Brentford (a) - Instant Reaction

Music is fine mate. Better than hearing "Tarteta!!!!!!"

I think if you keep listening you’ll see he wasn’t saying what you might think he’s saying.

Paul @ 9:30 fucking delusional

Bring the old music or we riot. Btw music is a a part of the brand. I hear it I know its Arsenal Vision. Something you shouldn't change. Its like Coca cola changing its logo.

Thanks so much. It’s nice to have fun about Arsenal. Even if they won’t play along

I really want you guys to discuss about the possibility of playing Pepe as CF ?? I think he will be super with Saka, ESR and MO behind him? I think he is faster, stronger and better finisher than Laca and Auba

Im just in Richmond, North Yorkshire seeing my in laws. Youre never far from another fan

I thought the team looked timid. And its not so much a lack of physical size. Its a lack of being confident in their actions. No one knew how to play with the players around them.

Just wanted to say thank you for the work you guys do on the pods. I only started listening in January, I live in North Yorkshire and have no fellow gooners around here that I know of, so its wicked to have some sort of outlet to escape into. Keep up the amazing work, and always keep the faith, the good times will roll once more.

Stock rising: the new podcast intro music

My thoughts exactly when watching the game

Surely we need a number 1 keeper not a back up? Leno can be backup and we can get a proper one to start

I just have my concerns about the Amazon documentary is the next step down the PL picking order As everyone will see the mess that is inside our club. Watch as we see Edu running through the Highbury House to close a last minute deal with Jerome Boateng leading up to a nightmare 9th place season. Maybe Arsenal didn't realise players watch those as well..? Targets like Ben White don't know the mess at Arsenal like we do so they join based on historical status and probably Mikels story. From next season on, we cannot make up any more Arsenal fairytales, which is not helping at all.

Thanks for the pod… helps deal with the pain… thanks Paul for highlighting the clear positives too… we can’t underestimate the young talent we got

It seems like we have to buy around the manager. Like Mikel is so bad that we have to buy huge amounts of quality to get slightly better. It is a managers job to get the best out of the players we have right now. Mikel is just absolutely nowhere near good enough. We already have a great squad. Easily top 6 in my opinion, just the worst manager possible for it...

Our £50m center back really does have aerial presence and heading ability of Matteo Guendouzi

Completely agree on the idea that we need to revert to a back three for now. I would probably ideally go with a three at the back with Tierney-Gabriel-White and Tavares at LWB alongside either Bellerin or Chambers at RWB (I personally think that AMN could do the role if he ever gets the CM thing out of his head).

Worryingly, I don't think having Auba and/or Laca out there would have made any difference - if anything it would have made us even less dynamic up top.

You guys say that there are excellent players but team was bad. So you guys say everything but doesn't mention the name and lay the accountability. Well you don't invite me on pos but I will say Arteta is out of depth. He needs to go and doesn't have the nous to manage a club like Arsenal. I dont see any difference between Arteta and Emery. We need Conte who has the track record to make the team better than the sum of parts. I have been saying this from a long time back, a coach primary aim is to get the team playing above themselves Arteta does the opposite.

I think overall the sheer lack of intensity is what’s holding this team back more than anything. 65% possession looks good on a score sheet when you’re tapping the ball back and forth in neat triangles. The day we start fizzing the ball into feet and into the channels with real intent to hurt defenses is the day we progress as a team

Thanks for the pod guys, cathartic.

That second goal was painful to watch. It was obvious what was coming and we couldn't stop it. Flashback to Delap throw ins Wenger teams couldn't defend.

Arteta is just out of depth. He makes players look worse than they are. The attack makes you constipated. It's so boring, one dimensional, regimented and robotic. Leno had a shocker and David raya looked like a beast. Untill Leno learns to catch high balls in his box he will be bullied by forwards.

A tough listen… but a great discussion. Thanks team for putting it together so quickly after the game. Roll on, errrr, Chelsea… 😬

This is going to be a tough listen

Just too frightful in the final third. Those constant long shots and playing it out to the fullbacks were the sign of players who were worried about losing the ball high up and scared to be creative. Where’s our one touch passing, does it really exist!? The few times we played close one twos we carved through Brentford like butter. 3 times our players opted to play it square to tierney instead of to one of our forwards who was free between the opposition RB/CB, other teams see that pass but we don’t. The tooth paste is up the tube a lot better but we just let the opposition off the hook every time we’re around their box! Don’t get me started on pablo ‘plays like an under 23 making his premier league debut’ Mari, shocking !

The fixture and start we really didn't want. From here we have to just take it that any points from the next two games would be a positive. I lost a lot of faith in Arteta after how we set up and performed in the Europa League Semi Final. But the potential plan Artera supposedly had got me back on board, but maybe that's more what the fans think the plan is. It remains to be seen, I'll try keep the faith. Brentford seen our flaws and attacked them accordingly. Missing players or not. I would of hoped for more but 37 games to go. I hope its not a case of counting down the chase for 40 points like last season was.

Second that Kiran!

Just wanted to say thank you for the time and effort you put into the livestream before the match. Was the highlight of my evening - way better than suffering through the match!

It's incredible how long its been since watching Arsenal was consistently entertaining and fun. Without this and the Arsecast, depression would overpower my passion for this club.
