Gothic Witches Broom - From the Mind of Christine McConnell

In this October episode I craft my own witches broom from African Zebra wood and recently harvested broom corn!

Gothic Witches Broom - From the Mind of Christine McConnell

Comments

Wow! That is truly beautiful. Are you self taught at wood carving or did you take any classes?

Trina

I’m catching up with all the shows long after the fact, but I thought that was exceptional. That wood is so hard to work with. I don’t believe I would’ve tackled that. Everything you do is so amazing and you are so talented. Kudos! πŸ’œ

Dawn Hutchins

It would be great if these older Vimeo ones could be altered to be able to see on YouTube like all the others. I like to watch these again….

Randi Frailey

I use Firefox and a lot of tracker-blocking extensions, so perhaps. I discovered that I have to watch it ON PATREON. The direct link to watch it on Vimeo does not work for me.

Sarah

I saw you're having issues Sarah, could it be your browser or membership level? I'm binging a bunch of episodes from the beginning of the Patreon and not having any trouble using Chrome.

Lynsey I

Is this video gone as well? D:

Sarah

This is so extreme! Just love it. You are the Guru!!!

Joanne Zaborowski

This looks absolutely STUNNING 😍 I bought a Dremel last year to help copy moldings in my 1858 cottage, but I think when I have time I'm going to give this a go. This witch needs a fancy broom πŸ–€πŸ§™πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ–€

Liana Palumbo

Such an incredible work of art 😍 a broom like this wall-mounted would be breathtaking!

Paranormal Kativity

Such a beautiful project!

Megg Sohn

Beautiful broom. Such a strong wood.

Jackie Blanch

This was amazing!!! Inspiration to learn new skills.

Jacqlyn Jordan

That was a labor of love 😘

Janeen

What a magical idea! I absolutely loved it!

Riona O'Faoladh

how do i get to the list of things that she uses to make these projects, can't seem to find them.

Rachel Lopez

Brilliant work, by the way. Your attention to detail is just wonderful!

Emily

Have you tried diamond bits for your Dremel? I've found they make tougher jobs go much faster and they last longer, though my projects have all been quite small.

Emily

love it!! reminds me of an old gun !

Honey Cooper

Check ABEwants.com. You can put in for a notice when one comes up. I got my copy used in USA earlier last fall and it was one of last copies left

MichelleShari

omg nooooooooooooooooo that's so sad.

Meredith Steele

Heartbreaking! :(

Rebecca Jones

Acording to instagram post it arrived, to the winner of the draw, in a dirty crushed box with the broom snapped in half. Christine said something about making a new one to replace it?

MumtoHades

What's this about UPS destroyed this?

Whitney Nolan

I can't watch the video due to the privacy settings. Was it taken down?

Hannah Blosser

It can be fixed! Don't throw it away!

Aunt Debbie Halloween

I still can't believe UPS destroyed this.

Functioning_Adequately

Wow! I love it!

Paula McShane

it would be amazing if this broom could be a miniature like a wall hanging I would buy one or two 😊. This broom is beautiful and super jealous that I didn’t come up with a better name than I did oh well

Nella T. Reisner

Amazing!!

Nina

Looks to be working now.

James Anthony

Anyone else having trouble viewing the video?

James Anthony

This is so inspiring !

rebecca LaMalfa

I feel your pain regarding misjudging materials -- glad you managed to wrangle it anyway. What a beautiful beesom -- such a clever idea, carving animals into the stick! Now I wanna make one of my own ….

Wolfen M

So fantastic and fun! Love everything about this! Is the music posted here on this app or are we supposed to go/ do something else?

maurie lord

My dad said, if you're not already, to find out where the dentist get their bits and those may be more sturdy!

Jessica Harmsworth

Christine I'm so sad that we chose Sleepy Hollow for Halloween this year instead of Salem! I am so dreaming that you can buy an old mansion on the East coast and show us how you "Christine" it! I dream of that day.

Sarah Cortez

This is incredible. Such a detailed and intricate design, I'm in awe!

Sempra

Amazing work, truly the coolest witches broom ever!!! P.S. I love what you chose for animals, perfect.

Wednesday

currently it is 12.99 in the play store.

melissa

Christina I'd pay that too for it if I can could get my hands on a copy!

Heather Anderson

No, this is naked me. I generally use other names on socmed, but for some reason didn't here. Mum said she got it from Lord of the Rings.

Branwen Frost

Definitely not the same (I'm more of a hard copy person) but good to know!

Heather Anderson

Not the same as a hardcopy but I do believe Amazon has the kindle version for less than $20.

