Ecchi Sensei Week 1 - Status Report No. 7:

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

today I want to give you more information on the current progress and on why we had to delay the release dates so much.

Let's start with the bad news.

In the first team meetings in which we discussed what changes needed to be made on the game, we badly miscalculated the necessary effort regarding the ingame script text.

As most of you already know, each Ecchi Sensei update contains a lot of images and text. The latter is the big problem because a single update contains roughly 10000-12000 lines of code, totalling roughly 50000 spoken words in the script.

(For your information, a 300 page book contains roughly 110000 words)

Day 1-3 have been rewritten completely and now the problem is that my very diligent colleague now has to do double and triple the work because the game will now be available in multiple languages.

For Latecomer, the work looks as follows:

German proofreading -> Script optimization -> English translation -> English proofreading

In other words: He needs to read and correct the text for every ingame day several times and write all of it again in English, too. This enormous workload is the main reason for the delay but I am happy to tell you that we are making very good use of the time.

In this week, over 200 pieces of music with a total runtime of over 13 hours have been created and dadded to the game.

Because the music alone takes up 500+ MB in the game (not counting the sound effects), we will be offering Week 1 downloads in multiple variations.

There will be the uncompressed full version with all of the content

Then there will be a version with all of the content that has slightly compressed images

And a version with slightly compressed images with fewer bells and whistles

And a version with slightly compressed images with only few bells and whistles

As well as a very compressed version

Maybe there will be more versions, too, but these five are guaranteed in the planning for now.

The Ecchi Calendar has been added to the script and contains a full year. In the Ecchi Calendar, you will find automatically updating notes for coming events such as birthdays, exams, and other things.

At the moment I am working on something which I guess most people might not be interested in and that's why I've been thinking for a long time on how to best design it so that every player can enjoy it. I'm talking about statistics.

Yeah, many people think it's a waste of time, that's why I thought about what statistics are actually about, namely the evaluation and analysis of facts. Sounds very dry and boring but in the Ecchi Sensei Statistics you also gain amusing insights next to useful information.

You wanna know what words Tomoe uses the most? No problem!

You want to know how often your wife says your name or uses it in her thoughts? No problem!

You want to know how often "fuck" was said in the game? No problem!

The Ecchi Sensei Statistics are set up in a way that even those people who absolutely don't like statistics will hopefully find them enjoyable and end up catching themselves clicking through the individual character profiles late at night to find out things such as the most used words or what characters had the most text in total and who got how many votes on which day in the "Most liked characters" poll.

In the Ecchi Sensei Statistics you will be able to read about all of that and more.

But we're not done yet...

New characters have been made this week. A few of them are already set to appear in D8 & D9, others will appear throughout Week 2:

Unfortunately I can't say too much because the mere existence of some characters is a spoiler.

But what I can say is the following:

Two new teachers

A psychologist

A Past Time character

A mother

Tomoe's sisters

Alright, that was it for this week. I hope you enjoy the status report, and if you have any question, feel free to ask them here or on Discord.

Next week there will be a character reveal, on top of that, from next week onwards, there will also be more information regarding the *drum roll* NEKO CLUB.

So long,

Blue

There's a page on SubscribeStar. The tier information is all there and there are a few subscribers, but no posts yet.

What is the backup page? Already lost 1 of my creators on here and sadly missed out where he went :(

Stonethrower

Do you intend to start crossposting these to the uh, backup page? I know it's just a fallback for now, but you do have patrons there already.

Ver Greeneyes

I mean D6 lol

Raven Tomoe

Thanks for the update Blue Cat, Really looking forward to the reveal of the new teacher's and the psychologist. I believe I might know who's the psychologist could be from what I see, an person we meet during D7 if I'm right we just have to wait and see. ;P

Raven Tomoe

I read on F95 that it will be around mid-June. Don't know how accurate that is, but there you go.

So, first off thank you for updating all of us on what is going and what has been planned. All these bells and whistles look neat and will make your game that much more unique. In saying that, it does worry me. I do appreciate your ambition, but I hope that all these bells and whistles do not become too much and you and your team get burned out trying to keep up with everything and fixing the inevitable bugs that come along with all of these features. I am only speaking for myself, but the story and characters are what brought me here and will keep me here. I just hope that isn't lost amongst all of this other stuff.

Badger66

Not to sound harsh but what’s the estimated release date for week 1?

Chris

Hello, at first thank you very much for your pledge. In best case, you join my discord and we talk there about your character: https://discordapp.com/invite/Kkh8Cum The other option would be we use the patreon private message system.

BlueCat

I just joined the 50 dollar plan, Where do i go to create a character?
