Well, actually we did it almost a month ago, but settling in a new place took some time. It was quite a trip, to be honest, not the most comfortable too. Getting out of Ukraine proven to be one of the biggest challenges we've overcome, but it was well worth it in the end. We're in Netherlands, living together with our programmer Cipheos, got to turn unused attic into neat living space and overall we're good. All good.
But how did it go overall? Long story short - horrible. First, we got stuck on Ukrainian/Polish border, because border police didn't want to let Young pass until they contact enlistment office, so they can prove his documents are legit. The problem? It was 3AM, obviously no one answered the phone, so they took us off the bus ride to Warsaw and said, that we can either turn around ang go f-k ourselves, or stay on the border (freezing cold by the way) and wait till morning, so they can call the office again. Staying was the obvious choice, but there was no place for us to sit, not even talking about sleep, and oh boy were we exhausted. Young did his usual magic and found the roadside café for truck drivers. It didn't offer beds, but at least there were chairs and walls to keep us warm. Also awful coffee for ten times its price, but it has it's charm, doesn't it? In the morning, we get back to the border and what do you think? They said we're good to go! But they also took us from our bus ride, so technically we still been stuck. Gladly, next bus coming by agreed to take us onboard and drive us to Warsaw for a humble price.
Few hours pass and we finally got there. Now, another problem - our train ride to Prague, where Cipheos supposed to pick us up was in the morning and we obviously missed it due to hiccup on the border. Bigger problem - all tickets are sold out. For a week. Like, none of them left. Tons of refugees are chilling on train station trying to figure out what to do, and we're among them. We decided "damn it all" and rented a room in a local hotel, so we can finally get some proper sleep in a proper bed, stuff can wait till morning. Morning comes, same problem - no tickets. We're clueless regarding what to do, the only feasible option is if Cipheos gonna pick us up there on his car, but it's twelve hour drive if he's lucky, then twelve back. Rather exhausting, as well as costy.
Then our luck comes into play yet again: Somehow Cipheos haы been able to fetch us tickets on the train to Berlin, and not just any tickets, but also premium ones. To be fair, that's only ones that been left, but hey, we're not complaining! So we got on a train. Ride was quite uneventful, we met some nice people, chatted a bit, had a short nap and boom! We're in Berlin. Though we didn't have to stay there for long, just in thirty minutes or so our friends finally picked us up. There's no way we can express how we felt at that moment, the sheer feeling of finally getting to safety and meeting some of the dearest people you have - it was overwhelming. Tears were shed, especially by Young. He got all soft. And yes, Young is writing all of this and I'm not ashamed to admit the fact that I missed my friends so much I turned into a big huggy bear for a moment!
Anyway, one long car ride later and we're in Prague. Starting from there, trip was alright, just as it was supposed to be from the beginning. Sure, it took us some time to finally get to Netherlands, but in comparison to everything we already got through - chilling in a car to some good music was piece of cake.
And so we're finally here, in Netherlands, waiting for our papers to go through so we can get permit to stay for longer than three months. It's mostly a matter of getting through bureaucracy, and if I was to pick between this or going back to warzone, I'd pick bureaucracy any day. That's about it.
What a trip it was, oh boy, but I'm glad it's all past now. We already set up our workplaces and working tirelessly on delivering some good ass content, so don't worry about that part.
Thanks to everyone, who supported us on our way here. It means world to us, really. I mean, like, we literally wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you, people, so thank you. We promise to do our best to repay this debt in the best way possible - by making so many updates, you'd have to start asking for extra days off from work, or school, or some other stuff that keeps you occupied.
Love you all. Really, really much.
Big thanks from your's truly,
Young & Naughty team.
