Chapter 1: Prologue

The planet was crumbling apart.

Two great forces of unimaginable power clashed against each other unrelentingly and ferociously.

"RAAHHHHHHHHRGH!!!!!!" A green giant figure of a man roared loudly, releasing green energy beams from his mouth that destroyed everything around him.

Chunks of rocks and debris became completely atomized, with the hot toxic wind pushing away everything away in a ten-mile radius.

His opponent, a blue-haired fighter, radiating godly aura, dodged the blast perfectly by jumping high in the air.

He then shot him with two blue energy balls that pushed against his green energy attack completely overpowering him.

This was followed by his opponent's most devastating technique, [Meteor explosion] that rained down thousands of blue energy blasts that further damaged the crust of the planet.

He was completely drowned in a sea of blue Ki attacks.

He brought his arms together and released an expanding dome of pure green energy with another roar.

"AAAAAARRRGH!!!" This move protected him from the [Meteor explosions].

The impact caused a giant crater to form on the surface of the planet, destroying a near city-sized area.

Their clash could be felt all around the planet. Especially from two running green-skinned aliens.

"If they keep fighting, Broly's gonna be killed!" Shouted Lemo.

An old veteran in the Frieza Force. He was in this situation cause he wanted to help out Broly and make sure his friend, Cheelai, doesn't die from her actions.

Without him, she would have already been killed by the Lord himself. She always secretly joked about Frieza's height, many have died from similar remarks.

Cheelai was a near human-like humanoid with short white hair, thin white eyebrows, green skin and a slender yet curvy build.

She was a low-class soldier working for the Frieza force. She along with Lemo were tasked to collect the dragon balls for lord Frieza so that he could defeat Goku and Vegeta.

"Damn his father! He turned him into this, in his heart Broly's just a confused boy!"

His naive wonder for simple things like water and rations showed her his childlike innocence. His eyes filled with compassion and his heart pure of evil thoughts.

"I can't sit around and let him die, he's a pure kind-hearted Saiyan, whose only friend in the universe was a kind animal!

"We can't let this be his end!" Shouted Cheelai.

This was all Paragus's fault! That filthy excuse of a father used his son as a tool for revenge against king Vegeta!

And heck, he had long died alongside the Saiyan home planet, so he should have let go of his stupid revenge!

But now he was targeting the prince who had nothing to do with Broly. He trained his son and kept him in control with a shock collar like an animal.

How can he consider himself as a father!?

He was the one responsible for Broly's current state, and she dreamed of killing that bastard for good. But she knew Broly still held some love for his father, so she couldn't do it.

The surrounding earthquakes began to worsen from the aftershocks, the facility would soon be destroyed!

"Hurry! We don't have much time!" She urged Lemo to run faster as she increased her speed.

The battle raged on to an unfathomable degree.

Even with Broly's ever-increasing power, he could not keep up with the now fused Goku and Vegeta.

Gogeta.

This new entity was leagues above anything he had faced before. Gogeta's powers were just too high for him to catch up in time.

"Haaaa!" The blued haired Saiyan raised his hand to the sky, slowly forming a multi-coloured sphere on his palm.

Unlike the blue energy blast, this attack was many times more powerful and condensed. It held the power to destroy the planet thousands of times over.

Gogeta launched the attack, in its path space itself distorted showing off its sheer attack power.

The moment it hit Broly, a pillar or destructive energy surrounded Broly, bringing him an untold amount of pain and damage.

After Cheelai and Lemo successfully gathered the dragon balls, they witnessed the sight of the legendary dragon ascending from the ground.

[I shall grant you any one wish, that is within my power!]

...

Cheelai did not know the process to make a wish, so she held hostage one of Frieza's goons and brought him here. "Okay, what do you say next? Hurry up with it!"

The good refused to answer, she was getting desperate. Broly wouldn't be able to last much longer.

"Fine then, I'll shoot!" She threatened him at gunpoint.

That seem to do the trick as it broke through the goon's fake bravado.

"No! No! Please don't, I'll read it now!" He explained to her, how she just needed to word out her wish clearly to the dragon.

"That's all? I thought it would be harder." For a wish-granting dragon, she expected something more complicated process.

Well, she can't complain.

"Alright, listen up dragon!" She bravely looked up at the dragon, despite his intimidating size she didn't waver nor cower.

She had to do this for Broly.

...

He was tired, he couldn't keep up.

They had fought against each other for hours. Yet he wasn't even close to defeating him.

His rage continued to grow, his father's death constantly replaying back in his mind.

The animalistic fury wouldn't leave him. It stuck to him like a parasite, ever-growing with an end in sight.

"KAAAAAAA..."

Yet seeing the blue energy forming between the palms of Gogeta...

"...MEEEEE..."

...he knew he would die...

"...HAAAA..."

...his anger was still present, but this time fear began to creep in as well.

"...MEEEEE..."

He was going to die.

"HAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

The beam of condensed energy began closing on him. He couldn't defend himself against it.

'I don't want to die.'

"AAAAAAAHHH!" This time he screamed not in anger but fear, calling out for help.

