2022-03-23 19:11:53 +0000 UTCThe thing with many godzilla movies is the subject matter is intended to be a tragedy, however, their delivery turns them into comedy. You don't need to watch any godzilla movies in order because the story doesn't make any sense. Just pick the ones YOU think looks fun. My brother and I recently watched a lot of godzilla movies from the criterion collection. We agreed that the following are best for commentary: king kong vs godzilla '62, godzilla vs king ghidorah (60s or 90s are both good), godzilla vs megalon. These selections have cool fight scenes and lots of funny stuff as well. I would advise to stay away from the original godzilla, shin godzilla, and the return of godzilla. These movies are good but are a more serious in tone. I don't believe these would be good to do commentary. However, the original godzilla is the best of the entire series. -fartooloud
