Final Testing: Eco Living NAP Blocker (Updated Notes)

November 5th: Just an update on the below note and the conflict with the Basemental mod, but it was recommended that I re-do how I block the NAP system. Unfortunately, I am still currently swamped with everything I missed when I was sick (and trying to get the broom out now) and have to track the individual systems down for blocking, so it's going to be a bit. Basemental has added a new file to his mod (Patreon version for now) that will auto-block that portion of my mod if you happen to have both installed, in case anyone forgets to disable it in the settings.


October 26th: Forgot to post about this while I was sick, but someone has brought to my attention that if you use Basemental and my mod with the NAP setting enabled it affects the Basemental settings system and will cause LEs. Until this is updated to fix that, please take out my mod, or disable the NAP blocker, if you use both together.


September 24th: The mod has been updated to hopefully fix the drama node LE. Please give it another run to be sure, but it works on my end so far!


September 14th: This mod is now released to the public in it's final testing stage. Other than myself and the commissioner experiencing a single (one-time, doesn't repeat for us so far) LE mentioning Drama Nodes, no one else has reported any other issues and the mod works as intended. I am investigating the drama node LE and will hopefully have another update published soon that will fix it from occurring in the first place. :) Once the LE is confirmed to be gone I'll be removing any references to testing from this post and it will officially be labeled as a new mod.


This was a commissioned mod from someone who didn't want the NAP and some other Eco Living features anymore. It fully blocks the NAP system unlike the settings option EA added, as well as some other features you can read about below, with all of them able to be turned on or off in the settings file provided.

If you decide to test the mod, please play in a new save first just to be safe and try without any other mods besides MCCC and/or BE for a few sim days. If no LEs or other issues occur, then add back all of your mods. This is because we need to make sure that any LE that occurs is not because of a random mod, and to also see if there are any conflicts. Which there shouldn't be, but again being cautious, though please remember to remove any other NAP, recycle disciple, and EL call/texts related mods as they won't be needed anymore (including anything controlling environment effects).

When testing please keep an eye out for any issues related to NAPs, the Bess Sterling and Inheritance calls/texts, and the Recycle Disciple uncontrollable swiping when they haven't recycled in a while. You can see more details about what I mean below. Also, please test with all setting options enabled at first, then adjust how you see fit and test further.

πŸ“Œ Features

1. This is a script mod that entirely blocks the NAP system. This means the voting notifications/popups, the glowing on the voting board (but the boards remain, interactions don't work though), the voting system, NAPs themselves (and any effects they had), Knox and Bess coming to your door in Evergreen Harbor, the influence/NAP section in the sim panel, and probably more that I can't think of at the moment. The only thing related to NAPs that weren't removed were the community venues, which you will still be able to use and not have to worry about an NAP switching the venue out.

2. Another feature is that this mod blocks the Bess Sterling and Inheritance calls you receive from the EL pack. Please let me know if you experience any weirdness related to those two calls.

3. The last feature this mod affects is the Recycle Disciple trait's autonomous swiping feature for when they haven't recycled in a while. I switched the list of available objects with actual trash! So now they won't grab your fridges, trash cans, TVs, chairs, etc.


πŸ“Œ Settings

This mod comes with a settings file (MizoreYukii_EcoLivingNAPBlocker_Settings.cfg) that you can edit to turn blocking features On or Off. Note that the mod comes with everything enabled by default as per the request of the commissioner, so if you don't want either the calls, NAPs, or recycle behavior blocked, please edit the file.

To turn a feature off, simply open the file and change the True that is listed to False, save. Adjusting settings in-game will be a future update as it's more complicated than this, so for now you will need to restart the game for effects to take place (at least from what I know you will need to, feel free to test to be sure).
