Plans Post Disney Project
Added 2020-04-07 06:14:46 +0000 UTCSo I just wanted to talk about my plans after the Disney Project is over and reflecting on the project as a whole.
Personally I'm still invested in the idea of covering an entire franchise in one go. I find it was a really good way to be able to look at the entire string of Disney films as they evolved and see them changing in quick succession. It was a very interesting project to do.
But the Disney Animated Canon itself was not something I should have started with. There were simply too many films to cover and I found myself burnt out toward the end. Writing the final Roundup (with the Top 10 still to come) I find myself being unable to stomach writing anything for most of them. Part of that comes down to the Post-Tangled Disney movies coming in two flavors: Princess Films (Tangled, Frozen, Moana, Frozen 2) and Off Brand films (Wreck It Ralph, Zootopia, Big Hero Six, Wreck It Ralph 2) and me overwhelmingly preferring the Princess films. But I firmly believe that it comes down to having to write jokes and reviews for every single one that really gets to me.
There is going to be a compilation video for both the Roundup and In A Minute that feature the entire series each for the Disney Project as those kind of compilation videos tend to be very well-liked among the vast majority of audiences in similar series. So expect that shortly after this project wraps up.
So immediately Post Disney Project will be the following.
- Compilation of all Disney In A Minute videos
- Compilation of the Disney Roundups
- Top 10 Best/Worst/Blandest Disney Films
Immediately after that, I don't want to just jump into another project like this. I have Star Wars in mind, as it's shorter and less likely to burn me out, but I do want to put In A Minute away for a few months at least.
Honestly I've been finding myself inspired by Dev Diary, and looking into making a series detailing the creation of an RPG I've been trying to get off the ground for years. Even if I can't finish it, a Dev Diary-like series would be certainly interesting and give me the chance to talk about the RPG genre, game design, and the like as a whole in a structured environment.
Not 100% on this idea, though.
Beyond that, I am intending to do that MLP Top Ten I mentioned before, but as a Glass of Water instead of a big video. That will likely be sooner rather than later if I'm being honest, though.
In general I'm looking forward to a break from the monotony of In A Minute and having more time to work on Glass of Water, which I've been hungry to get back to after taking a break from it after Abandon Ship to work on The Sith Resurgence. I would like to get back into doing videos about cartoons, now that I've got more things to watch.
In truth, as exhausting as it's gotten the Disney Project proved to be a necesary break from modern animation to not only have a chance to find new things to watch and put aside for work, but also to get a break from the tropes that were driving me crazy.
And yes for those of you wondering, I am still planning to do the rest of the Pokemon videos, so look forward to that. Again, once the Disney Project isn't looming over my head it'll be easier to set aside time for it.

I don't really have anything constructive to add, I just want to make your day a little better. And when you feel down, read this and know that I and others appreciate you, what you've done, and where you will go. Be safe Lily. ~♡

2020-04-26 20:40:47 +0000 UTCId love to see you talking about an rpg type game! That sounds awesome.
2020-04-07 20:55:56 +0000 UTCLooking forward to it! Making all this content sounds absolutely exhausting
2020-04-07 19:20:33 +0000 UTCI really like the idea of you talking about game design i still mention to friends your points about leaf guard second chance and once more being a huge balance point in KH. It really helped me better understand how single player games can have a meta to them that is outside of just clear optimization. Keep up the good work Lily you make us all proud.

2020-04-07 17:54:18 +0000 UTCI'm looking forwards to those post-disney videos, you're thoughts on those movies have been pretty unique and interesting to hear. And glass of water is always a favourite! I like the diary idea too (tho I'm somewhat worried you'll run into the radio silence problem, which could take the fun out of it). Either way, all sounds like good stuff :)

2020-04-07 12:36:19 +0000 UTCAs someone who’s favourite series of yours is In A Minute, I think taking that break from it is an overwhelmingly good idea. Can’t wait for the Star Wars videos, but I’m looking forward to more Glass of Waters first.

2020-04-07 06:34:00 +0000 UTCI think the Dev Diary would be an interesting project. There’s so many little things that are included in the development of a RPG game would be fascinating and engaging topic. I’m looking forward to seeing all the amazing stuff Lily has planned, especially if she’s excited for it. Happy is key! Love all the ideas. Can’t wait to hear more. 💜💜
2020-04-07 06:26:45 +0000 UTCOh, a Dev-Diary would be so cool! And you could (hopefully) get some feedback on your passion project. And the added personal investment should help you avoid burnout easily. However, because In a Minute is starting to take a toll, maybe skipping some of the off movies wouldn’t hurt. I remember your original Disney movie list on tumblr, and it didn’t have all the movies on it because it was too much. It wouldn’t hurt to remove a couple more. Especially since it could easily cause a bigger burnout. But since you’re planning to muscle through them, I have to say I’m excited to see them and I can’t wait for the Star Wars Project. (Sorry for the long comment, but I remember that you often want feedback on things). Hope everything goes well! ❤️
