Devlog #9: Yapfest incoming
Added 2025-05-19 09:49:23 +0000 UTCHey hey! Given that the update came out yesterday and I'm taking my post release 3 day break, I don't have any news concerning V3's development just yet. Instead I want to use this devlog as an opportunity to offer some insight into V2's development and what the future holds.
1. Delays and release dates:
Despite V2's slight delay, V3's release date will remain unaffected.
That means V3 is still set to release 50 days (at most) after V2's original planned release, setting the target at June 29th with no further delays expected.
2. If I had to delay V2, how am I so sure I can get V3 out in less time?
The biggest takeaway from V2’s development was identifying what’s really slowing me down: rewrites.
I noticed I have a habit of coming up with "better ideas" after a scene is already scripted and rendered, be it a forum post, a chat, or an omni-event. On its own, that's not a bad thing. Replacing an idea with a better one is just part of the creative process.
The problem is when I’ve already rendered the original version and then decide to rewrite it. Suddenly I’m either working around existing material or worse, starting from scratch. That burned a lot of time during V2. Sometimes it even spiraled into other characters’ stories, causing even MORE rewrites.
3. So how do I rectify that and make sure I don't fall into the same issue during V3's development?
Good question!
I’m adjusting my workflow:
Before, I’d complete one girl’s content from start to finish (including renders) before moving to the next. Instead of doing that, I’m going to script all of the girls’ stories at the same time and hold off on rendering until I’m 100% sure that everything is locked in.
This should make my work more efficient and give me the flexibility to test out a lot of different story beats and ideas, without having to commit too much time to any of them.
And that's pretty much all for today's Devlog! Thank you for your support, and I can't wait for you to see what the game's future holds!