On the other side of the planet, a few moments before Gogeta used his [Ultimate Kamehameha] attack.

"Save Broly! Send him somewhere far away where he can find peace! Please Great Dragon!" Cheelai desperately screamed out her wish, hoping the dragon would save her friend in time.

In another universe, her words were a bit different. The wish would have sent Broly back to the planet where he grew up on.

But this time without her realising it, she unconsciously changed her wording whose consequences was much bigger than she realised.

The dragon's eyes flashed red.

[Your wish shall be granted!]

...

As the Kamehameha wave was about to reach Broly, a mysterious force suddenly pulled him away from space and time.

"What the?" Gogeta was caught surprised by the sudden phenomenon, but he didn't stop his attack.

The giant beam went straight through the area where Broly used to be at and destroyed the entire landscape till it continued beyond the edge of space.

That pull hurtled Broly across a vast distance that went beyond the angels and Zeno's reach.

They had obviously noticed it but none were bothered to do anything about it. Or rather they didn't find it necessary to do so.

Something that shouldn't have been possible, but Shenron was no ordinary dragon.

He was thrown into another omniverse entirely.

...

Clink!

Clink!

Deep inside an underground cave, hundreds of slaves shackled in iron chains could be seen mining the hard stones of the cavern.

All wore rags as clothes, from young children to elderly people, all were held prisoner in the tower.

Living was hard, with rations being scarce and the daily beatings from the guards always guaranteed a few deaths every day.

Yet somehow the people behind the scenes always found a way to bring in more slaves.

Erza was one of these slaves forced to work for days on end.

If it weren't for the help of Bob, she along with Jellal, Sho, Simon, Wally and Millianna wouldn't have survived this long.

But today was different, a strange phenomenon took place.

A boy had crash-landed in the middle of the mine, startling everyone and the guards.

He had wild black hair and a few scars around his body.

If others were to see this, they would wonder what kind of torture this young teenager went through. She called him a teenager because he looked to be older than her and her friends.

Just from his height, she could guess he matched Bob.

"Jellal! Bob! Come quick, he's moving!" The boy soon began awakening, trying to open his eyes while moving his arms to face to block out the sun.

The guards had retreated to gather their weapons just in case, leaving the rest of the slaves around the boy.

As soon as he woke up, he began looking around and noticed the many people watching him in wonder and pity.

She decided to take action and talk to him.

"Hey, you! What is your name?" She asked him.

"Huh?"

Broly wondered where he ended up at.

Chapter 2: In the tower

(Flashback)

Bam!

"ARGH!" A young Broly crashed into the ground forming a small crater around him.

His body was hurting, his hands were broken, his lips were cut and bleeding and his mind was on the brink of losing control.

His father called his power a gift, the ability to harness the power of the great ape being the greatest source of the power of all saiyan kind.

His powers just happened to be more attuned to it.

"Raaaaaargh!" He pushed past everything, letting his Ki swell around him, creating a fiery white coloured aura with a slight green tint.

Ignoring the pain of his wounds, he stood up, the Saiyan armour he always had on his now had an extra crack in it. He got back into a fighting stance.

"Yes, That is how you fight Broly! Always stand up! Never lose in a battle, or else only death awaits you!" Paragus came flying in, ready for another round of training.

He did not want to fight.

"Do you hear me Broly!" Paragus flashed a remote at him.

Broly stance became rigid and frightful, his neck still sore from the regular shocks from the collar he was forced to wear. Every single time at the push of the button, unimaginable pain would rack his body for what felt like forever.

"Y-Yes, fa-father," Broly said submissively, his words slightly slurred.

This has been going ever since he was out of his pod. The harsh training, the cruel environment and the dangerous creatures. Each tried their hardest to kill him, but he prevailed and even came to enjoy the place.

Vampa became his home.

He even made a friend, Bah.

But his father didn't share his opinion, his only desire was to one day leave and have him enact revenge on King Vegeta.

Having friends and playing around was seen by him as a sign of weakness and laziness. His father had cut off the ear of Bah in his anger which broke the trust and friendship he had with the beast.

Broly still kept the cut off ear on his waist, hoping one day, they may return to what they once were.

"Remember Broly, the moment you lose is the day you will die."

To lose.

Lose...

...never lose...

...always win...

...no matter what.

(End Flashback)

"Hurgh is this all the progress you've done!?" Erza's heart stopped as she heard the shout from the guards. "Work harder, or else you will be replaced vermin! These last few days might have been easier for you all but don't forget, you are still slaves!"

The guards were doing their routine check-up of everyone's progress. Today, old man Kale was the unfortunate one. Without proper food, he had grown very weak and frail. Not to mention his old age made it impossible for him to mine like the rest. Just walking took great effort on his part, no matter how much he tries, he wouldn't be able to mine.

"Oi, Dero, you're wasting your time with these slaves. This old man will soon die on his own, just assign someone else in his position." Advised another guard.

Erza did not want to stay anywhere near them for any longer. She stealthy left the area without the guards noticing her. She was small enough to squeeze by other people and remain hidden while doing so, the only problem being he red hair which was very eye-catching.

