Just internally dead because I've reached the coloring part of the animation and it's extremely tedious and those tools from Blender 2D I've expected to be very useful (interpolation and multi-frame coloring) are not.
Turns out that when you ask a machine to do your job, you have to be painfully simple so the machine can make the right guesses, and that's the reason why modern cheap animation looks so simplified and samey.
Because once your characters start having things like, ugh, skulls, joints, or - god forbid - muscles, the machine just goes badshit crazy in figuring out the intermediate steps from one frame to another, even if you manually tell the machine the correspondence between each line.
I shouldn't be so bitter since it means that the day of the takeover of the machines over creative works is still far away, but the stupid computer couldn't even do the in-betweens of the water effects without picking each stroke, crumble it up like a ball of paper, unfolding it towards the end and saying "done."
I must do a gif to show you how actually stupid it looks.
That's to say the animation was done entirely frame-by-frame, and I guess it's one of the biggest works made with 2D Blender so far. Too bad I won't publish it on Youtube.
When will it be ready? This weekend… I guess? I don't know. I have to compute also the risk of crashes in my work, because this bad boy is becoming so thick that Blender is having problems handling it during the coloring.
(Mostly because an objectively cool and useful feature Blender has is border recognition during fill coloring. It saves a lot of time, but it's pretty heavy for the app.)
