EDIT: I did my last print sketch! I added it to the end of the gallery~ Very excited to color all them oranges hehe
Hi y’all!! Happy Thursday~ i’m deep in “art deadline” mode which means a combo of staring into space while furiously tapping my fingers and me being hunched over my ipad with my nose about 2 inches from the screen lololol
I'm doing a collab with Mini Gallery Box !! they reached out to me back at the end of February, and I decided to have my box for the month of June, as it's my birthday month :o) I misremembered my deadlines, as I thought they needed by designs by mid-May, but they need them at the very beginning, so I'm working quick quick quick to get all of this done by Monday. :D Usually I'd crush myself under this kind of stress, but I've learned how to manage it way better now, so I'm using all that energy to focus and brainstorm instead.
For the box, I'm designing three prints and three stickers — I've got the sketches for two of the prints done, and one of the stickers completely rendered. I've got a sketch for a second sticker (the teacup full of strawberries), and I just came up with the idea for the third (a star blooming out of a flower!!)
We agreed on a theme, which was originally gonna be bugs and picnics and things, as we wanted it to be summery, but I changed trajectory a bit, and am focusing on stars and fruits!! (mostly strawberries as you can see hehe) Also making sure I use lots of bright colors~~
I'm still a little stuck on the third print idea...I was thinking something with piles of oranges?? A little gnome character swimming in fruit and stars? Taking a nap a top of a pile of fruit? I'm a bit stuck, so I'm trying to doodle a lot in my sketchbook and consume a lot of art through my Pinterest to try and spark something ahhhh ;; I'm really happy with my first two sketches, so I want to make sure the third isn't something I haphazardly throw together, I also want to be really proud of it !!
I'm gonna be filming the process for one of the pieces for a "draw with me" video for YouTube, and I just can't...decide which one..I think I might do the picnic tea one, as it's a bit different from what folks usually see me work on in my videos :3
I'm using this collab as an opportunity to try and be a bit more courageous with my background/composition choices, and I'm also trying really hard to not let my imposter syndrome get the better of me...Mini Gallery Box has worked with Sibylline, Leigh Ellexson, Ghostpuff, Meyoco, and for May they're working with Mochipanko :0 These are all artists I greatly admire and am also intimidated by and I'm tempted to be like "what am i doing, i can't have my work alongside these people!!!!" BUT I'm remembering that Gallery Box reached out to me for a reason, and I'm just trying to have fun with these paintings instead of getting all bogged down in my insecurities as that never did anyone any good. :o)
I'm excited to show y'all the final pieces <333 Hope you're well!