Angie Loyd

Very helpful, thanks heaps for that. So sad there's only one round of prints, I will keep my fingers crossed that maybe one day there will be more, otherwise will keep a look out for reasonably priced 2nd hand ones!

Heather Anderson

I ended up paying $200 for mine, worth it.

Christina bush

So is Bree your real name or do you just like the sound/spelling of it? Just curious as Bree irl who never sees it spelled that way in the wild.

Bree

I waited too long after her first run and wound up buying a hard copy on Amazon for around $70 from a reseller. I would bet there are no more available copies that are not used or incredibly marked up new, as mine was. There was only 1 run of the book. So I would say if you can find a "new" or "like new" copy being sold by a reseller somewhere to just suck it up and call it an early Christmas present to yourself because I doubt that there will be a reprinting anytime soon if maybe never. I would love that for Christine and all the fellow fans, but I am sure her publisher would need to be convinced they would make a solid profit and cookbooks usually don't get demand again down the road unless you're Julia Child. . . So I went looking online for you to see if I could find one and I came across this waste of oxygen who marked her book up to $700. People like this make me so mad. They are like leaches. I hope no one buys it and rewards people like this. . https://www.ebay.com/p/210405903?iid=283423793268&chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=283423793268&targetid=593772136533&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9021555&poi=&campaignid=2086088136&mkgroupid=80059919711&rlsatarget=pla-593772136533&abcId=1141016&merchantid=113578590&gclid=CjwKCAjw0vTtBRBREiwA3URt7rdQJRhCuuwycwW7-4EX4if_rH4MnfObNxh4bmqqsWXxo77d3qpF4xoCiksQAvD_BwE

Bree

i found it in the google play store. not sure if that helps.

melissa

Is there any way we can ge the suply list in a seperate doc not just in the posts as it would make each one so much easier to find.

Ellen

Hi Christine, I was wondering if there is any way I can purchase a hard copy of your Deceptive Desserts cookbook? My husband has tried contacting you regarding this and hasn't had a reply, I am a really big fan of yours and would LOVE to get a copy if possible 😊 if anyone else knows how to get a hard copy I would be very grateful!

Heather Anderson

Oh my gosh - this was LOVELY! To be honest, I’ve always wondered how one would make a broom, well, now I know! And to not use Zebra wood! ;) That said, your broom turned out fantastic though (of course), well done!

Letha Anderson

If you're ever stuck for a project, all my hat pins are currently sitting in an empty pickle jar. I'd love to see what you might put them in. I have almost 30 in a rainbow of colours.

Branwen Frost

Amazing as always!

Theresa Clay

It would be great if you opened up more 4th and 5th tier spots! Please let us know when you do so because when I first signed up it was only 1 dollar spots! I wish I had known about tier 5! I would save all year to do that!

Natalie LaBayen

It would be great if you opened up more 4th and 5th tier spots! Please let us know when you do so because when I first signed up it was only 1 dollar spots! I wish I had known

Natalie LaBayen

So talented! I want to become a tier 4 member but it’s SOLD OUT. I signed up for tier 3 but if anyone drops or if you open more openings for tier 4 can you please let me know.

Raquel Burt

I was on a cruise and didn’t get to see this right way. Ugh, this is stunning! I wish I had 1/4 of your talent! You are just so inspiring.

Stephanie Porto

I want a broom like that😩!

Janet Rugay

You are so incredibly talented. I hope to eventually win one of your creations. Thank you so much for the Halloween card...it was the high point of my Halloween! I live in the south and no one really celebrates this holiday here...hope to get out one day. Anyway, can't wait to see what else you have in store!

Michelle Pittman

Oh so amazing! So much attention to detail and even with a piece of wood that proved to be a bit of a pain! Amazing craft as always xx

Amy Watler-Thomas

thank you <3

Lynn Weatherford

Great job Christine!! Happy Halloween Everyone!! :)

Merina Lewis

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Nicholas Frig

Beautiful

Claudia Garcia

I’ve also been researching how to make a witches broom. I have my stick, but not the stalks yet.

Rebecca Garcia

Beautiful! Thank you for the motivation!

Rachel Johnson

So beautiful.....you are making me feel so energized to work on my own creations this morning. I love how you trial and error your way through unknown territories.

Christian Anne Smith

This is insanely beautiful. Congrats to whomever won it!

Angela Jones

You didn't mention how horrible zebra wood smells.

Brooke Merry

amazing!

Courtney MacDonald

Beautiful!

Esther Reyes

This is AMAZING!! I so want to try making one.... Definitely with a different wood though πŸ˜‚ Can I ask about the air brush you're using? I saw you use it for baking as well, and it seems to give amazing results!

Naama

such a great video :)

Lara Sovulj

Beautifully detailed.

