Final Preseason Transfer Pod

Elliot and Clive get together for a final chat about transfers before the season kicks off. They debate the club's positional priority and what that priority should look like. There's a detailed conversation that covers all the rumors, as well as a question about what's really missing at Arsenal heading into the season.

Final Preseason Transfer Pod

Comments

So much sense here. Pod was 1 hour and 7 minutes. I genuinely wonder, with Mikel helping the team preparing for games and Edu.. well.. somwhere.. Do these guys even have the time and focus to consider options, think two steps ahead. To have a deep and proper talk in person to make decisions on huge investments? Apart from expertise, someone should dedicate his time on recruitment the whole year. As they themselves must know they've made huge mistakes last window, it disappoints me Mikel thinks he can do this on his own and Edu not having the pride to admit he needs help while seeing this club drift off to mid table. Love the pod guys, thanks.

I fuckin told ye, also fuckin rans

Was his 10 assist season without rvp?

Walcott had his best season without RVP just a correction.

This is the first season ever I’m about to watch Arsenal & give us zero chance of being champions. Fuck this qualify for Europe shit. Ya ware the landscape has dramatically changed blah blah blah but I always, even last season had some optimism. Hunkering down now for some mediocrity, competing for sixth with all the other also-rans. When we handed the keys over to a man with no other sporting ambition other than to own the land it’s played on we ultimately volunteered to accept a slow chronic decline into the a world of nostalgia and could’ve beens.

Honestly the ONLY problem I see with vlahovic is if xhaka stays. The Serbia-Kosovo relations is something that we underestimate and I know how passionate xhaka is about his kosovo heritage. Hope I’m just being hysterical cos I want to see vlahovic in red and white, but I know the political dimension is strong amongst many players from that region and we’ve seen tempers flare over the years xhaka included in some of those incidents. I’m sure xhaka would be a good professional but it says a lot about vlahovic that my only concern with his signing is political. This guy would be a game changer

Clive talking about Vlahović got me gassed

Good one guys. I agree with the you guys on the order of transfers. May be after this season we can stop asking Kreonke to spend money. We anyways don't spend it right. We are already making excuses and writing off the first 3 games. Iam going for 35 points in first 18 games otherwise sack Arteta simple.

Shame about the Ramsdale deal breaking down, homegrown keeper at a good age. The price if these keepers is likely to increase too if they change the homegrown qouta rules soon

Honestly I think that we need to get maximum points early before we lose key players to AFCON... howe come out of that period will be crucial to getting to late season when others are battling Europe

"None of us are fantastic gk coaches" I think this includes the Arsenal GK coach

Clive always calms me down with sensible analysis.

Eric Burkley

Terrific chat about Willock on this one. Loved how you two wrestled with the sadness of seeing him go while knowing it's probably the right thing for the club to do.

Ideally RB, CM and ST would be priorites over RCB and another GK. The problem with those positions is that we need to sell to first before we buy right? We need Bellerin, Xhaka and Laca out so its hard to make it a priority, even though i agree there is where weaknesses lie in the squad. RCB, GK and CAM are the positions where there is little depth and therefore i expect them to be adressed before the others.
