Elliot, Tim, Paul and Clive get together to try to make sense of a wild 3-3 draw at the London Stadium. There's headlines, stock rising, and stock falling as usual.

West Ham - Instant Reaction

Comments

This Chambers game was reminiscent of the 3-2 win vs Villa under Emery he was a beast in that second half and was pretty damn important for us during parts of that season

supporting The Arsenal is not for the fainthearted, to be sure. Now the dreaded international break. are we just gluttons for punishment?

The player profile has gradually changed this season to the point where Auba s strengths are not as important as they once were but his limitations hurt us more now than they had previously. It’s time to phase him out. I’m aware of the contract situation but what you’re paying a fella shouldn’t create shield for accepting mediocrity.

Auba starting on the right looks crazy but arteta identified that side as our way in. Proved to be a correct opinion and good strategy to go with. All our moments came down that area. We looked sluggish and lazy in the first period. Not Aubas fault. Just casual man! Wtf. I think we need aggressive team talks maybe.? When they come out very often we look uninterested. Not the first time either

What we are doing with this team is exciting, but its not gonna work if Arteta has to worry about where to ’hide’ Auba. If he is at CF, he has to lead the press as well as laca (he has not). If he is on the wing, he has to track the runners. neither of these roles involve much more than quick twitch running and hes got that—CF might give him more goals, but he hasnt done great with either role on the defensive end recently

Think the tierney stock down is a bit unfair; on the 3rd goal that came from left, Tierney actually tries to chase down and deflects the cross. Auba (now on left) is walking and allows his man to get all the time in the world for the most 2nd cross to be swung in. The space exploited was really whichever side Auba was on (right for goal 1; left for goal 3) because he isnt tracking back and allows west ham to accumulate way too much time on the ball in those areas. Effectively doing what Bale did to Doherty against us. Has to get with the program

I think it's worth giving him another transfer window and a proper pre season to see what he can do what that. No good letting multiple managers bring in a couple of their own players and not seeing if it can develop.

New to this. Great pod! The gung-ho on Xhaka/down on Partey takes are quite curious 🤔😂

part of the reason for hammers great defensive record is Ogbonna and he wasn’t there today.

Tim's point about Odegaard having time is spot on. Very similar to all the great cricketers- the ball just seems to take an extra half second to reach them.

39:40 line of the season from Paul xD especially after the banter in the last few pods about the format of the instant reactions

I thought we should pay no more than 40m for Ødegaard before this game. Now I would be fine with anything.

Clyde 🤔😂

Do you keep Mikel if he finishes 9-10th and does not win the Europa League?

I want Clyde to comfort me on the couch during a match.

You guys are brilliant thank you

"Stan, can we keep Odegaard please?"

Finalllyyyy, can’t wait to listen
