Request Streams changing completely!
Added 2016-07-22 19:47:15 +0000 UTCWell I figured this had to happen sooner or later, but the request streams are going to change from now on. After contacting patreon, and explaining things to them about how to possibly run a request stream similar to the ones that I do, it is still considered a raffle or gambling when using patreon tiers as a method of determining prizes. it was always against the rules, I guess my thought process for the picks wasn't adhering too them after all. Sorry, but this is beyond my call. it was just luck that I wasn't contacted before about it.
What this basically means is, any time I pick a name for a request in streams, it has to be everybody present including non-patrons. I can't do "25$ only", "10 and up" picks, etc. it has to be from all people, each time with the same chances. I'm sorry if this upsets anybody, or if anybody upgraded to a higher tier to participate in the Streams more, but I don't want to risk getting in trouble with patreon. If you want a refund for the difference in tiers you might have upgraded from, I'll be happy to help. I want to stay here and keep this thing going, and with your help keep making good artwork.
I think there are two possible ways I can run the streams from now on. Either I can draw names from the pool of present viewers at the time of each stream, or I can open up a Google Document in which people can submit ideas, and then at each stream I will pick randomly from the list of ideas.
Let me know what you guys think is best here. I don't want to cut the request stream entirely. I think it'd be easiest to just draw names from the full pool of viewers, but making a Google doc and posting it in patreon might save time during the actual stream as well.
Edit: (I'm also adding a small Ask ARA bonus to the 25$ to try and compensate. Each month 25$ patrons can ask and it will be a guaranteed answer(unless ridiculous or inappropriate), one question per person per month. It's not much, but hey. Trying!)

I'd say that letting us submit to a google doc works. Perhaps that way you could still keep the tiers, letting those at higher levels submit more? I'd run that one by Patreon though.

2016-07-24 03:17:43 +0000 UTCI liked the old system but for selfish reasons. I am curious as to what will be set in its stead. I think the google doc and the viewers suggestion is a good idea.

2016-07-23 17:18:44 +0000 UTCI like the idea of each patron suggesting an idea once a month. It takes a lot of the possible frustration out when everyone is on the same level and can get their ideas in without needing to worry about scheduling.

2016-07-23 16:58:13 +0000 UTCWell not doomed; still there, just no tier-based picking names. I like doing the streams, not tempted to stop it entirely.

2016-07-23 06:54:52 +0000 UTCRules are rules. I'll admit I started repledging for the request stream perk, but I don't mind sticking around. You've been producing some excellent content and I'm really happy with that.

2016-07-23 05:14:15 +0000 UTCI think this is better as it is, because there are those that might feel a bit cheated if they can only afford the lower tiers for the streams and those that have a lot of money often get more chances than those who cannot afford to pledge nearly as much from being on more limited funds. I would say do both. If you do 2 streams a month have one with everyone present and have the other be pulled from a list of suggestions through GDocs. And use the GDocs one until the list is exhausted, and if there is a repeat idea from one of the streams in the GDocs, it can be removed. Shortening its 'lifespan.' I think this would be a more balanced approach as the suggestion list would allow those without time to make the streams to have the potential to make a request and it would allow those that are able to make the streams have a chance to participate in real time. And this can be tweaked here and there. Those are my thoughts on it.

2016-07-23 00:54:13 +0000 UTCAny method good, if I can play the ball at least once.G-doc is better.

2016-07-22 23:30:24 +0000 UTCOn the one hand, the anticipation of watching the raffle wheel go around and seeing who wins is part of the excitement of the request streams. On the other hand, the one that holds efficiency and our collective sanity is the GDoc idea, though you'd want a way to limit how many times people could suggest things. Habilion's idea of once a month could be reasonable, or you could empty the Doc or Form between streams so people could think of new suggestions each time, or re-suggest a non-pick from the previous times. I presume 'pick randomly from the list of ideas' means pasting the list into Wheel Decide or something like that, so we still get the Wheel of Fortune effect excitement over seeing just what comes up? That'd be pretty cool, and it's about what EvilArt does for his streams, save the shouting out stuff in chat.

2016-07-22 22:55:10 +0000 UTCYeah I'm keeping OCs of the table. It's just more fun for me, and arguably the audience, to do so. I'm not very fast when it comes to OCs, so. The tiers didn't need much changing, the bonuses about streams were already off of the descriptions. But the document is a good idea.

2016-07-22 22:19:23 +0000 UTCThat's too bad. I think a hybrid system would be fun. You can browse the GDoc suggestions and see what interests you for a sketch or two, and have a member of the audience come up with something fun for another sketch or two. Habilion's suggestion on how the GDoc could be run is good I think.
2016-07-22 22:06:11 +0000 UTCWell, writing down ideas in GDoc might be nice, would help given my inability to think of things during streams, but watching the roulette wheel in-stream is fun too...

2016-07-22 20:25:43 +0000 UTCthat sucks, but it can't be helped.

2016-07-22 20:22:12 +0000 UTCMaybe a mix of both ideas would work. A couple suggestions from higher tiers and a couple on stream picks.

2016-07-22 20:21:30 +0000 UTCI think having a Google document open once a month were each patreon can submit a single idea for what to draw into it and you select a handful each stream and make a fresh folder the next month. Though I understand it is out of your hands on this I think the patreon tiers here need remaking to reflect this change. Maybe have it so higher tiers can be more specific in their requests or something special. Also would OCs still not be able to be picked as requests for the livestreams?

2016-07-22 20:05:20 +0000 UTCIt's a shame but I think this opens up an even greater potential for good and variable suggestions for sketches and it will allow guys more time to think about what they would want drawn. It will also allow you to vet ideas so we don't see the same characters being picked repeatedly.

2016-07-22 19:59:59 +0000 UTCthat is a shame to hear, the raffles were fun to be part of. Though i think a Google document with ideas to draw would be the best, i rarely make it to the streams and to have a chance to win still would be nice (even though the chance to win would be less x3)

2016-07-22 19:58:37 +0000 UTCPersonally, I think the latter idea sounds more fun.
