Jokes aside among the comfort and joy that may come with meeting Sulvain I wonder if he’ll feel anger too. It’s not Sulvain’s fault directly yes, but that would bring such an interesting depth. Either way I believe Kaiju won’t disappoint.

He probably had a period of just trying to control his impulses where he was completely isolated as to not hurt others. Not to mention he saw everyone he loved died. Sulvain was at least asleep for most of that time but Raz wasn’t. He has probably spent all this time alone, scared, and extremely paranoid. He had to put walls up. Raziol probably didn’t have anyone to walk him through immortality, nobody to comfort him and we know Raz is a very sensitive boy. 🥺 I feel like him seeing someone that made him feel safe, someone that was his shelter in the past, and that he loved so dearly will send his walls crashing down. I think there will be a lot of crying lmao. Another thing that could happen is denial for like a couple of seconds and then a crash of emotions lol

(Perhaps it’s just me) But there’s a slight withdrawal, not necessarily coldness but a wall. He’s still the same, but there’s a confident wisdom, or a lingering pain in him now. Time will tell. I’m just dying to know how he held up all those years…

2024-12-09 05:33:57 +0000 UTCReally good points— I also wouldn’t be surprised if Raziol has become more withdrawn… I got sad thinking about it the other day, but Raziol struggled to find his place among people in the first place, and now he’s been bitten which probably forced a degree of isolation (for a while at least). And he can’t find company and community in Magoi the way sulvain and the others can since he isn’t one. Not quite human, not quite magoi, and having lost his soulmate… I can’t imagine how he has struggled all these years 🥺🥺

2024-12-09 04:09:19 +0000 UTCI’ve always really enjoyed about Raz that for as deferential as he was in his relationships and interactions outside of the academy in the 1600s, he had a WAY different energy in that academic space. I think he’s always had a chip on his shoulder and an instinctual need to defend his place among academics—it strikes me as TOTALLY him to say “no” straight up to someone trying to rush him out of his study room. You’re right that it’s a little rude! Or at least not what most of us would choose to do. But that’s what makes him such a great character to me—in Paris it seemed like he had a tendency sometimes to make himself small, and he knew it, so if there was one thing worth defending it was his place in the library. And frankly, now that he’s some kind of werecat, we should all be relieved he didn’t come out hissing 😂

A lot of things are frustrating at the moment. I want to know more and why and how and when ...I'm one to binge read because I get so hyper fixated lol. But this is ok, the dramatic effect and slow reveal allows us to appreciate all the small details. That said, I can’t help but feel it was pretty inconsiderate of Raziol not to simply open the door and let this ‘person’ know he’ll be out in an hour or meet him later. Given that this individual either can’t speak or doesn’t want to, making him pass notes under the door seems unnecessarily rude and time-consuming when a quick verbal reassurance would’ve sufficed. I see what the authors are doing for the sake of the story, but still I’m kind of annoyed at them both even though they don’t know who is on the other side of the door… Raziol for making Sulvain pass notes and take up his precious time and Sulvain for bothering him when he knows he has work to do. Maybe it’s just me… lol. Raziol could have also told him that’s he’d leave the books with the librarian at the desk for him when he was done. This just doesn’t seem realistic to me, but I’m not going to dwell… I love it no matter what. I also seem to not be able to get past the fact that they are both “freshmen.” Even if Sulvain is self-taught, I have a hard time believing that in a near millennium, he has never taken any formal classes in anything. He was writing anatomy/physiology books way back in the 1600s, and here he is taking basic biology 101? And Raziol has been formally trained in the sciences… possibly for hundreds of years. Or on and off, I’d imagine, since he would have had to take some time to master his vampire nature. But he can’t just give up on learning- I doubt he could. Why is here hanging out as a freshman? Thus, I wonder if them both being here is a cover for something else. Like are they just posing as students for a greater reason? It seems Sulvain and Sherwin are investigating Vivi’s code and needed something at this university to solve it. Maybe they will end up going on an Indiana Jones-style adventure… we already have the map and would just need the little red line going from place to place. Lol. (I hope we get to see it!) Maybe Raziol is working on something similar for Vivi, hence why they needed the same books and both ended up at the same university… Maybe they also just wanted the college experience? I am so confused… This is why I NEED TO KNOW what they have been up to in all this time. And speaking of maps, I wonder what type of map Vivi used. Since they mentioned coordinates, I wonder if she used a regular cartesian coordinate system (which happened to be invented by René Descartes in the 1600s). It would have been relatively new. Or would she have used a geographic/geodetic coordinate system based on angles on a non-planar surface that Sherwin would have had to translate? Throughout history, different systems and methods for measuring latitude and longitude were used. I’m sure more modern measurements of geodetic datums are much more accurate, than they were back then, so how accurate are Sherwin’s measurements? I’ll just assume Vivi was super accurate however she mapped it with whatever system she used. Anyway, here I go rambling. We all just need them to meet up again…
