Gorillas Wrestling

Gokong should be more respectful towards one of the oldest jacked gorillas in the story of children's entertainment, but maybe punching him as hard as he could is the best display of respect.

In two days it will be Gorilla Boxing Day, a small internet event led by Matthew Smith and themed about chunky gorillas, copyrighted or OCs, beating the crap out of each other.

It's formally a PG art event, despite such a theme being soaked in homoerotism, but it was the occasion to practice some action sequences that don't have to bend around the necessity to put a dick somewhere, so it was kind of refreshing.

It was also the occasion to test for the first time the new Celebrity Bangmatch comic book layout (yeah, you're seeing it right now) and I'm enjoying the freedom that it gives. This page would come back in CBM later, intertwined in the plot with balloons and backgrounds that will give a reason why these two are daring to have a non-sex fight in the middle of the tournament.

In case you're wondering, he's Tracy the Gorilla, from Filmation's Ghostbuster, you know the cartoon that ran during the 80s on the channels that couldn't afford The Real Ghostbusters.

It was charming, in the same way, that He-Man and She-Ra were charming and much more surreal and magical than the more famous show. It was for sure held back by the animation that couldn't compete with the standard of Japanese industry of the 80s, but at least Filmation kept all the jobs in the US.

Also, they had a giant himbo gorilla as a mascot and he takes more screentime in the intro than any other character. This would be considered furry baiting today.

I had planned to post it tomorrow, but since life for me is an infinite set of unexpected hassles that happen while I'm trying to plan time for drawing, better publish something earlier when I've the occasion.

See you soon!