Marcy

This is so gorgeous! Wow!

Zelda

I feel you on the hard wood ruining the dremel bits, I've burned through several making bone carvings. That was a short-lived hobby.

Creepy Cat Lady

I love your cats' names!

Nicole Kayal

When I heard the wood you were using, I thought "She's going to get so frustrated and change it for something easier!" Well, may I commend you on your tenacity! And it's stunning!!!!

Lynn Weingarden-Marston

Amazing, I wish I was talented enough to do something like this

Alexandre nicoli

Jesus Christ......Can we just hang out and make things together?

Sara Logan

For a time crunch that broom is incredible! It was also brilliant that you used a pet comb to comb most of the seeds out. In fact I was thinking , you can use that on flax( the process of making Irish linen).

Yisim Lampiris-Tremba

I am sure one day your work will be regarded in the same way we think of famous sculptors and painters from history. You have an awe-inspiring talent.

Angelia Betscher

The process and detail work is incredible.

Kathy Gowell

AMAZING!!! To be the witch riding that broom! x

ElleDeJour

Goodness, is there anything you can’t do? This is beautiful!

Sarah Van Laarhoven

You have outdone yourself yet again! This is amazing! You inspired me to go to a woodworking class, it starts in January - hopefully once I'm a little more clued up, I can attempt something this awesome! x

Melinda DGW

Please tell me you did this project before cleaning for the house tour.

Angela Pogue

You inspire me to want to try more wood crafting projects! Your creativity is inspiring, Christine, thank you for sharing it with all of us. Your passion is contagious and will spark much creativity. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. Much love, Tess

Tess Llanos

amazing, so so beautifully done.

Angela Tedesco

I also came up with a "government" name for my ball of fur "Virginia," however as a kitten (rescued from underneath an SUV with fried chicken in a Wal-Mart parking lot) she would crawl into any hole or crevice in our baseboards and all we could see was a "puff" of grayish fur. Eventually we just gave up on her birth name and started calling her "Puff" or "puff-cat." She is ten years young and still a ball of grayish fur and one of the best and least destructive cats I've ever owned. She's also not afraid of water, which I hear is a trait of Ragdoll cats. She often walks the danger zone around the edge of my bathtub and I'm waiting for the day she falls in and eviscerates me trying to get back out. Literally death by Puff. She also looks as if she's wearing puffy pants from behind, so "Miss Puff Pants" has become a third moniker for her majesty. Cats really do destroy everything, but they're worth it absolutely. Miss Puff would eat all the broom corn off of that gorgeous broom.

Kris Rose

absolutely stunning!

Kimberly Kay Ragsdale

OMG. The broom is gorgeous. BUT your guest room was probably a BEAST to clean, you poor thing! Thank you for the cute label too!

Karmell Mazurek

Amazing!! And you were making me so nervous drilling towards those hardwood floors! ;)

Aimee G

Doreena Clark

This is beautiful, jaw dropping. You are so talented Christine !

Diana Galvan

I especially love the bird on the front of the broom! And the toad is the perfect touch. What a great project. Though your choice of wood was a challenge! But I am sure your assistants made ALL the difference. I have a few of my own. :) Thanks for sharing your creativity, it is always pure pleasure to watch.

Marcey Jastrab

Breathtaking as usual - Happy Halloween <3

Dalin Rowell

This is breathtaking. The raven and the road look so alive. That wood grain is just delicious.

There goes branch deverow, on her way to Florida by now hehe

Paula Osborne

This is so beautiful. I love the picture you paint of the termites dancing. They would surely would stay in the dust and leave this masterpiece alone πŸ–€

Fanny von B

Gorgeous. That tip on the rags is a great reminder. My dad used to be a fireman and he’s told me all sorts of tales of wood shops going up in the middle of the night!

Rachel Guy-Whittle

Magnifique !

Virginie Guillard

So amazing!!! I’d love a doll head planter of some kind!!!!

Teagan Hamblin

Absolutely beautiful! Also I was thinking of your next giveaway. What about a beautiful wood/painted food or tea tray. I love the 1940-50s and I was thinking of Thanksgiving/Christmas coming up. I have always loved the classic housewife with a tea tray full of treats. Would be a wonderful diy for everyone for the holidays coming up to serve family with your amazing twist on it. Take care!! :)

T’ana

Christine, when I watched your recent livestream and you showed us a sneak peak of the broom I didn't expect it to turn out so exceptionally beautiful. I guess by now I should've known that everything you touch becomes magical. Your hard work and vivid imagination inspires me every day!

Nastya Cherednyk

Lol. I decided I had to get one too. They're surprisingly cheap. I got one on Amazon with a lot of attachments for a really good price!

