Liverpool (h) - Instant Reaction

Comments

I can understand where your coming from. He's an unknown quantity. In his first job working in unpresidented times. I'm happy to give him time. No point appointing a rookey coach now manager, and not gi ing them time. There is no quick fix. Uni was supposed to be that, fooked it up.

I absolutely sympathize with those who want arteta out. My fear is that the opposition remaining for europa league isn’t that impressive maybe short of united and Valencia, and if we somehow get through it’s a bit Flukey (see benfica and olympiacos second game) and would just cover up the numerous cracks we have. That being said I don’t know how to explain it but I see something special in arteta still for some reason despite fearing we’d go bottom of champions league group stage if we get there. You also didn’t pick a side Eliot. Support manager when he does well and valid criticism when he does poorly. Jury is still out for arteta

Today I am sad. Feels like even a “great” performance in the UEL this week won’t do anything to ward off this dreadful feeling. Feels like Arteta and the squad need to win out in Europa League at minimum to excuse their incompetence and lack of fight in the league this year.

Good analysis as usual. Essential therapy

A year without Europe would be a godsend to get some coaching in rather than exhausted players playing without a clue each week

We have another Ozil situation on our hands. Management too afraid of fan reaction if we did not sign him to do the right thing. Remember Arsene would never give a contract to anyone over 30, no matter who. We had a weak, shit management structure back then that has been replaced. Hopefully new team will take the licks and sell him with payout for wage deficit that will definitely be due.

Why does Pepe never look to get in behind? Always coming short. He also never actually takes on anyone, always looking to come back and inside. With so much talent this is a coaching problem that has been obvious since he joined the club. We do not need a winger who does not beat the full back and get past him to whip in or cut back - take a que from our left back FFS!!!

What a pummelling! Here in Ireland, supporters wise there’s Utd fans, Liverpool fans and Arsenal fans. The rest are only small fry. These beating but rivals are hard to take . Good thing the pubs are closed.

Felt like a reality check of how we need to stop romanticising these players when things go well.

I don't think Xhaka is stock rising, we know what he is, his limitations and that he is better than Mo and Dani. We haven't learnt something new about him or his role in the squad

Crises that was one of the worst games I’ve seen

Great point. Cant argue with that.

Players , managers come and go. They are just pawns imo. We are going nowhere as a club under this owner. The fact that we have players from that dreadful final performance at baku still playing for us tells u about the ambition of the club and the owner. When the owner of the organization does not care, the employees take the liberty and u get these performances.

Xhaka not there.... coincidence there's no leadership?

Can't believe we didn't play out from the back at all, ceded possession to them all game.

Im sorry Graham have to disagree mate. Once you cross the white line, as a professional or any type of footballer, you should be able to make a 5 yard pass, and string more than 3 passes together. Or be able and willing to close down a cross, thats got F,A to do with formations. Manager never sent them out to perform like that. As Niall said hopefully thats made his mind up on one or to decisions they're gonna have to make. Going forward. Our biggest issue is leadership on the field, there aint any.

I think Arteta lost Auba.

I think we must of spent all the build up watching footage of Liverpool last year. We played with an inferiority complex from the off. With a line up and formation to boot. We didn't compete throughout. Extremely poor and questions about the manager and preparation rightly need to be asked. A miserable day at the office.

Oddly now quite content that the league route is now dead and buried. Emerys biggest fault the year of Baku was the farcical mismanagement of priorities regarding top 4 and winning Europa. Also think today will have made up the Managers mind about some possible close calls he thought he would have in the summer.

Holy fucking hell what a fucking shit show! The only reaction available.
