074. going on as an understudy, and a lil career identity crisis

And here is our Feb podcast!! I talk about actually getting to go on for one of my understudy tracks, and ramble on about my currently career feelings/dilemmas/woes. I know it's maybe the same thing you've heard from me a bunch in the past, but it's what on my mind today!! And I spend a lot of time thinking about this kind of stuff, so it makes sense that I talk a lot about it lolol.

I ask this in the episode, and I'll ask you here too -- what do you want to see from me? What do you like getting from different Patreons you're pledged to? How are you feeling? Did you have a good Feb? Got any fun plans for spring? :D

Sending you all my love, and we'll talk soon xx

Love,
Chey

I love your podcasts! Similarly, your little slice of life vlogs are so fun! Any digital hang is the best 🥰

You're doing great! I personally love the podcasts because just hearing your musings and thoughts is so interesting, and I know that the videos take so much more time/effort than having a quick chat. I also love your streams bc they're such a great place to hang out and work if I need to. Any art or content you put out makes my day though! My wall is covered in your prints and my fridge is covered in your stickers as magnets, so thanks to you my apartment is a joyous place to be. Do whatever brings you joy and peace and we'll be there to support you ❤️

finally got around to listening to the pod! i absolutely love when you update your lil podcast, it rly feels like a friend updating me on their life. i feel that downslump so hard ugh it truly be ur own hormones making u feel like you've gone insane 🙃 the nd brain truly doesn't help at all either 🥲 as for what kinda content i love from you, is it a copout to say all? LOL tho i guess my favs always end up being hearing/watching u explain a process, if that makes sense. i loved watching you make bread, make fiber art, go thru your sketchbooks, etc. it's like i'm living vicariously they ur tingz because it's what i so want to do!

Okay, I am falling in love with this YT channel - best "productivity" channel I have come across. She's not specifically talking about ADHD but this seems really relatable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqOTG3n5sbI

i love listening to the podcast, as a fellow neurodivergent person, it makes me feel less alone, and also getting the info from the back end regarding your business is helpful for me. i love when you do post youtube videos, but i can only IMAGINE how much work it is. as another fellow fiber artist, i LOVE hearing and seeing all the things you're doing, the tutorials, etc. i also LOVE LOVE your streams. i fell in love with your visual art first, and stayed for everything else. along for the ride.

I always get excited when you post a new podcast, video, or blog post… anything where you’re just chit chatting about any topic. I get a lot of anxiety from ~existing on the internet~ but the spaces you create always feel so safe and wonderful. I really started the join the community after your OMORI streams, I especially loved getting to experience a fun and emotional new game with you and your voices for the characters really made it for me (it’s become one of my comfort re-watches alongside Dan and Phil’s undertale). Would be so much fun to join you in playing more games, either new ones or old favs!

Love listening to your podcasts always- this one was the perfect length for my journey home! :) I love seeing silly little pictures and updates on Patreon, like blogs but don’t even need to be long to make me happy. I also love digital work from downloads to recipe illustrations or just a little stand alone doodle. Draw/make with me videos are also really nice and give a similar vibe to the cozy energy of your podcasts 💕

I'm such a lurker, but I wanted to comment about some of the struggles you mentioned - I totally feel the same about being so inspired by all the artists and creatives online and feeling overwhelmed with what to do with your own presence online. <3 No answers here, but solidarity I hope. It definitely feels daunting as an artist who hasn't really dipped their toe into online stuff. As for what I enjoy from you, I always love day in the life/week vlogs, but honestly after becoming a patron after following/lurking for years I really enjoy the podcasts and blog posts. I enjoy slice of life stuff from you and from other patreons I follow. I like feeling like we're all in a little letter chain where we share things about our life and also creative endeavors.

Re: getting a coach - I highly recommend getting a career coach if you're feeling feelings about where your career is going. I got one over the pandemic when I wasn't sure if I was going to go back into my field or not and it was SO helpful to have someone coming from an outside perspective help me see what my strengths are and brainstorm paths and ideas. I've definitely seen coaches geared to those with ADHD and others for those in the creative field. At the very least its nice to have someone reaffirm those things that you know deep down but aren't sure of, ya know? It was a big help for me.

Oh man do I relate to these feelings in the pms stage! Everything can often feel so awful and urgent and fatigue to an extreme degree and really all you need is rest but that’s the time when the mind feels so urgent about work! My favorite thing about your work is when it’s cozy and comforting (you have that effect regardless!). Your vlogs are my absolute favorite especially when they feature baking!! The ones where you bake I have watched so many times haha. It’s just the coziest thing ever and I love love it! So excited for more videos, thanks for the comfort 💓

I like the pictures and I like the vlogs - even just the very simple, ASMR with some nice background music style. I just enjoy seeing what you are up to. You are great at setting up such simple and beautiful shots, its very lofi study girl vibes and I love it.

I love the drawing and gaming streamed and crafting streams streams second only cause knitting and crocheting take more counting/consentrating and I love chit chatting. But honestly I as long as it makes youre enjoying it and having fun it will be a fun stream! Also great job preforming! That’s so cool and sounds amazing As far as ADHD goes I fined having designated locations and times can really help -clutter is a killer to my ADHD brain and makes me feel un productive. Also journaling or going for a walk helps with my brain overload/brain fog moments Idk if that was helpful Have a great day!!

I’m feeling the feels lately, life can be quite overwhelming juggling so much, something that keeps coming up for me is that “keeping it simple” and there’s so much joy hidden in the little tings. So that’s a perspective that has been helping me the past handful of moons! I also struggle with having so much that I wanna do, dreams I be dream’n it’s hard to organize it all n’ take action, I end up just drawing and writing in my journal… lolol — but I believe it’s a none linear process and everything we go through is building towards something, holds depth and meaning <3 I feel like us sensi creatures are always self regulating whether we know it or not… it can be exhausting for sure phew. ;-; Ultimately, I think it’s important to settle into whatever brings you joy and in turn it will bring others joy :•) taking care of ourselves takes practice <3 we got thissss! && yer offerings are swell ✨ I always enjoy anything you have to share! It’s cool to see what yer up to and I love the podcasts n’ videos n’ streams and ya! Yer a spesh gem and you do a lot and you shine bright! V grateful for yer creative company chey :’•)

I can relate to so much of what you shared, especially just feeling like you're always trying to solve something, which is so incredibly exhausting, at least for me. and one of the reasons I don't want to move is the dread of having to move all the yarn I've accumulated over the last two years lol. I think fiber arts feels grounding for me, it's nice for me to have something tangible to see and work on and actually know progress is being made toward an end goal

PMS gang rise up 🤟😭 I'm pretty in-and-out when it comes to Patreon in general, but I find myself missing these podcasts the most. Also here to get myself a little print as a treat 🥰 hyped for anything you put out in the future tbh
