The Silly Saviors

The Silly Saviors

Oh wow, a super serious battle with scary and charismatic villains talking about the futility of life and resistance is happening. So many dark shadows on the characters, such a thunderous soundtrack.
Better call the Silly Saviors, who, with a shot of goo, a bunch of unnecessary references, and a yo-yo right in the face, will utterly ruin the mood and the expose the charismaniacs as the hacks they are, not even able to keep their cool after they lost a magical g...

A Bump on the Road

So, the Mighty Princes have stopped quite soon, eh?
Well, I had a few minor, very minor accidents that kept me away from the desktop PC, and I'm also involved in a non-art project for which I have to learn OBS.
So with an hour per day stripped from art time and the knowledge that random shit will always happen, I've realized that these monthly challenges are plain unfeasible for me and maybe for everyone who isn't ok with posting rushed crap for a month.
So I'm gat...

Mighty Prince Burst

Oh yeah, this Gnoll is powerful and fabulous and he's ready to turn enemy in ashes one sparkly twirl after the other.
Prince Burst is the magical boy alter ego of Dimetrius, by Painbow.
And this is just the teaser of my October series: Mighty Princes, an extended team of (mostly) orcs with magical boy powers that will fight the forces of evil.
Yeah, Future Funk mixes brainwashed me.

Autumn Header: Ready to Rumble!

Prepare to witness a clash of titans as the green orc and the purple gorilla step into the ring, where the roar of the crowd meets the roar of the wild! This is a showdown you won't want to miss!

Guys, this took an **awful** lot of time. Not just because it's the third header I make, not just because I drew so many background characters I got sick of it, not just because I felt like checking the model of this wrestling arena and had to fix the horrors I made a year ago, but mostly becau...

End of Summer Update

Hey guys, sorry for the unannounced hiatus, but I got caught up in a series of home improvements and usual Summer laziness.

Sure trying over and over for new profile headers ate up a discrete amount of time, and I'm finishing the third, which seems pretty satisfying and representative of what I make.

And I've decided to start a new series (the  teaser of that you see above) or better, a new habit of one-hour  doodles per day, which is a ...

A Painful Jog

"Hey guys, shouldn't we do cardio too? Maybe in the early morning, so it won't interfere with anyone's schedule, and I will bring my dog, who will cheer everybody up with their enthusiasm!"
And so this bunch of hypertrophic beasts learned that jogging is self-inflicted torture when every step is lifting 200+kgs of body mass with stubby cartoon legs. At least the primates do. The wolf is pretty comfortable, just a bit confused by the existence of dogs.
If you're wondering why the guys ...

Dog Days

Dog Days

Hey guys, you likely haven't noticed since I'm working on a bunch of lower-effort standalone pieces, but I'm not doing much art in the past ten days or so. That's because I've adopted a dog: Her name is Luna, an adorable mutt with a lot of Border Collie and some Husky in her, especially the eyes, the tail, and her lust for bird blood. The eyes are especially adorable because they make her look either sassy or dazed, but she's always adorable.

Steaming with Excitement

So guys, the good news (kinda.)

Do you remember me being very dubious about a punctual publication of the Armstrong Vs Winston update because I had to learn along the way and that's why it has taken me three months?

Well, not just that, I've also mentioned a micro-lag due to the post-processing of the program which I can't really switch off during the inking and shading phases because it makes very smooth sexy lines, but also my process like 50% slower.

Turns out, the proble...

Back to Grease Pencil - It's going to get greasy.

So guys, I started inking the CMB Pages a few days ago. Then realized I was basically doing pixel art for most of the faces and got frustrated. Even after I resized the page from the so-called comic book standard, the details looked blurry as hell.

Then I tinkered with Blender, realized that my problems with the delays and unreliability I experienced is sketching stemmed from my stupid ape brain not having noticed that there was the post-processing (i.e. very fancy autosmoothing) t...

So, apparently, Twitter is imploding, he?

It already feels like the traffic on the blue bird platform is decreasing, less tweets from real people compared to gimmick accounts run by bots, on my feed.

Also, the most recent update of Celebrity Bangmatch has received very small engagement, but that could boil down to my incapacity to give to the algorithm what it wants.

I mean, I don't even have 6k followers there, and I'm already banned from search suggestions. Mainstream platforms are getting increasingly hostile toward NS...

The Lowpolies

Here they are. It was fun, a bit of messing up. For sure my 2D abilities helped me a lot to place the edges in the more or less the right places. Now I will try to rig some of them and see if they help me to keep the proportions in the Celebrity Bangmatch scenes.
Ah, BTW, I made a pool about a short GoW series. Sorry if I look so erratic. You can vote here.

So, what am I doing right now?

Well, after a bit of relapse after the continuous mad dash of a daily art challenge, something that is completely incompatible with my lifestyle and I won't try EVER again, I've gone back to the Celebrity Bangmatch comic, wrote a rough script I've yet to edit, and I'm doing the sketches for the pages in bulk.

