AD-Free Episode 485 - We Love You Bukayo

On this edition of the Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast Elliot (@yankeegunner) is joined by Clive (@clivepafc), Paul (@poznaninmypants) and Tim (@stillberto) to send love to Bukayo Saka, and discuss the circumstances surrounding the Euro 2020 Final as well as the fallout from the event. The discussion includes the situation Saka found himself in and what it might mean for him going forward, the future of the England team, and a big discussion about the societal implications of the behavior of some groups of people before, during and after the final. Then attentions turn to the start of Arsenal’s preseason and hopefully some transfer activity. All that and more on this edition of the Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast.

Umm… I really hope this is a troll.

Hi Richard, agree to disagree

I didn’t hear anybody claim that the hooligan elements of the England fan base have come about due to the incumbent government or Brexit. I do think it’s a fair observation that the success of this government and their populist approach basically emboldens nationalism and makes the topic even more difficult to tackle going forward.

Would the scenes from Sunday still have happened even if we had remained within the EU, yes of course they would. Football hooliganism is very tribal, coupled with a drinking culture and many other social and human aspects, but to attribute the negative elements of the tournament to the current government and brexit just stinks of narrative.

Fantastic pod, once again educational and inclusive. Well done gents … it made me proud to feel a new Britain forming x

Wow, just, wow.

"Pansies"? Paul's homophobia is inexcusable.

Great Pod guys. The behaviour of english people majority of men as explained by Tim is not only due to divisive politics but that's just to trivialise the issue. Please don't forget that British have a long history of imperialism. I don't think it's wrong to say that they haven't done enough to erase the spectre of imperialism in the country. Do you know that people outside of Britain consider monarchy as one of the abiding memories of imperialism. I have traveled many times to Midlands and London. The first time I was in Solihull I was thrown bottles at by teenagers which almost killed me. After that I took it as normal behaviour and ignored the slurs that were hurled at me. But at the same time my client had utmost respect for what I did. That's my perspective and it's not to say that Indian tourists or spectators don't have their own behaviour which is not acceptable to many others.

Great pod, love the social political aspects

Elliot seems to add extra year every podcast on Maddison's age :) He is 24 not 26!! Great podcast though...
