Chapter 415: The Allied Forces of the Kingdom of Oslo
Added 2025-05-01 15:05:01 +0000 UTCVampiric Blood Thralls are the result of more than a decade of careful cultivation.
Not only do they serve as combat assistants, but they also take on the roles of housekeepers and loyal servants. While vampires have always treated them as disposable tools, they are far from expendable.
At one point, even Lord Leo risked returning to the dangerous Machubi Fortress Labyrinth to rescue a Blood Thrall, nearly getting trapped there himself.
Charlot Mecklenburg, being a transmigrator, possessed a naturally unusual mindset. His moral compass prevented him from disregarding any form of life, but his inherent detachment made it difficult for him to empathize with strangers or enemies. When it came to Blood Thralls, he probably valued them even less than most vampires did.
During his time learning from Juno Arthur, Charlot had “accidentally” overlooked this aspect. Upon confirming that it was impossible to quickly convert a batch of labyrinth guards into Blood Thralls—a process that clearly required years—he decided to abandon the project for the time being. After instructing the Sea Serpent King to rest, Charlot returned to Dark Luxury, and this time, he swiftly fell asleep.
...
The next morning, Charlot gathered his team and resumed their journey. The duchy of Rembrandt Mossred bordered the South Seraph War Zone, both located on the edge of the Black Phoenix Dynasty.
In his youth, Duke Mossred had fought numerous battles against the forces of the Black Phoenix Dynasty, earning countless accolades for the Fars Empire. Several nearby noble territories, also on the border and frequently plagued by conflicts with the Black Phoenix Dynasty, were often forced to rely on Duke Mossred’s military support to survive. As a result, when Mossred demanded they join the Kingdom of Oslo, these nobles had no choice but to comply.
With the Fars Empire deeply embroiled in war, these nobles doubted that Strasbourg could provide any assistance. Mossred didn’t even need to attack them. By merely declaring that he wouldn’t intervene in the next Black Phoenix Dynasty offensive, the nobles knew their territories would be obliterated.
When Charlot's forces reached the border of the Kingdom of Oslo, they found it transformed into a massive military camp. Antonio, who had arrived earlier, had made several attempts to break into the camp, only to be repelled by Mossred. The former imperial duke and now king of Oslo had ascended to the Saint rank by obtaining the Proof of Kingship, making him a master of commanding thousands of riders. With the natural leadership granted by his title, combined with his family’s knightly forces, Mossred’s strength had surged, surpassing even Antonio’s.
It was thanks to Antonio’s Dragon Hammer, along with support from four other Saint-ranked individuals, that he had managed to withdraw unscathed from these engagements.
When Antonio met Charlot, he appeared slightly embarrassed. “I’ve faced Mossred several times,” he admitted. “He relies on the power of his knightly order and stays on the defensive. I haven’t been able to break through.”
“It’s good that you’ve come,” Antonio added. “With the eight of us Saint-ranked fighters, we can crush his knightly forces.”
Charlot found the approach somewhat crude but raised no objections. After all, they had eight Saint-ranked individuals. Apart from Viggo, who was relatively weaker at the 19th rank, the others—Black Dragon, Golden Ram Herolf, Silverback Gorilla Choudrou, Aspuros, Regulus—were all at the formidable 22nd rank, while Antonio and Cresto stood at the pinnacle of the 23rd rank.
With such overwhelming power, why bother with strategy? A direct assault would suffice.
Charlot even relinquished command, allowing Antonio to take full charge while he took Annie Mecklenburg and two ladies from the Axel family away from the battlefield.
With Charlot’s full support, Antonio’s confidence soared. He launched a full-scale attack, merging two knightly orders into a single force and charging straight at Mossred’s camp.
...
After his defection, Duke Mossred had anticipated retaliation from the Earl of Bretagne. To prepare, he consolidated his family’s knightly order and formed the Kingdom of Oslo Allied Forces, rallying six Saint-ranked individuals. He believed that the newly established Kingdom of Oslo was strong enough to resist any expeditionary force from the Fars Empire.
Unaware of the four-nation alliance, Mossred thought Fars was still locked in its grueling battle with Byron. He couldn’t have imagined that in less than a month, Antonio would come knocking at his door.
Exhausted from consecutive battles, Mossred had just repelled Antonio and returned to his camp when he heard the sound of an overwhelming charge. Grabbing his Knight’s Lance, he hurried out of his tent, only to see Antonio leading seven other Saint-ranked fighters and a tidal wave of troops. Mossred was shaken but roared defiantly, leaping into the air as his black combat energy erupted. Below him, his knightly order channeled their own energy, merging their aura with Mossred’s and forming a massive black military banner that fluttered in the sky.
The commanders of the other seven noble knightly orders responded in turn, with six bursts of light illuminating the battlefield. Two Saint-ranked individuals from the Oslo Allied Forces also merged their aura with their respective knightly orders, manifesting similarly imposing banners.
Previously, when Antonio had attacked the camp, he had targeted Mossred’s family knightly order, and the other allied forces had chosen to remain neutral. However, seeing Antonio now accompanied by seven Saint-ranked allies and thousands of elite knights, the noble commanders realized that if they didn’t act, Antonio’s forces would shatter their camp in one swift assault.
With no room for hesitation, the nobles gritted their teeth and joined the fray.
...
The two forces clashed in an instant.
Antonio and Mossred exchanged a single blow. Wielding the Dragon Hammer, Antonio roared, “Mossred! If you surrender, I can speak for His Majesty and pardon your crimes!”
Mossred sneered. “You think I’m a child to be fooled? After Redmir Axel and I killed the emperor, do you think the Earl of Bretagne or the other nobles would ever spare us?”
Antonio acknowledged the truth in Mossred’s words. Even if the Earl of Bretagne chose leniency, the other nobles would never forgive Redmir Axel and Mossred for their rebellion and regicide. The emperor’s authority was inviolable.
Unless Redmir Axel claimed the imperial throne, the Mossred family was doomed.
...
With no chance of reconciliation, both sides unleashed their combat energy, colliding fiercely. In mere moments, they had exchanged dozens of moves.
Cresto, the Grand Commander of the Royal Knightly Order, quietly drew his sword. At the 23rd rank, Cresto was a peerless Saint-ranked fighter, as formidable as Antonio or Amisfida, and he had even defeated Amisfida in the past.
This was war, not a duel, and Cresto had no qualms about teaming up with Antonio to ensure victory.
