Added 2022-02-16 20:48:19 +0000 UTCI present you the 3D model of the stadium of Celebrity Bangmatch, which will be used to set the shots and backgrounds for the following panels of the comic. Less worry about perspective, more effort put in bodies and motion!
Oh boy, this took much more AND less time than expected.
More because this was one of the few times that I picked a tutorial series (about Blender) without zoning out and starting messing with all the know-how needed.
Less because the process of building the entire Arena was much quicker after. Honestly, by following some of the more specific tutorials, like "model a wrestling ring" I've noticed mess-ups that I would have avoided.
Oh, don't misinterpret me, there are a lot of mess-ups in these renders. For starters, the doors to the bleachers are overlapped with the steps, but I'm a 2D artist, I can patch them easily or just put a musclebound giant in front of them.
(Secondly, it took a while to understand how to save a render, so some of them are screenshots, hehe.)
If you're wondering about the outline you see, yeah, it has been generated by blender with the "Lineart Modifier", not recommended for organic shapes (as you can see with my orc models) but fully disposable for architecture.
Blender is such a complete tool, and you can't see it there right now, the Grease Pencil, the tool for 2D art is so fascinating and lighter in terms of performance than Krita.
It's just a bit trickier because it always tries to make up a mathematical curve out of your strokes, so sometimes feels more like pulling a rubber band than using a brush.
I'm going to paint the orc in 3D with it and you will see the result. It won't be Arcane for horny furries but something novel nonetheless.