Her task of collecting the daily rations was done so she walked back to Rob and the others.

She soon came to spot the newest addition to their group. Wild overgrown hair, tanned skin and a height that dwarfed everyone despite him still looking like a teenager.

Broly.

Two prominent scars covered his body, one on his chest and another one on his face. He got them before ending up in the Tower of Heaven. That shocked her and the other, as they thought he might have been a slave before ending up here. Broly tried to ease them up by saying it was from training but it only made them worry more.

His clothes were in better condition than the rest of the slaves. he wore black boots with white borders and green-striped toes, purple form-fitting pants, and black armbands with white ridges.

In addition to that grey coloured fur, he never took off. According to him, it belonged to an old friend of his and he hoped one day they could play together again.

Normally the guards would have long taken away such apparel from anyone, but Broly was a different case.

He crushed one of the guards hands when he tried taking away the fur. The rest proceeded to attack him with spears, swords and magic attacks but none even scratched him.

After a while of constant attacking, the guards became tired and Broly, oddly didn't retaliate once. Rather he went to sit in a random spot and began resting.

For the following days no guards ever disturbed him, they were too scared of the guy. Not knowing how to deal with him, they just left him alone, for now. Erza didn't know much about the inner working of the ones behind the tower but she knew that they wouldn't let Broly have his way for long.

"Broly-niichan, I brought food!" She blushed a bit with the name calling. Erza didn't want to be left out, so she hard resorted to calling him as such. One thing she found out about him, was that he found the slop they were feed and the dirty water to be extremely delicious.

Jellal and the rest looked at him like he was some sort of alien. He ate the gruel with the hard as rocks bread with gusto and a wonder-filled face. Treating everything as if it was one of the best meals he had eaten in his life.

"Do you have enough for the others?" Asked Broly while he carried a stone twice his size like it weighed nothing! Literally taking over everyone's workload, including herself. "I can ask for more."

Jellal who now always trailed behind him like a lost puppy answered, "No need Aniki! Thanks to you the guards don't dare to mess with us anymore!"

'For now.' she thought.

Jellal along with the rest had taken an immediate liking to Broly. He, Millianna, Sho and Wally saw Broly as a hero and as a big brother figure.

Including herself.

"Yeah, I got extra rations from the guards, they even gave me cans of clean water!" Never had she ever thought that her time in this hell hole would one day turn for the better. Don't get her wrong, she Erza desired nothing more than to leave this place, it just so happened that thanks to Broly's presence things have become a bit more bearable.

"Erza you're back." Rob came out of the small tent, his face no longer tired from the hard work ever since Broly took over it. "Are there any injured people today? I can use my magic to heal some of them."

She remembered the recent scene from the guards. "Old man Kale is in bad health, he'll need your help, Rob."

Rob nodded his head, "I'll visit him in a few moments."

Crash!

She and Rob suddenly felt an earthquake explosion from the mining area. If this happened a few days ago, she would have worried about there being a crushed tunnel, which usually meant someone died.

'He makes it look so effortless'

But now, nearly everyone including the guards would come and spectate the source of the noise. It being none other than Broly creating a massive crater from just a single punch.

'He's so strong!' she couldn't help but be in awe at him.

"So cool!" Jellal screamed out loud with the others following suit. "Yeah, Broly!"

"Oh my god, he is going to destroy everything!"

The guards trembled in their boots at the display. They wondered why such a monster decided to stay and work in the mines of Tower.

He obviously had strong physical enhancing magical spells coupled with defensive ones since they couldn't hurt him.

Yet he always remained docile and took up the workload of nearly everyone involved.

Erza smiled at this display.

Who knew the once barren place, devoid of any sort of joy. Only filled with misery, out of nowhere began changing into a small yet joyful environment.

She hoped she could convince Broly to save everyone from this place.

Chapter 3: Magic

-The Tower-

“Rob...” The redhead girl asked. “What is magic?”

To her side was an elderly man, healing what seem to be an injured fellow slave.

“Magic is a supernatural force that occurs regularly in everyday life, used as tools and bought and sold all over the world. It is also the main form of art or combat utilized by Mages.” Rob explained, with his hands glowing in a green hue of colour. “It has been around for centuries. Every type of magic comes from ‘The One Magic’, the original source of all types of magic. It was once oppressed and feared, but gradually became an everyday phenomenon.”

Finished healing his last visitor, Rob sent him away, paying close attention for any appearance of the guards.

He looked at his young assistant, the ever-curious and stubborn Erza, whose fascination for his healing arts was plain to see. “Do you wish to learn magic?”

“Yes!” Erza shouted out excitedly, “I always tried concentrating while doing the same motions as you but it never worked...”

Isn’t that just precious, watching her mimicking his actions did bring a form of amusement.

“Hohoho! Magic is the physical embodiment of the spirit. When the physical spirit of an organism connects with the spiritual flow of nature, the spirit forms Magic as a product of the connection. Though magic goes beyond reason, it is still born of reason and it takes an enormous amount of concentration and mental ability to use it.” He gestured for the girl to come closer. “Now, sit down and close your eyes.”

