Gothic Witches Broom - From the Mind of Christine McConnell
Added 2019-10-29 01:15:38 +0000 UTC
In this October episode I craft my own witches broom from African Zebra wood and recently harvested broom corn!
Wow! That is truly beautiful. Are you self taught at wood carving or did you take any classes?

Iβm catching up with all the shows long after the fact, but I thought that was exceptional. That wood is so hard to work with. I donβt believe I wouldβve tackled that. Everything you do is so amazing and you are so talented. Kudos! π

I waited too long after her first run and wound up buying a hard copy on Amazon for around $70 from a reseller. I would bet there are no more available copies that are not used or incredibly marked up new, as mine was. There was only 1 run of the book. So I would say if you can find a "new" or "like new" copy being sold by a reseller somewhere to just suck it up and call it an early Christmas present to yourself because I doubt that there will be a reprinting anytime soon if maybe never. I would love that for Christine and all the fellow fans, but I am sure her publisher would need to be convinced they would make a solid profit and cookbooks usually don't get demand again down the road unless you're Julia Child. . . So I went looking online for you to see if I could find one and I came across this waste of oxygen who marked her book up to $700. People like this make me so mad. They are like leaches. I hope no one buys it and rewards people like this. . https://www.ebay.com/p/210405903?iid=283423793268&chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=283423793268&targetid=593772136533&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9021555&poi=&campaignid=2086088136&mkgroupid=80059919711&rlsatarget=pla-593772136533&abcId=1141016&merchantid=113578590&gclid=CjwKCAjw0vTtBRBREiwA3URt7rdQJRhCuuwycwW7-4EX4if_rH4MnfObNxh4bmqqsWXxo77d3qpF4xoCiksQAvD_BwE

I also came up with a "government" name for my ball of fur "Virginia," however as a kitten (rescued from underneath an SUV with fried chicken in a Wal-Mart parking lot) she would crawl into any hole or crevice in our baseboards and all we could see was a "puff" of grayish fur. Eventually we just gave up on her birth name and started calling her "Puff" or "puff-cat." She is ten years young and still a ball of grayish fur and one of the best and least destructive cats I've ever owned. She's also not afraid of water, which I hear is a trait of Ragdoll cats. She often walks the danger zone around the edge of my bathtub and I'm waiting for the day she falls in and eviscerates me trying to get back out. Literally death by Puff. She also looks as if she's wearing puffy pants from behind, so "Miss Puff Pants" has become a third moniker for her majesty. Cats really do destroy everything, but they're worth it absolutely. Miss Puff would eat all the broom corn off of that gorgeous broom.

What a wonderful piece of art. Wish I had that kind of three dimensional talent for sculpting that you have Christine. Frasier you are one lucky person to have gotten this beauty! I do have two questions if you have time to answer; first off did you carve the both sides of the broom or did you leave one side flat? Second one is what size was the piece of wood board that you used to make this?

I'm pretty sure she said she had to do this in the guest room downstairs as she doesn't have a workshop! Wow, huh?!

I do the same (but on youtube), actually watching her live stream now while I read comments. I Chrome-cast on my big screen. Have to admit, I get WAY more excited to watch Christine videos then anything I have watched on actual TV. How do you mirror-cast Vimeo onto a TV? is it an app?

So beautiful! I am curious as to how you finally disposed of the oil rags and paper. I know you used a ceramic pot during the process but can you just throw them in the trash after or does it need a special kind of disposal?

WOW!! SO beautiful! I can't believe you persevered with the Zebra wood - that stuff is so hard. I hope you sent a link for the video to the wood store guy - he is bound to be impressed!! (And I have to laugh at your elegant guest room/wood shop!)
