edit: sorry y'all the months got a little mixed up in my head -- the holo fairy is for May, and the "mortal coil cat" will be the June sticker <3
Hello!! I’m doing a bunch of sketching for the May postcard (I know, I’m behind, I KNOW) but I suddenly got self-conscious about my “little guy holding a big strawberry plant” piece from this sketch cause, for some reason, I feel like they’re too “simple” which I know is a judgment I really gotta shake off:

I do wanna try this traditionally…
And for the little “tiny fairy village” piece, I want to do some more studies of my photos, so that’ll be the June postcard, so I was trying to figure out what to do for my May print and then I remembered this piece from May 2021, and how it was my third redraw of it in about a year and a half.

So, I decided since it’s May again, I thought it could be fitting to do another rendition of it, three years later! I know that I just had a redraw for my March postcard, and basically I want to make sure yall don’t think it’s boring or a cop-out or whathaveyou. I find redraws fun cause it takes away the burden of having to think of a full idea for a piece and lets me just play around with stylization and composition and stuff. Also, it’s so surreal seeing that first sketchbook version from early 2020?? I think???
I wanna give yall more insight into my weird little anxious artist brain, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!
The little tired mortal coil cat is gonna be our June sticker btw >:) (the holo fairy is our May one!!) gonna order extra just to hand out to my theatre friends heh. For those unaware, I know the term “mortal coil” from Hamlet’s famous soliloquy, wherein lies this section:
To die, to sleep;
To sleep, perchance to dream—ay, there's the rub:
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause—there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.
“Mortal coil” is referencing essentially the whole human experience of being alive. This monologue is WAY more of a downer so I hope the tired cat communicates the weariness without all the…other stuff. 🫠
Love you! Happy Friday!
