Kodiak Concept Sketch

This one was relatively easy to work on, other than needing plenty of detail work to scale at 100tons. I was able to take the old art, once again a design where the tro lineart is largely ignored, and integrate all the good bits into the modern sensibilities we have in our head.
If this screams MWO Kodiak at you, it's almost all down to one thing: The CCG art head. I could have improved on the Ghost Bear emblem style head but the CCG head is just cool, and is one of the few cases where I think a totem animal look works well.
Otherwise pretty classic torso and leg forms. Get ready to be hugged by those claws.

I may have... procured a MWO style Kodiak miniature at some point in time. And the claws are not okay for a miniature at all.

2019-10-16 03:03:31 +0000 UTCThe MWO-ness comes more from the head being below the shoulders than from the specific design of the head, I think. MWO did a similar treatment to the Atlas, giving it tall, hulking shoulders with the head recessed in between them. I always thought that made the Atlas look very silly, but it doesn't look so silly on the Kodiak, oddly enough. I appreciate that it is otherwise the same mech in terms of proportions, key details (e.g. the center torso slats, the three-spoke feet, etc.)—it's obviously a Kodiak. And let's be honest: *no* version of the Kodiak looks like the TRO art. Not the RP/IWM sculpt, not the MWO design, not the MW2 design, and not this one.