She listened, sitting down crossed legged, Erza followed Ron’s instruction and closed her two eyes.

“Good, now in all corners of Earthland lies the presence of Ethernano, which is the term coined to name particles of magic. Every Mage has a ‘container’ inside their body that determines the limits of their magic power. If the case becomes empty, Ethernano will come from the atmosphere and enters the Mage’s body and after a while, their Magic Power is restored.

“So for your draw and awaken your latent magical prowess, you must first sense the flowing Ethernano in the air. Do NOT try and grasp it, as it will only escape from your hold. Instead, lead it through your body, through your heart, your brain and finally your ‘core’.”

Erza focused all her being into feeling out this concept of Ethernano being flowing through the air.

Taking a deep breath, Erza created a mental image in her head of holding a bucket that represented her body, the well which was her core trying to fill in with water which was the Ethernano.

Slowly she started to feel certain shifts deep within her being, this feeling ran along her whole body. She continued imagining herself filling the ‘water’ in the ‘bucket’ from the ‘well’.

Rob noticed a few pebbled in her surrounding that began slightly hovering in the air before falling down. ‘Telekinesis, indeed. She just needs a push to fully awaken it.’

She tried for minutes which soon turned into an hour with little success.

“I can’t do it...I...I...just don’t feel it.” Erza tried holding back her tears, she always wanted to be a mage and escape from this hell. Yet to this day she could not even take the first step in becoming a mage.

Thankfully Rob was there to console her, “There, there young child. You cannot get results so quickly without knowing of patience first. Continue practising and soon you will be able to perform magic, I know you can since I feel your potential.”

What he saw just a moment ago was more than enough to assure him that Erza had a future as a mage of Fairy tail.

His words seemed to work as she recomposed herself and wiped her tears away. “I-I am going to check on Broly and the others.”

She needed to distract herself and how else could she do it aside from spending time with her ‘kinda sorta but not really’ big brother?

She didn’t know, all she cared about is how safe she felt around him, so did everyone else. He was like the Sun in the darkness of the abyss.

“I’ll help out later, Rob!”

...

“Broly!”

She soon found him sitting in the middle of a crater he punched, eating the disgusting inedible gruel leftovers.

It had been a month since he crash landed in the tower. Despite his huge physique and older age than hers, he was in fact very naïve and childlike.

At first, he would barely talk with anyone, he just chose to remain seated all alone in the corner ignoring everyone even the attacking guards, lost in his thoughts.

It was to the combined effort of everyone that they managed to make him talk and interact with them. This was possible by giving him either food or water. Even asking him to play with them would work.

Every day he would take up the tasks of the slaves just so he could get done with it quicker and play games with Jellal and the rest.

It was a bit weird seeing a man who looked to have a body made of rocks and boulders, hide in a corner while playing hide and seek.

She genuinely enjoyed her time with him, from teaching him some words he wasn’t familiar with to how to read which she learned from Rob.

Erza acknowledged that she could be a bit strict sometimes, but it wasn’t that bad. Jellal, Millianna, Sho and Wally were just exaggerating.

Her punches were just to motivate them.

Even Broly didn’t mind her punches, not that he could feel them anyway since she stopped doing it as his skin was like iron.

(Flashback)

“This is read as ‘A’ and combined with this character it becomes Ba.” Her daily teaching was going well. Broly could recognise each character, all that remained was combining them into sentences.

Broly scared away the guards and even brought extra food for the rest. Giving them more time to study.

For now, she was using a stick she found and began using the ground to write characters.

The scene of an eleven-year-old girl teaching a man thrice her size and probably a few years older than her stunned many people.

There was Erza standing, acting all high and mighty with a strict face with folded arms. Looking over a kneeling Broly struggling to write a simple word. “Ba?”

“That’s ‘Sa’, you idiot!” Erza instinctively hit Broly’s head only to immediately regret it and kneel over holding her now red knuckles. ‘Never doing that, again.’

“Ah, are you okay Erza?” Being the gentle giant he was, Broly immediately worried about her. His big hands gently touched her bruised hand, they felt warm and comfortable. It was sweet and made her blush a bit.

“I-I’m fi-fine!” Shouted Erza, all flustered. “Yo-you ca-can let go now!” Honestly, she wanted to stay like this for a bit longer, being taken care of by an elder sibling-like figure...felt good.

In the background, the Millianna and Sho began snickering from their little display. “Erza has a crush~” Millianna couldn’t just let such an opportunity to tease Erza pass.

“Hey, sh-shut up!” Her fiery attitude returned full force as she now faced the retreating Millianna who kept calling it a crush. “Come back here!”

Broly was left puzzled on why Erza got all angry like that, he hoped she wasn’t mad at him.

(Flashback end)

“I need your help.”

Patience was a virtue according to Rob, he told her before that she needed to wait and practice before she could fully awaken her magical prowess.

But unfortunately, she didn’t have the time.

She didn’t want to wait.

