IS Heavy Lance Mechs

Here's another Lance complete, including the Centurion which I don't think has been shown off at all yet.

I think this is a pretty cool lance for not being made up of the typical superstars of the setting, but all important workhorse mechs that you're going to want filling out your armies.

I know I haven't kept up on them as good lately, so which of these do you want to see turnaround renders on the most?
Or in general what would you like to see more on my patreon?

Going back to this after reviewing the concept sketchs posted in the KS update. I just realized that the in the 3d model the Centurion's laser is more pronounced and LRM launcher is flat instead of contoured to the torso I wish that feature of the concept sketch had been kept

Nyxus

The 3S was decided over the 3E because they wanted to keep it appealing, especially to newcomers. And to be honest, seeing a 95 T assault mech with a paltry three weapons on it can be a bit of a turn off to the players that haven't found or appreciate that charm. Hence, the heavily upgraded 3S version and its wide array of weaponry.

Malintus

I'm a huge Banshee fan. Out of curiosity though, why opt for the 3S instead of the classic 3E? Don't get me wrong, as a hardcore Steiner I ADORE the 3S but the 3E will always be my fave because it has that underdog charm and it's pulled more than a few miracles for me in the past.

To answer the questions in the post, I think the Hatchetman could benefit from a turnaround render so we could see how that axe fits from a different angle (unless I misunderstand what you mean by turnaround render). Personally I like the lineart and sketches of the in-progress mechs

The centurion is one of this mechs you can always find a use for. It's not my favourite mech by any means but it it one of those ones that you just cant say no to. It's a good all rounder that fill a number of niches

Nyxus

Thanks. Would have been cool to have that as a "default" pose, but makes sense for stability's sake. I supposed modding for a jumping pose should be fairly easy as well.

He have to have both feet attached to the base to help lessen warping of the plastic minis. IWM will be able to do jumping con-special / onlien only variants down the line.

Anthony Scroggins

Gonna be a bit before you see that haha. But maybe not last.

Anthony Scroggins

Yeah this isn't a fast mover Banshee, it's Steiner wall of steel. Sitting there level its 2 PPCs and AC10.

Anthony Scroggins

Just being faithful to the original launcher :D

Anthony Scroggins

Depending how you interpret some of the art, it has a bit of a flare out at the pelvis. MWO did a very similar thing. Original Cent has a tiny head, we sized it up a bit, but not too much. I just wanted it big enough to fit a pilots shoulders sitting up into it.

Anthony Scroggins

Hopper head is big because it kinda needs to fit the entire pilot in there. Centurion pose is an homage to the original lineart. The sculpt looks very derpy in t-pose, turning the head helps most humanoid mechs look a lot more dynamic.

Anthony Scroggins

Question in regards to upcoming mechs (though I understand if you can't say anything about it). Has there been any discussion about having one (or more) of the mechs in a jumping pose as the redesign sculpt? Thanks.

Centurion! That mech will always have a special place in my heart

BFenix

I dunno, this form makes it more obvious that its frame is based on Roman imperial armor.

Peter Campi

Those are gorgeous, though I have to boo any Banshee that mounts more guns than fists. Tis a betrayal of the True Banshee Way!

Terence Harris

I really, really like all of these. Hatchetman is way cool and I really dig the Centurion. The Banshee is pure gold. Finally I also get my Grasshopper model which I'm really looking forward to. Amazing work

Martin Sweeney

I like that Hatchetman. To me, the axe resting on the shoulder says the pilot is thinking: "Oh, I'm just out for a stroll, ready to hack into anything getting in my way" and that they have the skills to back it up.

Oh, and as for what I want to see, your take on the Guillotine is at the top of my list. I have a lot of fondness for that mech.

That Banshee is going to make my OldSculpt Banshee very jealous.

The Centurion is my favorite Battlemech Full stop This version is something special

James Bixby

That Banshee damn it looks good.

Mark D Booth

On the whole, looking good! Like that the Centurion still adopts elements of the MWO version (wide hips, wide chest) without looking "musclebound." Props on the Banshee look too. Would definitely love to see more renditions on some of the other less-visible or even obscure mechs from TRO 3050.

Zachary Parliman

I'm with you. Weakest of the four easily.

Charles Lubanje

Great job on these! The posing is subtle and menacing and I love it. As a long time user of the Banshee I personally love the pose it's in. It evokes the image of a big burly thug casually leaning back and firing it's big guns all while gleefully chortling "Hurr hurr hurr", ala Pete from the Goofy Movie, and I absolutely love that image on this guy. Well done.

