It seemed almost like a weight, keeping him tied to his past (as well as souvenirs). Now, he doesn't seem to have many belongings at all. Did Vivi listen to his request before he went into the coma and sold/got rid of his things for him? Perhaps she kept a small number of special items for him at the embalmer??