The sooner she awakened them, the sooner they could escape from the tower. At first, she wasn’t so confident in their chances but with Broly on their side, it was practically guaranteed. “I need you to teach me magic!”

Out of everyone here, he was the strongest, yet it boggled her why he remained here and didn’t just escape. A part of her mind was grateful he stayed as she didn’t want to see him go away.

“Magic?” He looked at her in puzzlement, wondering what she was talking about. “I don’t understand.”

“You know, how you’re so strong, can’t get injured and everything? I want to learn to do the same thing as you!” She explained to him, thinking he was just unfamiliar with the term magic despite clearly using it.

Broly shook his, “This is Ki, not magic.” Now it was Erza’s turn to be confused by his words.

Ki? What even was that?

To prove his point, Broly raised his hand and channelled some Ki into it. A white transparent aura engulfed his entire hand, making the surrounding wind howler by its very presence.

Erza even being a good distance away could feel the raw power behind it. It made her want to learn it even more.

“Ca-can you teach me? Please?” She didn’t care if it was Ki or magic, in the end, they were the same, in her opinion.

“Okay,” Broly easily agreed which surprised Erza as she expected some kind of hesitation.

“Really?”

“I only know of one method my father used on me when I was small.” Not that it helped much. No amount of energy transferred from Paragus would ever be sufficient for Broly, his father had only done that to experiment on him. “I will run my Ki through you.”

“What?” It was the first time Erza hear of such a method, even Rob did not mention her anything remotely similar.

“It was what my father thought me,” Broly explained some of his past training with Paragus which disturbed Erza greatly.

What kind of father would treat their child in such a way? That’s horrible!’ Despite her anger, she noticed how Broly didn’t show any kind of negative feelings for his father. “Don’t you hate him for that he did to you?”

Her question was met with a headshake. “Even after everything he had done to me, he was still my father.”

A twisted kind of familial love, being the only one who raised him and cared for him, Paragus held an unshakable place in his heart. Broly both loved and feared him, just the phantom pain from his neck made him lose all strength.

Yet that anger kept showing its head. His great ape anger always flared at any moment.

Broly remembered the consequences, the destruction he caused on that planet. He was not in control and in his rage nearly killed everyone.

That would not do.

He did not know where he was right now, it wasn’t Vampa nor Earth. The moment he woke up, he could feel it.

That is why he chose to stay, for he feared not the others but himself the most. He decided to stay for awhile in this tower with these people while trying to get a hold of his rage.

He didn’t know how to do it.

He learned to have fun with Erza and the rest. The games he played, their conversation, basically everything involved with them would calm his inner rage.

The great ape inside him would instead feel curious about these people.

He was nearly there.

Just a bit more.

...

Never in her life did Erza ever think she would be even remotely satisfied with the death of a person.

That man was a monster instead of a father.

A shock collar of all things!?’ Was he truly his father? She could not imagine the pain Broly went through, at least she had Rob, Simon, Jellal, Millianna, Sho and Wally. But Broly had no one aside that maniac.

Good riddance.’ The dark part of her mind whispered. Erza shook her head to get rid of these thoughts. ‘It's wrong to think like this.’

“Now just concentrate.”

As per his instructions, she closed her eyes and concentrated, remembering Rob’s teaching.

She felt Broly’s hand touching the top of her head and tried ignoring the warm feeling in her cheeks.

Shhhhh

“-!”

Heavy!

Her body suddenly felt like it was being filled with liquid metal, her blood boiling from inside. “Kyaaa!” She involuntarily released a pained cry which stopped Broly.

“No! Don’t stop I can take the pain!” If she backed off now from a little pain, then she would never be able to accomplish her dream.

He hesitantly resumed his actions, the flow of Ki from his hands decreasing a bit. Her knees nearly buckled from all the weight his power carried.

Her core, which she hadn’t felt its existence till now, began feeling like it would get crushed from the invading Ki. It tried to push back, using everything at its disposal but to little avail.

Unknown to Erza, her nose began to bleed.

Broly again nearly stopped, till he remembered his training with Paragus. ‘Remember Broly, the weak always die!’ His words reverberated in his mind.

‘I don’t want Erza to die in the future.

Not left with any more energy to draw from, her inner core was left with only one option. To draw in all the surrounding Ethernano to survive.

Woosh!

A cool feeling came rushing in from the outside, and began battling against Broly’s Ki. Her core absorbed more Ethernano than it could hold forcing it to expand.

“Ngggh!” She ground her teeth from the sheer pain and pressure. But now she could feel it!

“Haaaa!” Just like breaking an imaginary wall, her core reached its limit and released all the accumulated magic like a bursting dam!

The surrounding rocks began levitating in the air, some even twice her size!

Rob who came in rushing from the earlier cry of pain, witnessed this unbelievable sight. “Oh, my gods...she...she awakened her magic!” He cheered.

Just a moment ago, she failed in her attempts, now here she was displaying her telekinetic powers, all thanks to Broly!

Just what is that kid?’ He held such a mysterious form of magic he hadn’t ever seen in his life.

