Hello! It's been a very busy month for me so I haven't been able to commit to any large changes this time. Instead, I mainly focused on fixing bugs and adding a handful of smaller things people have been requesting.
First off, let me mention some bugs and stability fixes:
-I finally got the softbodies to behave consistently at any framerate or simulation speed without any choppiness at higher fps. In the process, I also fixed some issues with inconsistent limb placement that could occur when switching to the rolling body.
-NPC's should behave better now. They should no longer glide without walking and they should be better at avoiding the player too. I also optimized some of their code to hopefully prevent the memory leaks some people were seeing. (feel free to lmk if this is still happening, it's been inconsistent and difficult to pinpoint the exact cause)
-Rolling in first person should feel more intuitive now. This ended up being a harder problem than I thought so there might be some edge cases, but it mostly works as you'd expect.
-I fixed a handful of UI bugs that were causing some elements to draw in the wrong place. NPC text boxes should also be the correct size on 4k displays.
I also added some quality of life updates and a few other small features:
-Save slots only display the load button when there is data in the save slot so you can tell if you are saving a new outfit or overwriting an existing one.
-The game will now automatically load the last outfit you were wearing when you quit the game.
-You can now select the Flonka elf outfit and eyes in the character customizer.
-I added tool tips to the interact menu so you can know what each option does and this menu will no longer accidentally pop up while you are trying to rotate objects with the prop grabber tool.
-There's now an audio options menu so you can adjust the volume of various sound effects.
-I added two new foods to the feeding tube - gainer shake and ice cream.
-The blueberry body will now squirt juice when it's squished enough. You can turn this off in the status effects menu if this isn't your thing.
-There's a new quest NPC in the Flonka factory by the gummy worms. Complete it to transform into new gummy worm body type. (the NPC that used to be here is now in the snowy part of the map)
-The body shapes menu has a new section for candy shapes. They will unlock after the first time you've transformed into a blueberry, gummy bear, etc so you can switch to them whenever you want once unlocked.
I think that's everything for now. For the next update I plan to add a few more things to finish up the candy factory. Now that blueberry juice is a thing, I want to add a juicing room sequence and some explosive consequences if you let the juice build up too much. A chocolate river tube-stuck sequence is in the works as well and perhaps some way to drink from the river or waterfall. I also have one more candy transformation in mind that I plan to add another quest for.
I will get back to adding NPC's to other maps and more ways to interact with them eventually, but they are one of the more difficult/bug inducing things to develop so I need a bit of a break from that. In the meantime I hope you enjoy!
