I totally understand why this movie ruined m night's career and reputation. Unbelievably bad movie but so funny at the same time. Them running from wind had me choking with laughter. Also the twist wasn't even a twist; it was pushing it on you the whole time. The movie he does right after is The Last Airbender and it's such an insult to that franchise that you guys need to dub it too lol

2025-01-06 01:44:24 +0000 UTCThe movie has good ideas, the ecosystem trying to correct us from destroying it, the horror of everyone just suddenly killing themselves, people's mood affecting how the plants see them as a threat or whatever. The movie ending with it not being over and maybe similar size attacks are going to happen all over the world. I could see why someone like M Night would want to make this movie. But the character work is all cardboard and it's hard to pull off these scifi/horror elements in a way that's actually interesting to watch. I think they wanted Marky to be a kind of Indiana Jones type, an academic who uses his knowledge to take action and save people. Zooey was just there. The grandma being a Resident Evil 7 character was the best and most tense character.