“Okay, that’s enough.” Broly didn’t know if what he was doing was correct or not, but seeing the effects of Erza’s power in his surrounding, he concluded that it somehow worked.

Erza opened her eyes and witnessed her telekinetic powers. “I...I did it?”

“Hnn,” Broly grunted in approval.

“I did it.”

“I did it!”

Lost in her joy, she hugged Broly around his waist with her height. Him being unfamiliar with such a gesture didn’t know what to do.

“Hahahaha!” Rob laughed at the comical sight.

“Hey, Broly...” Erza whispered still hugging him, “...will you help us escape from this place?” She asked timidly.

“You don’t like it here? But it seems like a nice place, better than my home.” He questioned.

‘I promise to show you a better world, outside.’ Erza thought.

“The outside is far more beautiful, I can show it to you. We can join the Fairy tail guild together and go on quests with Jellal and the rest!” The more she talked the more excited she became.

“A guild?” Broly was again lost at the meaning of the word.

“Yes a guild, it’s a place where you can join to help out other people in need. You can go on an adventure, make friends and eat the best foods!” At least that’s what Rob told her. “It’s like a family!”

A family...

The only family he once had was his father, who died because of him...

Because he lost control of his anger.

Could he risk having someone else?

“So, will join me? Please we can be a family together!” Seeing the young girl pleading, so attached to him, he hesitated.

He suddenly had a memory of Cheelai and Lemo. Though he had known that pair for less than a day, he enjoyed every moment with them.

If he had a way to travel in space...he would try and find them, one day.

“Hnn” In the end he accepted.

...

The guards who were stationed to watch over Broly flinched from his every movement, their face all white and their knees shaking from fear.

One of these guards used to be an enforcer, not that he lost his post but rather he could no longer do it because of that...thing, his teeth clenched in frustration. “Did our informants find out where this freak came from!?”

By his side, an equally scared guard came to report. “No sir, our spies in the Magic Council found no such plans from any of the members. We couldn’t even find anyone in the records matching the description of...Broly.”

Not even the Magic Council knew of him? That was good since it meant that they had no relation with him and that he was not one of their agents.

Ever since his crash in the mines, Broly had taken up the task of every slave for no apparent reason.

They tried to apprehend him and kill him with no success, spears could not pierce him, swords could not cut him and most unbelievably of all was magic just washed over him like water!

This was crazy!

Not even the Ten Saints could boast at being immune to magic attacks! The only person who had the capability to do it was Gildarts with his crash magic according to rumours. ‘Just where did this monster come from!?’

“What of those restraint measures I asked for!?” The enforcer shouted. “We have to get rid of him one way or another, our weapons can’t even hurt him!”

Since this freak didn’t even exist in the records, killing him off was the only solution. Unless they didn’t want further trouble in the future.

The guard’s scared feature soften a bit before being replaced by a wicked smile. “Don’t worry boss, a dark guild mage specialised in sealing will soon arrive.”

“Soon...we can get rid of this freak and all will be back to normal and we can move on with our plans for lord Zeref!”

His eyes glossed over Broly before they caught the sight of the red-headed girl. He remembered her, she use to be scared and intimidated by his presence. Now she showed little to no fear whatsoever, just like the rest. It was just a matter of time before they began to resist and push back.

I’ll make sure to make an example out of her first, hehehehehe!’

Little did they realise, that this was the beginning of the end for them.

Chapter 4: Escape

-???-

The Jellal boy was interesting.

Holding a powerful potential magic at such a young age yet possessing a feeble mind, susceptible to outside magic. Of course, this weakness would be gone when he would grow up, but for now, she could use him.

Or so she first thought.

But another potential pawn appeared from nowhere, holding powers far surpassing anyone in the tower–even herself.

Many would question her sanity with the words she uttered in contemplation. "I wonder if I can control him instead."

The spirit of Zeref was a perfect cover, a form she would hide behind and cast her strings upon the mind of her target and turn them into one of her followers.

"Ultear…"

"-!" The moment she heard the grave voice of master Hades, the young girl known as Ultear immediately turned her attention away from the crystal ball and knelt down. "Hades-sama, forgive me, I did not know you were here."

Hades was a tall, elderly man with long, slicked back and silvery-white hair. Despite his advanced age, the man was still in his best form, capable of going hand to hand against quarter fighters–not to mention he is a skilled martial artist as well.

For all the power over time and space she had, it mattered not when compared to the devil in front of her. She respected and feared him at the same time, for he is her teacher, the one who was teaching her the lost magic–Arc of Time.

"How long?" He didn't bother mixing his words and directly asked her.

"Our plan is proceeding as planned, the construction is near completion. The R-system will be up and working with a year of continuous from the slave's labour." And she was interested to bring in one of those slaves as her puppet, or at least as a cover-up for her eventual joining the council.

It was always wise to have someone take the blame.

The towers of the R-System were a series of structures that Dark Mages tried to construct and use in order to revive the most powerful Dark Mage in history, Zeref. Her guild, Grimoire Heart, was the leader of the smaller dark guilds but they rarely intervened in their affairs, only offering protection and assistance.

