Dev Build - Company's Coming

Heyo! I've made some decent progress with adding NPC's to the game. There's plenty more I want to do with them, but this should be a good start.

So far there's 5 NPC's in the buffet level and 4 in the candy factory level. They all have a handful of phrases that change as you grow. If you are close enough to speak, you can click on the Talk bubble above their head to make them say something. Once you grow to a certain weight, they will start saying new things in response to your size. They will also try to run away if you attempt to roll them over with the rollable body type.

There's also a particular elf in the candy factory who will unlock a silly new body type if you do something for her. (Consider it a belated April Fool's joke. :P )

You might also notice the elves look a bit familiar. I based their design on Villaru's elves who inhabit her Flonka Factory scenarios. They also make some references to Miss Flonka who may appear in a future update at some point. Big thanks to Villaru for letting me include them!

There's also an NPC options menu on the left side of the screen. You can use it to hide NPC chat bubbles if you ever want to. I will add more NPC options here in the future as I continue to flesh this system out.

Lastly, I tweaked the rolling body tech a bit to make its firmness more consistent between PC's running at lower frame rates. Hopefully pancaking will no longer happen if you are running the game on a lower end computer.

Like I said, there's still more I want to do with NPC's in the future. I want to add them to most of the other levels and hopefully add some ways for them to be more interactive with the player. Perhaps stuff like feeding the player, slapping their fat, or reacting when you transform into a blob, etc. I'd also like to add some more quest-like interactions similar the elf by the gummy bears in the candy factory.

I've found a few bugs with them too. Sometimes they slide around without walking or they might get stuck in one of their animations, but they should work for the most part. I'll be looking into fixes for these, but in the meantime I wouldn't be surprised if a few more issues crop up as people mess around with them. So feel free to let me know if you encounter anything weird.

Do you think you could add a feature where NPCs get flattened if you roll over them?

Maybe. You'd need a way to choose what body type you grow into. Maybe different tube foods could determine that. It would also have to stop to allow the transformation to the hyper obese and blob stages because the entire character gets replaced with a different prefab for those stages

Here's an idea! We've got the feeding tubes, and such obviously, but would there be a way to sorta Rapidly ascend through the weights, kinda like how max speed Berry transformation works?

fw this, it'd be amazing if in a later update the chairs would slowly creak and make noises, only to break at larger sizes, leading to the player character slamming on to the floor

Hey, this update's really really good! I was wondering if there are plans to add NPC interactions who can be fed/will feed you?

I definitely plan to add more body types and immobile struggling. Adding more rolls might be tough because the character models are already near the max vertex count that unity can handle in a single model and I can't really sculpt much more detail without adding more verts. Any thoughts for other feeding tube types? I'm open to suggestions.

Still hoping for more folds, rolls, and more body types/ways to modify the existing body types. I'm always real fascinated how fat collects on the human body, so more focus on that area is hopeful, as well as ironing out some of the stranger issues. (Like the breasts showing vertices at the higher weights on the "long" body type.) Also, hoping for more feeding tube types, interactions, maybe a few as part of maps. Still hoping for immobile struggling as well.

I've thought about doing that at some point. I want to overhaul the customization system in general and I might be able to include options like that too.

Hey was wondering about more customisation for the hair? So like a fringe with long hair at the back or just different combinations front and back. Tested the game and really good so far!

Audio settings would be good to have. I plan on adding that soon. And yeah the NPC's are still a bit rough around the edges. I'll be improving them as time goes on. Importing custom assets would be tricky since they need a lot of setup to work correctly. Each outfit needs a series of textures to work on all the body types and they are made in a very specific, proprietary way to work with the character shader. But I plan to add many more options for character customization as I continue development.

Really liking the NPC interactions, but now that they're here it would be nice to have some audio settings since they can be pretty loud when they're talking. The NPCs also seem to have a tendency to try to walk through you like you're not there and drag you across the map with them. How difficult do you think it would be to add support for importing custom character customization options, like clothes and hairstyles? It's always nice to have more options

Fantastic update! Question though; would it be possible in the future to make the tube feeding sequence just as 'seamless' as the blueberry sequence? Amazing work on the NPC's, I can't wait to see what you do with them in the future and on the different levels

I don't remember the character making a pop noise, unless maybe you're talking about the pop up notification sound when a new weight level is unlocked? I have some plans for the chocolate river for a future update and maybe drinking from the waterfall could be part of that.

Cool up date, can't wait for some more awesome new NPC! I do miss the old pop like noise that the character made when they gain a bit of weight. It's a iconic sound like the sound that ring make in sonic game in my book. All so I like to add (not sure if this would be possible for you to do) if you could make it so the character would be able to drink from the chocolate water fall by standing under it to gain would be pretty cool.
