Chapter 526: Daddy, a Monster Wants to Attack Emilia!
Added 2025-06-25 15:06:01 +0000 UTCEmilia’s petite figure stood at the prow of the ship, her presence causing both sides of the Saint rank battle raging in the skies above to hesitate. Just who, or what, was this little girl?
The Saints on Charlot Mecklenburg’s side knew that she was the child of Eumibella and Charlot, but the sheer absurdity of her existence—something bordering on eldritch—made it hard to accept fully.
Meanwhile, the Saints of the New Continent Council, still reeling from the “death” of Monteblanc and their earlier confrontation with this terrifying little girl, now shared a single dreadful thought: “Could this little girl also be an Evil God?”
“But since when do proper Evil Gods retain human form?”
...
Avish summoned the Evil God Aruhet Samsusu, bringing an entirely new dynamic to the battle. Both sides’ Saints retreated—Charlot’s allies returning to their ship while the New Continent Council’s Saints gathered around Avish and Mocher, knowing their own vessel was far from safe.
Charlot, however, remained hovering alone in the high skies.
Despite being mildly afraid of heights, he had unexpectedly grown fond of the unrestrained sensation of flying.
It was akin to the thrill of learning to ride a bicycle and wanting to touch the handlebars every day or the excitement of driving for the first time, so much so that you’d want to sleep in the car. Charlot, having recently ascended to Saint rank, found his fascination less in the raw power gained and more in the joy of soaring through the skies freely.
In contrast, the colossal form of the Evil God Aruhet Samsusu loomed like a nightmare, its size surpassing that of a medium-sized city. Charlot couldn’t believe that something so enormous could actually take flight.
If it could, all it would need to do was crash to the ground, and no city would withstand the impact of such a catastrophic blow.
With the Saints withdrawn, the naval fleets on both sides tacitly pulled back, leaving the battlefield to the legendary warships and the sea monster Aruhet Samsusu.
...
The monstrous creature extended a second tendril composed entirely of seawater. This one was even thicker and longer than the first. As it crashed down, a faint inky blackness swirled within the tendril, winding through it like a dark current.
Charlot accelerated abruptly in midair, a Flaming Lance appearing in his hand. With all his might, he drove the weapon into the massive seawater tendril, circling around it with reckless speed.
Earlier, Charlot had already tested and confirmed that Blood Rose, his vampiric rapier, could pierce the seawater form of this monster. Powered by the strength of the Flame Evil God Anururu, the Flaming Lance plunged effortlessly into the tendril.
Executing the techniques of Heaven’s Wing with remarkable finesse, Charlot unleashed hundreds of strikes with each rotation. After seven or eight dozen loops, the giant seawater tendril was riddled with holes, its integrity broken as its connection to the Evil God’s power snapped. The tendril shattered and fell.
But instead of dissolving back into water, the massive severed tendril became corporeal, transforming into a fleshy appendage.
Seeing this, Emilia’s eyes lit up with excitement. She commanded her legendary warship, Emilia Mecklenburg, to charge directly at the severed tendril. The ship’s bow suddenly opened into a giant maw and bit down viciously.
Meanwhile, Whale King Ivona, submerged alongside the Radiant Holy Kingdom, felt the fierce battle above the sea. Just as it prepared to join the fray, the Radiant Holy Kingdom transformed with a deafening boom, becoming a massive whale. With astonishing speed, it surged to the surface and clamped down on the other end of the fleshy tendril.
Two bizarre legendary warships—one grotesquely sinister and the other equally eerie—were locked in a competition, as if each were trying to devour a morsel faster than the other.
...
Avish witnessed the scene but dared not let his concentration waver as he piloted Aruhet Samsusu. Not even the smallest emotional fluctuation could be allowed.
He recalled Gareth Mecklenburg’s attempt to control the Flame Evil God Anururu, which ended in his soul being fragmented and corrupted by the god’s influence. Gareth became a pawn of Charlot’s, little more than a shattered remnant.
On the New Continent, the Saints had far more encounters with Evil Gods than their counterparts on the Old Continent. Here, utilizing the power of Evil Gods was no secret science but a well-established art. Countless techniques had been developed, and most Saints could tap into an Evil God’s power to some extent.
However, borrowing such strength was far from safe. It could not be used freely or without consequences. Unless the stakes were high, New Continent Saints generally preferred non-combative solutions, often retreating rather than risking these dangerous methods.
...
Mocher spoke softly, “Can you still hold on?”
Avish replied in a low voice, “I can manage fifteen more minutes at most. After that, you’ll have to take over.”
Mocher suggested, “If we can’t eliminate Charlot Mecklenburg in ten minutes, we should retreat. We returned to the Old Continent seeking space to survive, not to deplete our strength. The losses so far have already been too great.”
“If we exhaust ourselves completely, they won’t spare us.”
Though Avish snorted angrily, he knew Mocher’s caution was well-founded. If his spirit energy was drained, Mocher would not stay to fight but would leave immediately. Thus, Avish could only agree. If Aruhet Samsusu failed to secure victory, he would have no choice but to preserve his strength and lead the New Continent Council’s forces in retreat.
...
Avish let out a sharp whistle, prompting Aruhet Samsusu to unleash dozens of massive tendrils, which lashed out wildly in all directions.
Amid this chaotic assault, Whale King Ivona bit off a tendril and dove deep into the sea.
Emilia glanced at the dozens of thousand-meter-long tendrils smashing toward her. Her small face remained impassive, but then her tiny nose twitched, and she suddenly burst into tears.
“Daddy!” she wailed. “Daddy, a monster is trying to hit Emilia!”
Leaping into the air, she flew toward Charlot, and the colossal Emilia Mecklenburg vanished from the sea’s surface, turning intangible.
...
The dozens of massive seawater tendrils slammed into the ocean, creating towering waves. The waters outside Black Phoenix City churned violently, as though a once-in-a-century tsunami had struck. The sea turned murky, and countless marine creatures perished in the chaos.
Charlot caught Emilia in his arms. It felt like holding...
Hmm, “a hot potato” wasn’t enough to describe her. That phrase simply didn’t do justice.
Charlot genuinely felt as though he was holding a volcano on the verge of eruption. This volcano, sniffling pitifully, kept crying, “Daddy, that monster bullied me! You have to help Emilia fight it.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Charlot attempted to console her using Earth customs: “Emilia, don’t be scared! Monsters are bad, so we’ll fight them.”
But inwardly, he was troubled: “How do we even fight something this big?”