Hades looked uninterested before turning his back and leaving the room, "Hmm, we shall continue our training later on." With that said, Hades left the little Ultear alone in her room while continued to watch the scene in the tower unfold in her crystal ball.

"I wonder what you will bring to the table, Broly."

-The mines-

Back in the mines, Erza and the others were all gathered around in a circle–discussing something of great importance.

A gift for her birthday… or at least a date she chose randomly, cause she didn't know her actual birth date. In fact, most of the people here didn't know much about their past, with some having been brought here at a very young age.

The 7th of April.

"Hawkeye?" Wally suggested.

Jellal put on a pondering expression before shaking his head. "No, it doesn't fit."

Milianna being the very energetic one chimed in as well with her own name suggestion. "Fishbuster!" The catgirl cheerfully declared, not noticing the many facepalms the others made.

"Of course not you doofus!" Sho denied it immediately, earning a pout from Millianna. "We are not naming her fish!"

This angered the cat-loving girl as she started retorting as well. "I don't know, how about you try it, jerk!"

"What did you call me!?"

Soon the scene turned chaotic as Sho and Milianna started fighting, Jellal arguing with Wally and Rob just watching the scene with a smile with Simon joining him as well.

Erza sighed at the display, she didn't want anything for her birthday, the very aspect of getting something nice in this place was hard enough as it is and even deadly. But she didn't deny it, the gesture touched her heart.

Broly who was by her side just continued munching on some food he got from… somewhere. Raising an eyebrow at the chaos going on in front of him, the Saiyan couldn't help but ask, "What is this family name they are all fighting about?"

Honestly, she shouldn't have been surprised by the question after having been told of some of his past. But still, Erza couldn't help but feel hurt when she saw Broly so clueless over such simple things–it made her realise once again just how innocent and clueless the boy was.

"You never heard of it?" She was met with a shake of his head, "Well it's a name you're given upon your birth to go along with your first name, which in your case is Broly. It shows which family you're from and it's something you pass down to your children." Erza explains methodically to Broly, not missing a single detail.

He just seemed to get more confused with her explanation. "But I had a father… and he never had a family name as well." Paragus never mentioned anything not related to Vegeta or his training generally, but he would teach his son some basic common knowledge.

Never had this concept of family name ever come up.

"Do you want one as well?"

Broly stopped eating and looked at his reflection in the bowl of water. "I… I don't know…" He shook his head, as the memories of the past came back–he didn't have a family anymore.."Then I'll share with you mine as well," Erza suggested.Stunned by her words, Broly could only look at Erza with a questioning stare. The girl began slightly blushing after being looked at for so long and looked away. "Wha-what?"

While Erza continued to increasingly falter under his gaze, the Saiyan couldn't help but feel he was being offered something too valuable. From what he understood, only members of a family could share a name, yet was in no way related to her.

"Why?" Was all that he could ask.

Regaining some of her confidence back, the redhead girl put up a strong front and merely just scoffed at his question. "It's because I want to and that's final!" She tried to scare him with her fist only to have the guy rest his hand on her head, his lips blooming into a slight rare smile.

"Thanks."

She was frozen, with her fast-beating heart, she couldn't move a single muscle. Like a spell cast upon her, she became utterly speechless. At this point, her face had gone full-on tomato red, which did not go unnoticed by her friends.

"Pft Hahahahaha! I knew she had a crush on big brother Broly!" Wally broke the atmosphere and his laugh made the others follow suit as well. Millianna was down on her stomach rolling on the ground, Wally and Sho used each other as support and Jellal smirked at the sight.

Sho decided to add more to Erza's embarrassment. "And your face is as red as a tomato!"

Simon and Rob, being the grown-up they were, just stayed silent the entire time. Kids will be kids, they make jokes, make fun of others and so on. Rob wanted them to smile, and it was during these moments that all his efforts felt worth it.

Too bad for Sho, he forgot about her short temper. "I'm going to teach you a lesson Sho!" With blazing eyes filled with fury, Erza beat the living hell out of her friend who came to instantly regret his action. Wally on the side, had his face become pale white with fear, as he knew she would come for him next–so he decided to escape.

"Where do you think you're going mister!?" What might as well be the voice of a demon, rang behind his back. Before he could even go far enough, his body levitated from the ground and forcefully brought back.

"Waaaaa!" Wally cried in fear as he tried to scream for help. "Aniki! Help!" Knowing the only one godly enough to stop the raging demon with only a few sweet words, he called upon Broly for help–only to receive a dismissive shrug from the Saiyan before he continued to eat his meal. "Traitor!"

Simon couldn't hold back anymore and laughed as he watched Erza take care of the two boys, it's their fault for teasing her.

Jellal grew silent when he heard Sho's comment about Erza's face.

"Wait, I got it! Just like your hair, we'll call you Scarlet–Erza Scarlet!" He shouted in excitement, finally finding a fitting name for her. Which was met with the sound of approval from everyone, Broly himself liked the name.

