them get not only admired but actually used on a daily basis. I dream of making a set like what you made one day! On a similar subject but side note, have you ever heard of LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs? I think you would appreciate their macabre style; think eyeshadow palettes in coffins, contour palettes that look like the book of spells from Hocus Pocus, and lipsticks that look like bullet shells! More importantly they're a USA company, their makeup is 100% Vegan, Talc Free, Paraben Free, & Cruelty Free. Take Care! Here's their site if you're interested in checking it out. https://www.lunaticklabs.com/

Hi Kristine, I was disappointed that Patreon doesn't have an app that will work with my Smart TV. It is ok watching on a laptop, but not as good. Any way they can fix this? I have a Roku TV. have been enjoying your Youtube vids on my large TV so it is kind of a step down to watch Patreon vids on a small laptop. Thank you! I love your videos, they are really inspiring!!!

OH. MY. GAAAAAAWSH 😭 This was AMAZING 😍 I have to go through my smalls box to look for my antique containers, I hope I find some. I don't wear make-up, I used to and also used to do stage make-up, but I'd soooo have these on display. You're incredible. Sending much love, stay safe and healthy 🖤🖤xx

I'm fortunate enough to live in an old town with an auction house that does estate sales often. With the world in its state the auctions are now online. From the comforts of my home, clutching my Canadian smock pillow, channeling my inner Christine (will be sure to be drinking tea from tea cup.) Hopefully, I'll bid on something old and win.

Love all these ideas - especially using the atomizer for your makeup setting spray. And I foresee a run on antique & vintage cosmetic & perfume containers on eBay soon (better than them just sitting around and not being used though :-) ).

AHHHH! This video was amazing! so inspiring and it love the idea of re potting all of your favorite make up in to a whole style. Your lipstick cases turned out amazing! I didn't know the amazing Dita Von Tease had a perfume looking into that! and Ive been thinking about using a perfume atomizer for setting spray for a bit but you took it all to a whole new level <3 It looks impeccable all together.

I was so excited when I saw this video was ready! I got in my really nice pyjamas, made myself a beautiful gin and tonic in my lead crystal vintage glass and snuggled up with my cat Luna... what a fantastic and beautiful way to spend 30 minutes. I can't wait to start collecting vintage cases and doing this with my own makeup, I always saw these lovely things at vintages fairs but couldn't think of a use for them... now I do :) x

I’m not a huge crafter. I like seeing craft masters at work, but this one is up my alley as I love makeup and old trinket boxes/containers that are functional! I’ll likely transform some of my small antiques into functional works with some of these great ideas. Thanks!

This is so lovely and calm and inspiring to watch. I did have a question. The blush tins look like they're brass? Is there any worry about the creamy blush interacting with the brass? Is there some sort of coating? Or is it just not a worry?

Um, WOW! 🤩 They are so incredibly beautiful! I have a few vintage makeup and perfume containers that I’ve wanted to do this with for a long time, but wasn’t sure how and was always too nervous of ruining them. I’m definitely going to try it now - thanks so much for showing us! A question - how is the gold leaf holding up on the interior bits? Would using gold spray paint be a good alternative for me to try? I know it wouldn’t be as luxe as the gold leaf.
And holy smokes, I am green with envy of those giveaway winners! 💚
