blog: it's move-in week !

Hello sweet friends! Happy mid-November 🌾I hope the month has been treating you well! I'm currently sat on the couch, watching Korean vlogs (specifically, Haegreendal, one of my faves) while my hair is drying in a towel on top of my head. I'm probably gonna whip up a cup of tea soon β€” I just restocked on my fave honey vanilla chamomile tea that I'm rather excited about :3

I can't believe it's move-in week!! I brought over the first batch of boxes to the studio today, and also placed an order for lots of Ikea goodies. I got a couple shelves, some drawers, a table (that will be replaced with some standing desks once Ikea restocks them), and some cables and boxes. The two chairs I wanted at Ikea were also out of stock (booo) so I went to a neighborhood consignment store and got me a simple little wooden chair that is in the exact same design of the ones Connor and I have in our dining room. :o) Again, I'm hoping to get all those goodies again once they restock at the Washington state location!

Sophie also has been extra cuddly lately which truly feels like such a blessing. She had what I thought was an ingrown claw, but it turned out to just be a really long claw that wasn't shedding like her other ones! The vet trimmed down all her claws and now she seems to be very happy and more keen to cuddle since her claws aren't catching on everything, hahah.

I've been wanting to have time to work on digital stuff for the shop (which I think I'll finally have time to do tomorrow while I wait around for the Ikea delivery), but I also don't want to keep folks waiting on the physical original goodies. I'm thinking about doing a staggered drop β€” I'll post the originals this weekend so I can ship them next week, and then work on the digital stuff next week and post that up like the final weekend of November. Since they're digital, folks don't have to worry about them selling out, nor shipping times, so I feel like that could work. That's probably what I'll end up doing!! I'll keep you posted! (Sophie just curled up next to me on the couch and I'm all weepy about it)

I also edited a vlog that is currently waiting on approval from Squarespace, so y'all will be seeing that tomorrow most likely before it goes public on Friday. It was definitely the kind of vlog where I was like "HOW am I meant to edit all this footage into something even remotely cohesive" but I think it turned out alright! There's a couple awkward beats in it, watching it back now, but c'est la vie β€” done is better than perfect ;-)

The sketchbook tour will be coming next week, along with tea time, and the podcast episode is going up this Friday and next!! I'm grateful for y'all's patience, as always 😭

I also want to thank y'all from the bottom of my heart, like the very very very bottom. I would never be able to even dream of renting a dedicated studio space if it wasn't for you guys. Your financial support on here means I can pay rent on the studio and my apartment, as well as furnish it, hook up the internet, everything. I'm so thankful that you're here, and it blows my mind that my career has wound up where it is now.

I've been "making it up as I go" for a while now, and while I think an element of chaos is good in a creative career, I've gotta start pinning down my processes and my boring behind-the-scenes things (like money, project management, business licensing, etc.)

I'm really gonna miss working from home (having Connor at arm's length, Sophie booping around, all my tea and snacks within reach) but I ultimately think that this separation will be really good for my business, especially as it continues to grow in the new year. It's gonna be so weird!! Going to the office every morning!! Still can't wrap my mind around it. Part of me worries that this studio space was a waste of money, and signing a year long lease was foolish, but then I look at all the stuff in our dining room and remember the chaos of packing days and think that it'll be so nice to be able to lock the door on work to come home and spend quality time with my family. <3

My tea is just about done steeping, so I'm going to enjoy that and maybe play a little Super Mario Galaxy!! I hope y'all have a wonderful whatever-it-is-wherever-you-are. <3

All my love,
Cheyenne

So excited for the vlog and your new space! I'll be getting a two bedroom apartment with my husband in February so my office will have its own room, instead of being the living room/bedroom in my studio lol. Can't wait to see how you set it up!!

I'm so excited for you! Having your own studio is so great! And don't worry, it's clearly not a waste of money. On the contrary I think it's a normal step as your business grows. It's going to become your very own cozy space and you'll be able to enjoy your time at home with Sophie and Connor even more! I'm sending you all my good vibes and love from Paris <3

This is going to be so good for your brain! I’m excited for the renewed energy that I’m sure this space will provide for you. It also means that your home can become the sacred space that it’s meant to be. So very excited for you!

so excited for you! i know how scary it is to rent a space as i've just moved into mine last month and the doubts keep creeping in once in a while. but i'm good at reminding myself that i have an exit plan: the worst that can happen is that i was able to enjoy a bigger space and played around, so to speak, for a year. the money? i've already "spent" it in my head. my gift to myself! like you, i have Awesome Patrons that are willing to support my creative journey and are very happy to see the progression. it's all part of the bigger picture. i am confident that your space will provide renewed inspiration for you. also, the separation between business and home will feel like you've achieved some sense of balance and your quality of life will improve. i can't wait to see what you create in your new space. Sending good vibes and all the happies to you, Cheyenne!

I'm so happy for you! I love being able to support you and your business, you're a big inspiration to me. I work a 9-5 in tech but have always loved art, and I've struggled to make time and energy for it. I'm over 30 now and I always think it's too late for me to try, but your positive attitude and honesty really make me feel like I can do it too. Even if it doesn't end up a successful career, art is fulfilling and I hope that someday I can share my work and others can feel happy too.

I know most cats don't travel well. But if Sophie does, have you ever thought about taking her to work once in a while? Can't wait to see how you decorate your office. So excited to see an office tour.

This was a lovely read Chey! It sounds like things are moving to an awesome place for you and I couldn't be happier. I agree that being able to shut the door on work and head home is going to be SO good for you, especially your mental health. Sending you, Connor, and Soph lots of love from London <:3c

So many cool things are happening!!! I’m so excited for you cheyenne πŸ’˜πŸ’˜πŸ’˜ can’t wait to see the new content (vlogs, podcasts, streams, etc.) ive been missing just sitting and reading up on how lives have been for people lately (cuz ya know, being a depression kind of makes you isolate a bit) so I’m re-entering society now and such and this is amazing journey to be on ahhhh

I'm so excited for you Cheyenne! It has been a pretty awesome experience watching one of my favorite artists get to grow and expand their business like this, and I'm honestly so happy I could play a part in it πŸ₯°

Yay, Cheyenne! I'm so excited to see what you do with this studio space. I'm sure it will feel great to have that designated place that you can escape to and shut away when you need to ❀️ Now... Can you tell me more about this honey vanilla chamomile tea? Is it a particular brand? It sounds delightful!
