Grow Your Own Brand tutorial

Supplement for $10+ Patrons here for this month~

New tutorial :D I love this subject and find it super useful for everything I do, and hope you do as well!

Credit to the folks who were kind enough to give me permission to use some of their work for illustrative purposes:

The supplement has a lot of practice in it, and weirdly is my fav supplement so far? It goes a bit more in depth about the elements mentioned here and gives some step-by-steps to assess and modify a brand for others or yourself. There are also too many crabs, but that was unavoidable.

Hope you like it and thanks for looking~

lol... I feel so dumb... (=///=) I kept on scrolling and saw that you do have a tutorial for the webcomics. I'm so sorry... Can I please get the worksheet for Writing for webcomics and Researching for webcomics?

Argh!! It deleted my whole message... TAT .... I'll just have to re-write it.... Thank you Der-Shing! I'm so excited to be your Patron! I love your comics ❤ I also make comics, but I don't know how to go about making them into webcomics. I would be eager to read your thoughts on how to make a successful webcomic tutorial and worksheet if you plan to do one in the future! Also, what is the best way to send you my link after pledging to the $10 lvl? You are inspiring! Keep on creating!

Haha, yeah, but the color scheme (dark on dark) pretty much ends at the site... black business cards don't look great, and large black swaths doesn't really read well or translate to ads/ merch. And the big heads aren't super practical... chapter 4, the chapter the site was stuck at for a while, had a problem where it was about two characters but the header space couldn't really accommodate that much so I had letters over Angora's face... sort of a mess. So, yeah! I agree it was memorable, that's why I used to have images at the top in both this and the earliest version of the site, but didn't work as a brand that can be reflected in more than one place (which is the distinction for the tutorial). And yeah I'm not a huge fan of the overhead ads either, I would prefer not to have them, but they're a requirement for HW so I tried to reduce their impact as much as I could by making the comic live area sort of overwhelming

she's not naked anymore okay she has perfectly good pants now I'm so sorry I may be aesthetically blind but I actually liked more the big Angora head on the top of the website - more than the ads anyway :( Don't get me wrong, I know ads are important and I also like the current design but I mean it's Angora she's so cute.

I think you mean... best idea

All these cute crabs make me want to pick up and hug a crab. :\ Bad idea though

Loren

Yeah! I think people are afraid of too much self promo, but the longer I'm around the longer I realize that your "true" audience doesn't care. The only people who complain are the ones who probably don't value your work that much, and it's okay and best for both you and them if they unfollow you.

Der-shing Helmer

Haha, no, webcomics is far too refined for that *sends ants to eat you*

Der-shing Helmer

I wove you in a not creepy way. Thanks for your hard work Der!

Luc

Extremely good job not getting into allelopathy with this (tho there are definitely people who use it as a business strategy...)

Ainsley Seago

I enjoy your tutorials so much! They are so full of laughs (and helpful info of course). This is a really important (and hard-to-grasp) subject too, especially when you grow up allergic to shameless self-promotion as it seems so many artists do

Lorian Merriman

This is EXACTLY what I need right now. Thank you so much!
