Vanish's Diary: Day 2
First day of working out. Tried to run through a martial arts "kata" routine that I learned from Kung Fu Commando back in the day. Attempted a high kick (didn't get very high) and then heard a ripping sound. Not sure if I tore the seam of my tights or my actual groin. Walking funny ever since. Should have done some stretches first. Think I'll make myself a Vicodin smoothie.
My workout routine flexes my vanishing powers as well as my body. Turning completely invisible is easy, like flipping a switch. Takes no effort. I can even sleep while I'm invisible. The problem is that when I'm completely invisible, I'm also completely blind. Light passes straight through my retina and I can't see a damn thing. I can easily hide, but I can't really move around or fight.
To be effective as a superheroine, I need to be able to control the "intensity" of my invisibility. The goal is to vanish as much as possible, while remaining visible enough that I can still see. I need to become translucent instead of transparent, which is NOT easy! It takes mental concentration and physical effort. Working out while translucent simulates what I experience when I'm in the field. I have to be able to physically exert myself while concentrating on my degree of invisibility. In my twenties, I could pull this off for about half an hour before exhausting myself. During my workout today, I was wiped out after just 10 minutes.
My powers are as out of shape as the rest of me, but I'll get there!