Orealgreenleaf

Wow! It's so beautiful! Also, I loved the thought of "Termites dancing on the ground in the sawdust". Bahaha πŸ˜‚

Orealgreenleaf

The witches broom is perfection!!! Congratulations to the Patreon winner of this master piece. You’re truly inspirational...

Carla Perea Seminaro

Outstanding! Thank you so much

Patricia Kelly

I love the eclectic variety of videos you do now Christine. From a couch, to a broom, to a bat cage, a gingerbread house and a house tour I watched twice because I couldn't stop looking at the neat details of things in your home. I am having so much fun being your Patron. You are so talented and seem so genuinely nice a person, you totally have us all bewitched!

Bree

It turned out beautifully, I really love the details!

Amber

Okay, now I want a Dremel tool;-)

Debby Carver

What a wonderful piece of art. Wish I had that kind of three dimensional talent for sculpting that you have Christine. Frasier you are one lucky person to have gotten this beauty! I do have two questions if you have time to answer; first off did you carve the both sides of the broom or did you leave one side flat? Second one is what size was the piece of wood board that you used to make this?

AsH

I'm pretty sure she said she had to do this in the guest room downstairs as she doesn't have a workshop! Wow, huh?!

samantha surovec

So good! You continue to amaze me. I hope you have a great Halloween in Salem.

Angie Holman

Your creativity and attention to detail (even under a time crunch) is amazing! I love seeing your little 'helpers', too! 😺😼

Terry L. Steffen

I do the same (but on youtube), actually watching her live stream now while I read comments. I Chrome-cast on my big screen. Have to admit, I get WAY more excited to watch Christine videos then anything I have watched on actual TV. How do you mirror-cast Vimeo onto a TV? is it an app?

Bree

Absolutely fantastic! Can’t wait to have a house of my own would love to do some wood working myself :) thank you so much for sharing all your amazing projects.

Janaya

Thanks so much for putting this on your Vimeo channel. I was able to watch this on my tv this time and really bask in all the details.

Erika Terriquez

I just discovered you on Netflix and you are simply amazing!!!! I’m a mother of 2 and wish I had the time to try to make your beautiful creations! Do you ever go on any type of tour? You are a gem

Camille Deering

Such a beauty! Harry Potter probably wished he had one of these babies!

Carnation

Amazing!!!

Courtnie Mccloskey

I was simply mesmerized watching you Create a majestic peace of art out of a slab of wood.... emerald eyes made the peace mystical.

Sandra

I love how you made a broom with such beautiful curves instead of a standard knobby straight one.

Jo

Stunning!

Ashley Blue

That is amazing!! Are you doing all of that work INSIDE your home or is your workshop as beautiful as your gorgeous home?!

Tracy Dawn Brewer

Love!!!!

Dawn Hessler

This is absolutely beautiful! I mean just shockingly gorgeous work! I’m glad I got to see this

Hawkzeyes

Very beautiful! I'm inspired to try this though probably with a different wood!

Christine Peterson

That is incredibly talented work! Fraser is one lucky guy! I am truly in awe right now.

PeterInHalifax

So beautiful! I am curious as to how you finally disposed of the oil rags and paper. I know you used a ceramic pot during the process but can you just throw them in the trash after or does it need a special kind of disposal?

Riley Slater

So spooky! Love it!

Katrina Laukaitis

Wow this is amazing I can't wait to get the materials list so I can make one!

Grayce

Love it! Amazing piece of art!

Tim Metcalf

Holly Bagley

WOW! I would literally die for this! So gorgeous! And you have the best "assistants".

Amanda Lovell

Love it! Hope you do some filming while you’re in Salem!

Susan Nack

WOW!! SO beautiful! I can't believe you persevered with the Zebra wood - that stuff is so hard. I hope you sent a link for the video to the wood store guy - he is bound to be impressed!! (And I have to laugh at your elegant guest room/wood shop!)

Aunt Debbie Halloween

That is SO incredible and the stain really brings out the grain of the wood!

Allie Mac

stunning!

Marisel Lopez

It's stunningly beautiful!! What a treasure made blood, sweat and tears!!

Jennifer Grenko

So whimsical, I love it!

Blake

GORGEOUS!!!

Ellerie β€œSit in Your Tears” Maddox

Or anything Christine can’t do? I’m just wondering because I’m starting to feel like I’m lacking in all areas after seeing this amazing creation as if it was this one that sent her over the top can we just talk about the couch!!!

Autumn Roberts

Fantastic episode! I'm glad it came out today I have midterms tomorrow. I hope you have fun with your mom in Salem this Halloween :-)