You might remember, or even notice by looking at the pages of the past match, that the stadium is made in 3D with Blender, and that was a time ...

Playing Pokemon is a waste of time

Last Wednesday I noticed that a new Pokemon trailer dropped. Mostly by the wave of lewd fanart on my Twitter feed. So I opened a Youtube tab and searched for it.
My expectations were pretty low, the usual critters idling at 6 FPS with their stupefied painted faces and sprawling wastelands with an origami tree put here and there.
But, oh boy, Game Freak is professionally committed to making each new game m...

Dumbledore becomes an Air Bender

No, he doesn't but Shaolin monks have been quite the source of inspiration for this variant of the headmaster of Hogwarts if he started hopping through universes in a jumpchain challenge (commission for the usual eclectic Rodney Talon) and learning the magic of martial arts instead of developing an extra-suicidal plan to vanquish Voldemort.

Twelve pages

So, I've finished the layout of the Kraven Vs Incineroar match of CBM (plus the interlude), and it's twelve pages. Not panels, pages with an average of five panels each.

I'm a bit intimidated but also excited because that means I can play freely with the spaces and the position of the balloons. Instead of cramming dialogues along the border of a panel, I can place them according to a flow. Make the bombastic actions big and the supportive ones tiny.

Yeah, they often go out of the ...

"Just" a run cycle

Hey guys, after the gargantuan work with the gorilla and the bull, I've decided to try something simpler. And I felt so humiliated by the difficulty it presented. I guess because my brain was just shut off after so much animation, and I couldn't imagine the movements in my mind.

But there it is, a beefy guy with bigger arms and legs in a run cycle, that I've to fix because his torso bends much more on his left than his right and we get a great view of his back but not his chest.

Gorillas Wrestling

Gokong should be more respectful towards one of the oldest jacked gorillas in the story of children's entertainment, but maybe punching him as hard as he could is the best display of respect.

It's formally a PG art event, despite such ...

Welcome!

Hey, it seems like the last post has drawn a lot of new people and I'm satisfied and grateful for that.

Welcome aboard guys, I hope that you will stick by. Even if an animation like the one that probably brought you here has been a giant mole of work I won't endure again for a while.

I will still animate, just simpler stuff, in the meanwhile, you can give a look a the stories I've already posted by sorting out the 2022-06-13 20:35:49 +0000 UTC View Post

I'm almost there

The animation is done! Or better, all the frames are done. 2D art, background camera movements and so on. Now I've to learn how the rendering process actually works, because there are two flubs that really ruin the end product, one of them is the lack of colors in the final video.

I've also to find a place where to upload my video, since Patreon doesn't let you host such big files.

Obviously Youtube isn't a...

SkyHorn's Adventures - Cover Chapter 2

Hey guys, just a little treat to remember you I'm still alive.
Just internally dead because I've reached the coloring part of the animation and it's extremely tedious and those tools from Blender 2D I've expected to be very useful (interpolation and multi-frame coloring) are not.
Turns out that when you ask a machine to do your job, you have to be painfully simple so the machine can make the right guesses, and that's the reason why modern cheap animation loo...

My wishes abut Steven Universe

This is a curious kind of commission from the lovable Rodney Talon, that asked me to draw whatever I wanted, so I chose our most recent discussion topic: Steven Universe.
Here imagined in a very fanart-y and fanfiction-y scene where he grows up and becomes a magical space knight, guardian of life in the ex-Gem Empire.
A direction that sadly wasn't taken in the SU Future series. That Steven probably is wa...

SkyHorn's cast as D&D party

In the past months, I've been listening to D&D podcasts while inking and coloring, and this game grew on me. I love how challenging is for writers, like having your story edited in real-time, without the option to dumb down your protagonists in order to further the plot because they're maneuvered by other players that want them to succeed, and you have to come up with actually smart ideas in order to still challenge them.

I've started imagining an assemble art piece with the charact...

I don't know why I just love the idea of putting anthros and fantasy races in casual clothing an imagine how their life would be in a modern/futuristic setting. Like how much variety in housing, clothin...

CMB - New Layout?

Like it happened with Skyhorn, I'm thinking about switching from the single-panel layout to a proper comic layout.

The single panel layout was intended to mimic a TV format, like we're watching a wrestling show, and also to favor the kind of attention from the average Twitter user.  Now that I've realized that pleasing Twitter's algorithm is an exercise in futility, I'm considering a classic comic layout that might help me give more power and motion to the key scenes and give space...

An unassuming tileset, and some news

Hey guys, I worked out a unity to repeat for the background of the Gorilla VS Merbull animation. Yes, because I want to make backgrounds and parallax effects. Because I'm a masochist.

The first version you see it's the one I'm going to use: made in Krita, it's a bitmap and Blender will handle it as a texture. The second one was made directly in Blender, it's a vector, but Blender itself couldn't handle the mole of data once I've started replicating it. ...
