Chapter 17 is here!
Oh god, it's been such a long time since these two have had the chance to sit down and talk. Since Nov 2021 our time to be precise! ;_; And man, do they have a lot to catch up on! The last time they saw each other (and recognized each other) things were in dire straits, and when they separated, many questions were left unanswered. What will they learn about each other and will it be enough to bridge the 300 years between them? How will they feel about how the other has changed?
Ah we're excited about this chapter, it's been so long since they had the chance to really be with each other. It'll be a little reminiscent of chapter 3 or 8, which is so refreshing after the tense chapters of the last book. We should have new pages by the end of the week!
So plants... why are they so hard to draw? I had to use so many techniques on this cover in order to save time! Very grateful for the brushes I saved. But it was still hard!

2025-05-09 17:52:40 +0000 UTCYES a background of woods or similar with so many different plants is SO hard to draw - but I love how this background looks!! 💖 I have studied Tyrus Wong's background paintings from Bambi so much, because he simplifies the forest background so beautifully, but I have such a hard time simplifying the way he did! 🥺

Raz has experienced and.grown so much that Sul hasn't believed it was really him TWICE. I can't wait to watch them individually come to terms with the fact that the man they fell for and have pinned after for 3 centuries.... no longer exists, in a way.

Deep analysis: The plants by Raz are the ferns, he's endured and had so much resilience which has deeply changed him. From losing Sulvain, his mentor, his old life, and gaining the new pain of have the old life in length. Now, he's remet Sulvain. He's beginning a new journey. Of confronting what he didn't know then. And relearning who Sulvain is now and who he himself is. Sulvain is the Monstera, he's had a very long life, but most likely even if his life has been alone without Raziol, he's lived an abundant and prosperous life so far. Then the prosperity, and new beginnings fits both of them. They're immortals. They just remet, they can work through what happens even if it's bumpy. They have millenia together now. Additionally; the tree lengths. Raziol's goes to just above his head. He's lived a long time. But Sulvain's tree. It's so long it continues where the cover ends. Sulvain has lived a much longer time, and Raziol in the picture can see Sulvain, and his tree. His life. Guesstimate; When Sulvain and Raziol met, Sulvain's tree might have been the size of Raziol's now.

Sulvain and Raz will weave a new bridge to be together again and to "bridge"/close/learn about the 300 year gap between them as you said. Also, I wonder if it means Sulvain will be Weaving Bridges with those threads of Life and Death that are part of his magic as a Necromancer. Speaking of Sulvain being a Necromancer: where is his little pin/talisman? If it was pictured I didn't notice, and I don't mean to call it a talisman, I just forget what the proper name for it is.

2025-02-01 14:59:29 +0000 UTCactually, that over their heads is the scorpio constellation! the red star is its main one, antares. i don’t think we’ve ever seen it be as present and relevant in the story/art as orion was, but since they’re both now in another side of the world, their skies are adorned with different stars as well. britannica (lmao) says it governs the period from oct 24 to nov 21– some time around it, many centuries ago, they met for the first time. so i’m guessing this is a way to represent that “we’re back to the beginning, just different” feeling?

Theoretically it could be their emotions trying to conjoin. With Sulvain’s orange more pointed and closer to Raz. While Raziol’s brown is hesitant in its reach. Raziol's gaurd is down and he's shocked but his posture is mostly open and pointed toward Sulvain. He's hopeful. Could this really be his Sulvain? Sulvain is more guarded being in a crossed legged position. His hand is reaching out to Raziol's face like he needs proof that this was real. His expression is sad, like he doesn't trust his eyes that Raziol is right there. But he's also pointed to Raziol, so there is hope. I just think it's really sad that he's ended up looking like this. Hopefully he can finally do some healing now.

Raziol's confidence he had moments before in the study room seems to have melted away, his feet are crossed and pulled under him. I remember how he used to comfort himself...arms crossed, holding himself, as if he were alone in this world. His first instinct is to withdraw. Even his outstretched hand is curled in, pulling back, even as he leans in ever so slightly. Sulvain, on the other hand...wow its as if he has resumed his search from the night in the catacombs. His strength, fighting everyone in his way, searching, striving, seeking. Raziol was the only person that mattered. The only one he wanted. Here his foot is forward in an act of familiarity. Sulvain is looking straight at Raziol, his upper body turned to him...arm reaching, almost touching his face as if he doesn't believe his eyes. And the STARS behind them! Omg. I could talk about this all night. I'm so excited, I may cry. 🥰😭❤️❤️
