Chapter 250: The Blood Rhinoceros

Willomar Stellar chuckled slightly and replied, “That’s impossible.”
Charlot’s expression shifted subtly, and an ominous feeling crept over him.
Seeing Charlot’s change in demeanor, Willomar Stellar realized the misunderstanding and smiled, explaining, “To my knowledge, even a Saint-rank alchemist, given ample materials, would take at least two years and six months to craft a Saint-rank transcendent weapon.”
“That particular Saint-rank transcendent weapon is now in the hands of Earl Bretagne. It’s a Saint-rank transcendent short spear.”
Charlot was mildly surprised. He hadn’t expected Annie Bretagne’s father to possess a Saint-rank transcendent weapon.
Calming himself, Charlot observed that Willomar Stellar exuded confidence and didn’t seem to be trying to deceive him. With the man right in front of him, even if there was some ulterior motive, Charlot felt he could handle it “as the situation unfolded.”
Although high-ranking alchemists held esteemed positions, their combat abilities were generally unimpressive. Charlot was confident he could skewer the man with a single sword strike if it came to that.
Unaware of Charlot’s sinister thoughts, Willomar Stellar could sense, however, that Charlot’s patience was reaching its limit. Smiling warmly, he decided to reveal the truth: “As you’re aware, we and the Byron vampires fought an unprecedented battle in Ferranden, involving dozens of Saint-ranks on both sides. Several Saint-ranks even perished.”
Charlot nodded slightly. Willomar Stellar continued, “Earl Gallanord killed a Saint-rank vampire and destroyed the enemy’s weapon. He found the weapon intriguing and entrusted it to our Stellar Workshop for repair.”
Charlot hadn’t expected that, after hearing about Annie Bretagne’s father, he would now also be hearing about Sophia Gallanord’s father. Offhandedly, he asked, “What governmental position does Earl Gallanord hold?”
Willomar Stellar seemed slightly surprised and responded, “He’s the Minister of War, one of the empire’s top-ranking officials. Haven’t you heard of him?”
Charlot broke into a sweat. Indeed, he had not.
He understood the weight of the title “Minister of War.” In earthly terms, it was equivalent to a U.S. five-star general or a French seven-star marshal. Charlot hadn’t realized that Sophia Gallanord’s family was so powerful—that her father, Earl Gallanord, was the Minister of War. This Minister of War had also recently slain a Saint-rank vampire on the battlefield in Ferranden...
Willomar Stellar waited a moment, and when Charlot didn’t ask further questions, he continued, “However, the most critical component of the weapon was destroyed, and my father was unable to repair it. Earl Gallanord decided to sell the weapon to us at Stellar Workshop.”
“My father originally planned to disassemble it to harvest a batch of rare materials. He didn’t expect you to bring in this Saint-rank blood core.”
“You must have guessed it by now—the component that Earl Gallanord destroyed in that Saint-rank transcendent weapon was the blood core. With the Saint-rank blood core you’ve provided, my father can restore it.”
Charlot finally understood why Saint-rank alchemist Hasu Stellar had been able to produce a Saint-rank vampiric weapon for him in just half an hour.
Taking a deep breath, Charlot opened the box in his hands. Inside was a short segment of chain, incredibly fine—slightly thinner than a pair of chopsticks. Of course, chopsticks didn’t exist on the Old Continent. It wasn’t particularly long, just enough to loop around his wrist once.
It was, essentially, a bracelet.
The chain glowed a blood-red hue, exquisitely crafted, but it didn’t resemble a weapon in the slightest.
Standing nearby, Willomar Stellar whispered, “This weapon requires the secret techniques of the Dorian Clan to activate. Without them, you may be unable to use it, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a Saint-rank vampiric weapon.”
Charlot asked calmly, “What is its name? And what special properties does it possess?”
Willomar Stellar answered, “Its name is Blood Rhinoceros.”
“The weapon master who designed Blood Rhinoceros was exceptionally skilled. Depending on the blood core embedded in it, the weapon can manifest in different forms and acquire unique attributes.”
“Originally, the weapon appeared as a short spear. But now that a Saint-rank Dorian blood core has been embedded, I have no idea what changes it might undergo.”
Charlot couldn’t extract any more useful information from Willomar Stellar, so he dropped the matter. Channeling a sliver of his Blood Glory into the chain, he confirmed that it was indeed a transcendent artifact, unfathomable in depth. At the moment, however, he couldn’t activate it.
Putting the Blood Rhinoceros away, Charlot said, “I have one final request: I hope Stellar Workshop can keep this confidential. Just say I used a baron-grade blood core.”
Willomar Stellar smiled and replied, “I can assist with that. However, you understand that related documents must be sent back to the Imperial Palace. Whether they leak information or not is beyond our control.”
Charlot smiled faintly and said, “Just do your best. I won’t demand more.”
Willomar Stellar hadn’t anticipated the imperial task would be completed so easily. After chatting with Charlot for a while, he excused himself, saying, “The workshop has many pressing matters, so I must take my leave.”
Charlot didn’t mind and replied, “I was about to depart as well.”
...
Leaving the Stellar Workshop, Charlot did not return to his carriage. Instead, he wandered the streets for a while. Passing a shop with a magical alchemical crystal display window, he checked to make sure no one was watching before stepping into the “Mirror World.”
The mirror spirit within this window behaved almost identically to the one inside the shop on Elysée Avenue. Using the same tactics as before, Charlot subdued the mirror spirit within half an hour, gaining control of this segment of the Mirror World.
However, the Rosé District was too far away. This Mirror World segment was entirely disconnected from the one Charlot had established on Elysée Avenue.
Charlot didn’t mind. He merely wanted a quiet place to examine the Blood Rhinoceros he had just acquired.
While in the Stellar Workshop, he hadn’t dared to fully unleash his abilities. But in the Mirror World, there was no such concern. Channeling all his Blood Glory into the blood vortex in his right arm, he directed the surging blood energy into the Blood Rhinoceros.
As expected of a Saint-rank artifact, its quality was extraordinary. Even after receiving nearly all his Blood Glory, the artifact remained unresponsive. When Charlot was on the verge of exhaustion and about to give up, the short chain suddenly wriggled upward as if alive, burrowing into the blood vortex in his right arm.
It was clear that this transcendent artifact possessed remarkable sentience. It simply had not yet acknowledged Charlot as its master.
Charlot pulled it out from his right arm. However, the moment he loosened his grip, the Blood Rhinoceros immediately slipped back into the blood vortex.
Aside from transforming from a Saint-rank blood core into a transcendent artifact, it seemed to exhibit no other change.
