From what i gather, happening in other games as well (nba nfl etc in terms of video review) and it seems to have absolutely deflated the live experience—> but i think Clive is spot on; people use VAR as a shorthand, but really its bringing out the worst in referees (persnickiteness, obsession with rules rather than the spirit of the laws, and a certain bias against players/clubs)

Arsenal have had a problem with ruthlessness my entire life of watching them.. I grew up with Cesc in 2008. We haven’t been a consistently ruthless team for all the time I have known them. It’s part of the culture I’d assume and therefore very hard to eradicate. Mistakes blah blah blah.. today was a good day. Another strong, dominant performance, 18 shots, more opportunities than that. The mistakes must stop and they will in time, remember though some of these players have made these mistakes their entire career... they will keep making them. For now, they will keep happening on occasion. Let’s not get pissy after a 3-1 win in Europe. Let’s just have fun. Up the arse.. Stock rising: We have a lot of good attackers!

What an Arsenal Sandwich of an afternoon. Two hour pre-match, joy in Athens over two hours, then the happy drugs wear off and I’m fretting being a tenth place team. Hey world, it’s Arsenal! And our Egyptian God, Norse prince and and new Brazilian Özil showed we have depth. I’ll take the odd brain fart. Kudos to the AV team for making it entertaining!

Stock rising: Arteta’s postgame assesment—drove me absolutely nuts to hear everyone at BT praising this result because of spectacular goals from our CB and CM. Arteta’s seething fury was delightful :3 Edit: If theres one thing Arteta is NOT guilty of its puffing up the players ‘swagger’. He has consistently demanded more from them—and in doing so himself. Everyone talks about Arteta as if he doesnt want goals: The first 20m of this game produced our best chances by far. Do that for 96m, get a 5-0 scoreline on some days/ 1-0 on others, but its the same ruthlessness. Arteta might be young: but hes deadly serious about football and was not the most popular player in the dressing room either. He carries himself like someone who has been in more professional environments— if arsenal where an nba team we would be the phoenix spurs (144-142 scorelines). Artetas principles seem quite simple/somewhat Chris Paul like and what most young nba teams have to learn to do: Sacrifice top 20% of the fun scoring to enable a 40% better effort on defence, resulting in a 5x greater points/wins etc. Tighten the screws. Dont confuse dessert with breakfast
