How you doin?!

Book Update

I have an update from my editor. She won't have Codename: Freedom done until the 26th. I should have expected this since its 177k words. :( That means I'll only have 3-4 days to work on edits after I get it back if I want to finish it before DragonCon. So, there's been a change of plans. I was hoping to get it back in a week, which would allow me to start on Underworld chapters earlier. Instead, I'm going to be going through and working on my own edits in a separate doc, that way when I get her edited version back, I can compare the two. I honestly don't know how well this is going to work, but it's the only thing I can think of to get everything done before DragonCon. Sorry Underworld fans. Next month, I'll be working on it full time, so chapters are coming, just not as soon as I hoped.

Sadly, this means you guys won't get the final version much sooner than those on Amazon. It takes a while for it to upload there, son maybe 24 hours, but normally I try to get it to you at least a week early. That will be a no go this time. Sorry!

Random Workout Update

At the new house, I don't have much in the way of a gym and I've already cancelled membership to my old gym. What I do have is a heavy bag, some adjustable dumbbells, kettle bells, a medicine ball, and my body weight. It's been an interesting transition. I've been running a lot more than I was. Before I was using a stationary bike to limit impact on my knee so I could do more squats and dead lifts. My own stationary bike is broken, but I forked over the money for some really good running shoes and I've been able to run as much as I want. Even on cement, these things make it feel like you're running on a cushioned surface. I'm never buying cheap running shoes again.

I can't tell you how much I missed hitting a heavy bag. I know I might not come of as one of the cool kids in saying this, but I highly recommend the bags that allow you to vary weight by adding or subtracting water. The padded surface is even from top to bottom, unlike a sand bag in which you have to break in the lower area, which dense and more likely to cause injury to your wrists. I need to get one myself. I'm using a 80-100 lbs bag, at the moment, and it's great, but just not as forgiving.

What's your favorite body weight exercise?

Flexibility

I'm seriously working on my flexibility for the first time ever. Back in the day when I was kickboxing, it only took a few weeks before I was comfortable enough to kick someone in the head, but I want to do the splits for the first time ever. I have to admit, one of the reasons is because one of my old training buddies was one of those super flexible people naturally. I've been having to stretch anyways to keep things from getting too tight. My daughter is just starting gymnastics as well, so I want to help encourage her while she's young before she totally outclasses me.

Any flexibility advice?

Gymnastics

Any advice for a new gymnastics dad? She only four, so there's no hurry, but as you guys know, I really get into training. I want to cultivate the fun of the sport foremost, but... :D