Looks like I'm in the minority in finding the Cent somewhat uninspired. The rest look awesome though.

Aaron Stevens

Thankful the Centurion isn't that chunky MWO mess. Looks regal and classic. Getting this lance for sure.

David Razi

I get why they picked the Warhammer and Timber Wolf for the statues, but that Banshee 3S is a beast. I like action poses as much as the next guy, but some mechs just deserve a power stance.

Mike

Ooof...I think I'm gonna have to re-open my Pledge and add a second set of this Lance. These are incredible!

I mean, the 2d art for the Cent was pretty awesome.

The LRM10 on the centurion looks a bit uninspired, but the rest is pretty awesome with Banshee-3S being my favourite. Looking forward to a picture where the angle allows a better look at the sizes.

Swen Decker

Can we all agree that we're glad he didn't go the MechWarrior Online route with the Centurion? This one is WAY better in comparison.

Is there a reason the pelvis on the Cent is so big and the head so small? To me, it feels like the hips on it are crazy wide compared to its torso.

Raymond White

I love the look of the Grasshopper, a mech that I don't typically care for. I think you nailed the head, making it look distinctive and "insecty" but not silly looking like some past editions. I do miss the "shield" on the MWO Centurion's left arm. That and the giant shoulder pad gave a nice visual effect to the side tanking tactics. The way the head is sculpted to look like it is wearing a helmet is fantastic though.

Ryan de Haas

First and foremost - considering the original source material for these things, I think you have pulled off a minor miracle!!! I really like the Banshee (it has always looked kind of doofily bland) but this looks just like a workhorse! The Hatchetman is also super rad - even if my MechWarrior raised self pretends that BattleMech Melee does not exist! My only real "critique" on the GHR is: the head looks a little large and out of place - maybe scale the noggin down 15-20%. The Centurion (i think) may look a little sharper with the head locked on straight - as opposed to tilting off - but those are just my thoughts.

I’m not a huge fan of the centurion, it seems to have lost distinctive flavor for a more generic boxy look. Not a show stopper but not really an improvement to me. You all are doing great work and still can’t wait to get these on the board!

Dan Hegarty

My current issue is I plan on painting up a couple companies as my personal Merc unit, but every time I see new renders it drives home that I don't want to leave any of the new mechs out...

wiski

Alan Blackwell works fast, really fast. He did all but the Banshee.

Anthony Scroggins

DUDE ARE THESE THE FINISHED CENTURION AND HATCHETMAN BATTLEMECHS?!

Tyler Erickson

You did good here with the Cent, real good! Would love to see a turnaround of the Grasshopper though, it's pose is intriging.

Maxime C. Rosa

Noice! First Grasshopper that actually almost looks good, IMO. Hatchy would love to see a wraparound of.

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

Like all of these, especially the Cent. Much better than the MWO version!

Andrew Dickinson

That one's getting real close, but the Orion is still stuck in design hell for a bit longer.

Anthony Scroggins

I like the MWO Centurion a lot, but I know that's not what a lot of people want, and we can't copy MWO either. Upper management also wanted something more faithful. So here we are.

Anthony Scroggins

We have to do some standing/power poses, and other mundane poses time to time, or we just final destination ourselves into every mech being full action samey. A different kind of mundane. The Hopper is posed as "fast" as possible for a mech with legs that long, it's also leaning into its run as much as possible, weighted forward on the base more than any other mech. We do what we can :)

Anthony Scroggins

Everytime you post your designs I get more and more excited for the delivery date. My father and I have gotten 2 of each IS Lance to split between us and your designs are *amazing.* I can't wait to see the rest of them, speaking of, and sorry if I sound impatient, but ETA on the Direct Fire Lance models image pack?

Malintus

To be honest, I was terrified you'd go too MWO-ish on the centurion - I hated that model. This one I love. Great job. As far as want I want to see on here? My Turkina XD

While the Banshee itself looks good, the pose is kind of aggressively uninteresting. Grasshopper isn't as bad, but I think it could also benefit from a more interesting pose.

Everything looks flawless here, and you're nailing it on handling your patreon. ^_^

Jordan G Roberts

That centurion is exactly what I wanted. I've already preordered x4 of these. I may need to preorder more. That's just incredible. Absolutely LOVE it. Keep it up man :D

The DRT

It's a great looking lance!

Carlos Sempere

Really like what you did with the centurion. New but classic.