"Happy birthday, Erza Scarlet." Rob wished the young girl, making her cry from getting one of the most important gifts in her life. She smiled and turned around before saying…

"It's your birthday as well, Broly Scarlet!"

And so for the rest of the night, the entire group stayed awake celebrating Erza's birthday. It was a tiny bit of joy in such a dark and cruel environment.

{Break}

(A few days later.)

Things went back to regular everyday life in the tower for the slaves.

Erza began focusing more on her magic in secret, for as much as the guards feared their giant protector, he wouldn't be there for her all the time. And the last thing she wanted was to become a burden to someone, especially a kind-hearted person like Broly.

Her telekinesis has gone a long way since last time.

She could pick up large rocks and send them flying at fast speed, not enough to hurt the guards, but troublesome to anyone nonetheless.

Along with Jellal, they began forming a plan to escape the place with their friends, and the rest of the slaves. After that, she could finally fulfil her dream of becoming a fairy tail mage along with everyone else.

"Here, look at this place," Jellal called her and showed a large passageway underground, buried by tons of rocks and boulders. "You could use your magic to clear the place, and we can use it to escape!" He said cheerfully, feeling freedom so close would excite anyone here.

Right, she had to concentrate and focus her magic.

Feeling a slight strain in her reserves, Erza slowly began moving away the rocks and debris from the collapsed underground cave tunnel. With each piece of rock cleared, the more exhausted she became, so was Jellal who was helping her as well.

She couldn't ask Broly for help, as most of the guards' attention were focused on him, his every action was constantly monitored whenever he went working in the mines–so calling him here was a no go.

It still bothered her that despite being so powerful, the guy never once tried to escape. He had the capability, she was sure of it when she got nearly crushed under his magic… or Ki as he liked to call it. 'He enjoys his time here… just how miserable was he before?'

Erza promised to herself that she would show Broly what true joy felt like. "A-Almost there…"

The further they went along the tunnel the closer she felt to gaining her freedom. As soon as she was done, she would bring Broly and the rest to quickly escape from this place. She would also show the Saiyan the outside world and its beauty that Rob talked about every time. They would go on adventures together, slay monsters, save people in need and have fun while at it.

Jellal seeing her increasingly weaker state, proposed to continue another day and rest for now, but Erza didn't listen. She continued to move the stones away–both of them not realising of the magical alarm they had activated a while ago.

Every part of this place was meticulously built so that no slaves could ever escape or contact the outside world, outside the regular sealed iron doors, the people in charge also built fake tunnels to act as bait for the brave enough slaves to attempt an escape.

The moment someone does indeed take the bait–a magical alarm would go off to every single guard and when captured, they'll be taught a lesson that no one would ever forget.

To completely control a slave, you must first show them hope and then crush it.

And just like they predicted, someone took the bait and it was, unfortunately, Erza and Jellal–all alone outside the watchful eyes of Broly.

"-!"

"Oh, no!" Jellal freaked out when he saw his worst fears come true.

In just a few seconds, swarms of guards came running in, holding spears, staffs and swords.

"Erza! Guards!" He warned Erza, but it was too late. "Argh!" A sword pommel knocked him on the head, rendering him unconscious.

"Jellal!" Erza tried to save her enemy but ended up being taken down by a guard, shackling her hands with a special chain that blocked her magic. "Wait! Please, leave him alone! He did nothing! Pleas-Aaah!" She couldn't plead anymore as her captor pressed a dagger right onto her jugular.

The one holding her down was none other than the guard captain, his face was gleeful with a maniacal grin. "Well, well, well, hehehe, look at what we have here. Two little shits who thought they could go behind our back and escape? Hehehe!" He along with the rest of the guards began laughing loudly as Erza grew frightful of her current situation and what would these people do to her and Jellal.

"I knew you were gonna cause some trouble, that freak certainly boosted your confidence these last few days, enough for you to try and escape." He applied more forc we on the weapon, a thin line of blood trailed down her neck. "Good news though, we got someone to take care of the big guy, hehehe, we'll finally get rid of him–for good."

No…

Broly...

He's in danger!

She struggled as much as she could, but to no avail. Even when the point of the dagger began digging further into her flesh. "No! He wasn't even here! He is innocent!" She cried desperately not wanting what was at this point her family to die because of her folly.

The expression of fear on the girl, only made the guard captain laugh out more. "Hehehehe! This is what I wanted! What I missed all this time! Fear! Ever since that freak came here, everything changed, no longer were we feared by you scums whenever that guy was nearby. But with him gone, I'll reinstate the proper order back in the tower!" He said, as the dagger finally left her neck–only to have it near her eyes.

"And I'll start by teaching you a lesson you'll never forget, a punishment that'll stay with you for all of your miserable short life. I'll be taking away this eye of yours!" With a single thrust, Erza saw the dagger near her eye.

Fear and despair seized her heart as in a last attempt of desperation, Erza did the only thing she could think of; she cried out for the one who could save her and Jellal.

"BROLYYY!!!"

Just like that the entire tower was engulfed in an overweilmingly dense green coloured energy.
