Chapter 420: Summoning the Evil God Comes at a Cost
Added 2025-05-03 15:10:01 +0000 UTCSummoning an evil god comes at a cost!
Take Charlot Mecklenburg, for example—he was the price.
Charlot Huang Haisheng deeply understood this truth.
Even though Gareth was a formidable Saint rank, he couldn’t escape paying the price! At this moment, he could only muster all his strength to resist the corruption of the Flame Evil God Anururu. If his soul succumbed to the evil god's power, while Gareth might remain physically intact, his soul would undoubtedly disintegrate.
The Black Dragon thrust both hands forward, transforming the magical rapier Charlot had gifted him long ago into a streak of crimson light, piercing Gareth’s chest fiercely.
Under normal circumstances, Gareth and the aged lizardman might have been evenly matched. Even if one emerged victorious, the battle would last for days.
Among Saint rank clashes, where both combatants possess the ability to fly, battles tend to drag on unless one side has an overwhelming advantage.
However, Gareth was entirely focused on resisting the will of the evil god, trusting in the protection granted by its incarnation. This confidence left him vulnerable. By the time he realized the danger, it was already too late.
The magical rapier pierced Gareth’s chest, disrupting his connection with the evil god. Shocked, Gareth opened his mouth wide, spewing a fiery stream to drive away the Black Dragon. At the same time, he frantically attempted to sever his link with the Flame Evil God. His mind was in chaos, and he knew he wouldn’t last much longer if he continued in this state.
The Black Dragon gracefully evaded the fiery stream. With a casual motion, he sent the Blood Rhinoceros flying into Gareth’s mouth. Gareth, caught off guard, inadvertently swallowed it during his exhalation.
Once inside Gareth’s stomach, the Blood Rhinoceros sprouted countless tendrils that burrowed into the Saint rank warrior’s innards. Though Gareth didn’t know exactly what was happening inside him, he sensed that part of his combat energy was vanishing in his abdomen. Consuming unknown objects during a battle was never a good idea, and this realization filled Gareth with dread, snapping his already fraying nerves.
The will of the Flame Evil God Anururu, which had been tormenting Gareth’s soul, suddenly found an opening and poured in relentlessly. Gareth let out a harrowing scream, overwhelmed with terror. Being consumed by the evil god, losing his soul, having his body taken over, and having his memories stolen—this was the ultimate fear of anyone who dared contact an evil god.
No one wanted to become food for an evil god.
The Black Dragon, having succeeded in his maneuver, immediately withdrew from the Flame Evil God Anururu's incarnation.
Fortunately, the evil god was too focused on corrupting Gareth. Supported by Antonio and Cresto, who maintained a stable channel, the Black Dragon managed to escape. Though his body was scorched and his clothes burned away, and despite being tainted by the evil god’s aura, the Black Dragon forced his combat energy to expel the intruding force. A smile still graced his face.
He turned to Antonio and Cresto. “Gareth is done for.”
“Now, we just need to wait for the Lady of the Black Moon to arrive.”
Antonio and Cresto were astonished and asked in unison, “What did you do to Gareth?”
The Black Dragon smiled. “I introduced the Blood Rhinoceros into his body.”
Cresto, being a more recent follower of Charlot, was unfamiliar with the Blood Rhinoceros, but Antonio recognized it immediately. Charlot never flaunted his accomplishments, but he had used the Blood Rhinoceros in battle before, and its origin wasn’t a secret.
Antonio remarked, “Next time, don’t take such risks.”
All rituals and secret arts for summoning evil gods include temporary measures to obscure their presence from the Nine Ancestral Evils. However, when a summoner loses control, these measures collapse, exposing the evil god’s power.
If it were a minor summoning, the Orthodox God’s Church might send nearby priests to resolve the situation. But the grand spectacle created by Mossred and Gareth had brought forth a massive influx of power from the Flame Evil God Anururu, forming an incarnation as towering as a mountain. The intervention of the Nine Ancestral Evils was only a matter of time.
In this Age of the Black Moon, it was certain that the Lady of the Black Moon would respond.
She would not be late.
The colossal form of the Flame Evil God suddenly paused, then let out a triumphant roar. Gareth was no longer an obstacle. The evil god, uninterested in fighting for mere mortals, raised its massive foot and stomped the ground, sending shockwaves that cracked the earth. The Radiant Holy Kingdom tilted slightly, its sacred light trembling.
The Flame Evil God, having defeated the Radiant Holy Kingdom, turned and sprinted into the distance!
Charlot leapt from the Radiant Holy Kingdom, raising a hand. The legendary warship transformed into a beam of pure light and merged into his Golden Ring.
He shouted to the skies, “Take me after it!”
Within the Radiant Holy Kingdom, Viggo shouted back, “I can fly you myself!”
However, his voice couldn’t travel outside the legendary warship. The knights of the Bretagne family and the West Wind Knight Order aboard the ship noticed no change. The vessel was still enveloped in sacred light, and their inability to exit freely remained unchanged. The only difference was a shifting perspective as the world outside moved dramatically.
This sensation was extraordinary. Later, every soldier aboard would describe the same scene in their own words, immortalized in “The Charlot Chronicles II” by Annie Mecklenburg.
As for the author of that work, their name would not appear in the annals of literary history.
The Golden Ram Herolf descended gracefully, carrying Charlot on its back.
Seven Saint rank warriors pursued the Flame Evil God’s incarnation, using every opportunity to force it to change direction. They couldn’t allow it to approach populated areas—towns, villages, or cities—where it would cause unimaginable devastation.
The Flame Evil God, despite its immense power, avoided combat with these enemies. To the evil god, such battles were meaningless, only depleting its strength without benefit.
Charlot couldn’t yet discern the Black Dragon’s plan, though he could faintly sense the presence of the Blood Rhinoceros, even if he couldn’t summon it back.
The Flame Evil God blazed across hundreds of kilometers, leaving a trail of fire in its wake. Every step seared the land, creating a path of flames. Despite its efforts to shake off its pursuers, Charlot suddenly shouted, “Force it into the Black Phoenix Dynasty’s territory!”
