Agreed, I also think we spoke so much of the fragility/mental effects that Baku had on the current crop of players (some who are now gone). If won, the EL trophy would provide a bit of narrative closure to the post-wenger era, and be a bit of a redemption story

Bellerin was more a next season projection comment - what do you think we should do ? Keep or sell

It’s been a great week for Arsenal- so far. 3 points against West Ham would truly be the foundation needed for a compelling end to the season. Frankly, the final league position doesn’t matter in my view if we take advantage of the EL draw we’ve been given and bring home a European trophy and secure Champions League football next season. I back Arteta and if he can follow up an FA Cup in his first year with an EL Trophy the following year- amidst the pandemic and the challenging circumstances he faced- I don’t see how he can have ANY detractors at that point. Hoping for the best and for our club to get back to where it belongs... as Clive said, the time for us is now. COYG

Thanks guys! As a Dutchman, must share it was Cruyffs Barca who started playing without a nine to make opposition central defenders 'swim around', as he put it. It was also Cruyff with the 'if I need to tackle it means I'm too late' quote. That's why he's the legend. :)

Must admit the bellerin conversation caught me by suprise—didnt think he had a particularly bad game yesterday (and as previous comments have pointed out—there is no offside from a goal kick so he didnt play anyone in) I think the added fact that Elliot was the one to bring it up also added to the shock; i think theres so much reporting to suggest he will leave—and that he stayed mainly because Arteta needed that stopgap (lord knows there were other areas of concern that sunmer) The one thing i do hope is that if/when he leaves, we do take some time to truly voice what a great character and man he is/ and overall one of the best products to come out of our academy (both in terms of his club career and as a role model ‘modern athlete’) I also hope we are able to look back at the last “post-injury” seasons and appreciate that he did try his best to fill the role artetas system required, even at expense of his own individual strengths. Moreover, he consistently protected his manager—enabling us to get to this point where maybe players like chambers can see their careers revitalized. I hope he gets a wonderful 2nd half to his career, and hope Arsenal fans appreciate the memories we had with him
