Chapter 407: The Blood Ignition Technique

Charlot suddenly thought to himself, “Is Byron perhaps too powerful?”

Although Byron had suffered severe losses in the naval battles, its strength in Ferranden had remained steadfast against Fars. With the addition of the Duchess Mesu's northern fleet, its naval power had recovered by seventy to eighty percent. Furthermore, with the acquisition of the Fontainebleau and the recent alliance with Viscount Constantine, its might had been bolstered even further.

Charlot began to worry for his father-in-law.

While Juno Arthur proclaimed himself an old friend of the Bretagne family, the other vampire clans under Byron’s banner were certainly not. Moreover, even old friends could have moments of betrayal.

Still, this was clearly not something he could fret over. After all, he was merely a high-ranking Transcendent; affairs at the Saint rank, especially involving those at its peak, were far beyond his concern.

Juno Arthur snapped his fingers, and a black book with a cover adorned in shimmering golden runes materialized. He turned to Charlot and said, “You’ve already ascended to the high rank. Theoretically, you should have condensed your blood core long ago!”

Charlot’s face turned slightly red. He had indeed considered forming a blood core, even refraining from absorbing the life essence of enemies to keep his blood energy pure. Yet, he hesitated. After all, he still wanted to marry, have children, and live a family life. Becoming a vampire would strip him of the ability to procreate.

Juno Arthur smiled gently and said, “Those vampires created through ritual or the First Embrace—regardless of their rank or whether they’ve condensed a blood core—can no longer have offspring. But you still have a chance. It’s only natural that you’d be reluctant to rush into forming a blood core.”

“In my younger days...”

“I, too, was fond of human girls.”

“Unfortunately, I was so consumed by my pursuit of power that I hastily became a vampire before even having children. It’s something I regret to this day, but it’s far too late.”

Charlot was startled. “You were originally human?”

Juno Arthur smiled faintly. “Yes, of course! Most vampires were once human.”

Charlot then realized he had asked a foolish question. Naturally, vampires were not born but created... although perhaps some rare exceptions existed. At least, he had never heard of any.

Juno Arthur continued, “Since you haven’t condensed your blood core, how about your Origin Blood Ignition?”

Charlot answered softly, “I’ve already ignited the Arsilo Clan’s blood energy, as well as the Arthur Clan’s blood energy. The rest remain untouched.”

Juno Arthur nodded and said with a smile, “Since you’ve already begun Origin Blood Ignition, I’ll now teach you the Arthur Clan’s foundational secret technique: the Blood Bat Technique.”

This first-ranked vampire master was an exceptional teacher. He explained the Blood Bat Technique in simple terms and demonstrated how to transform the body to manifest blood bats.

This secret art was easy to learn and refine—a rare universal spell within the Blood Clan. It served multiple purposes: scouting battlefields, traveling as a swarm of blood bats, evading assassins, and even reconstructing a severely injured body. It bore some resemblance to the Bloodfire Transfiguration but was far more intricate.

At first, Charlot was only half-heartedly paying attention, but he soon became absorbed. As he delved into the core principles of the technique, he suddenly heard Juno Arthur say softly, “Let’s stop here for tonight. Dawn has arrived.”

Charlot opened his eyes slightly and found that the sky had indeed begun to brighten.

He stretched out his hand, and a black tome with golden runes appeared—a manifestation of the Blood Clan Verbal Spellcasting.

Opening the first page, he saw that it now recorded a single spell: the Blood Bat Technique.

Charlot closed the tome and let it vanish from his hands. He called for Mrs. Nancy and instructed her to prepare a carriage to take him to the Central Government Office.

On the way, Charlot dozed off. The night's intense training had drained his mental energy.

Once at work, he processed no official matters, opting instead to catch up on sleep. At noon, he accompanied Annie Mecklenburg for lunch. Noticing his fatigue, Annie asked him about it. Charlot confessed everything.

Annie was astonished and whispered, “So, the guest Byron brought to our home is actually the Blood Clan’s first-ranked master.”

Neither Earl Bretagne nor his daughter had mentioned this to her, as the matter was of great importance and needed to be kept strictly confidential.

Even Earl Bretagne hadn’t expected Juno Arthur to personally teach Charlot the Blood Clan Verbal Spellcasting.

Seeing Charlot so weary, Annie decided to skip her own duties. Together, they returned to 221B Baker Street. She prepared an afternoon tea for Charlot to enjoy after his rest.

Charlot didn’t overthink it, retreating to his room for a deep sleep. Though not truly exhausted—being a Transcendent—learning the Blood Clan Verbal Spellcasting had been mentally taxing.

By afternoon, Charlot felt slightly refreshed. After tea with Annie, the two strolled around the streets for a while.

That evening, Charlot escorted Annie back to 58 Elysée Avenue before returning to Baker Street. Settling onto his sofa, he felt a sudden wave of fatigue and closed his eyes involuntarily.

When he reopened them, he found himself once again in a flower-filled meadow. Juno Arthur, clad in Farsian hunting attire, smiled warmly and said, “Your talent for the Blood Clan Verbal Spellcasting surpasses that of other vampiric arts. Tonight, I will teach you the Arthur Clan’s Blood Ignition Technique!”

The first-ranked vampire master made a subtle motion with his hand, and Charlot immediately felt his blood reverse its flow. It surged with such intensity that his body nearly exploded, stopped only by a sliver of restraint.

He felt a chill in his heart and hastily activated Blood Glory, but it was no match for a peak Saint.

After demonstrating the Blood Ignition Technique, Juno Arthur meticulously explained its principles.

This Arthur Clan secret art manipulated an enemy’s blood, allowing the caster to unleash various effects. If an enemy fell prey to the Blood Ignition Technique, their blood would burn uncontrollably, leading to certain death if they failed to resist.

Once Charlot had a preliminary grasp of the technique, Juno smiled and asked, “Do you know the true application of the Blood Ignition Technique?”

Charlot shook his head. Juno made a gesture as if pulling a trigger and said, “You drain the enemy’s life essence to create vampiric bullets. As long as there are enough enemies, the bullets created by Blood Ignition will never run out. On the battlefield, you’ll always have a chance to turn the tide.”

Juno gracefully flipped in midair, his hands forming a delicate arc as he fired two vampiric bullets.

Even within the dream, Charlot could sense that the energy in those bullets didn’t originate from Juno Arthur himself but was drawn from Charlot’s own reserves.

This secret art was incredibly sinister and ruthless, yet paired with Juno’s elegant gun-fighting techniques, it transformed into the most refined method of killing.

Thus, Charlot spent another night immersed in grueling practice.
